Looks like more peanuts in my future with the new $.75 TQ.
Also gonna check out the Finish Quantum Powerball. If the price is $3.79 minus the TQ, $1.50 and the MQ $1. $1.29 not too bad. Better if I had saved the $2.50 MQ.
I think something does not sound right, I think maybe the poster was exaggerating and how stupid was the cashier if they got NO kitchen essentials but used a tun of those TQs.
This was their post today in deals:
[QUOTE =ilo ve pun ch;36 646 493]Thanks for the replies. I deleted for obvious reasons. The Qs were legit at one point. I know that some stores allow expired Qs, but mine doesn't. Besides that the items purchased were not the items that were on the Qs. I don't "police" other shoppers, but I do try to live as a positive role model for my children. My oldest (12) watched extreme couponing with me and he was the first one who saw her total subtracting like crazy. Right or wrong, I felt like I was witnessing someone steal and that is why I decided to let the manager know that something looked wrong.[ /QU OTE]
insurance... let me ask around for you to see if someone can advice. ok?
Check through her bank. Every once in a while we get something from our credit union. Often they give you $1,000 free then you can buy more. We just got a letter the other day, and the rates were pretty decent. Good enough, that I stuck it aside to look at again. We just had to redo all the insurance crap for hubby's job so I checked life insurance rates through our agent too -- these were good, no physical required, and guaranteed amount that was far more than enough to bury a person.
yes, like gt said, i would hunt around and see if she belongs to any groups or organizations that offer any sort of group life insurance. maybe check into aarp?
i used to sell life insurance a very long time ago. as you get older the cost for individual term life policies gets very prohibitive and there's a good chance at her age she wouldn't pass the blood test to get the best rates or that she has traffic tickets. back then you needed 3 yrs w/o any speeding tickets to get the best rate. i had many people think they were healthy and the blood tests would come back w/ elevated liver enzymes and it was questionable whether they could get coverage at all. i had one very wealthy person who couldn't get life insurance at all even though he really wanted it and was willing to pay. he waited too long.
in my experience, people in there 20's usually had very little problems getting insurance. men in their 40's and 50's tended to have issues like smoking, traffic tickets, elevated liver enzymes. one time somebody mentioned skin cancer to the agency owner and he didn't tell the client but that is almost a guarantee fail.
i don't know about now, but term life policies used to start at either $100,000 or $250,000, it's been such a long time i can't remember, but that's probably not what she needs. i think individual whole life started at either 25K or 50K and it would be really expensive if your mom is in her 50's or older.
i don't know how old your mom is or what assets she has, but if she does have any like retirement accts, property like an apt or house, it may not be necessary to get her life insurance. life insurance for elderly can be just marketing hype. it depends on your situation which is different for everyone.
i will be very honest and say that many people who should have insurance, namely those w/ children and/or other dependents, do not buy life insurance and that is irresponsible and very fustrating for insurance agents esp when they have no problems paying for it. on the other hand, you have to be very careful not to overbuy b/c agents will of course try to sell you more than you really need.
My mom is almost 65, has some chronic health conditions (heart problems, early stages of Alzheimer's and other various ailments) and lives on disability. At least attempts to. She barely gets enough to pay rent. It would fall on me to pay the premiums and do all the footwork, try and take care of my mom from states away.... my family sucks, I can admit it.
won't be on for several hours, so wanted to say few quick things:
1. nikayla thank you for utter sweet thought of pooling prayers and get well wishes. i already feel your collective goodness and have for the last 5 weeks. so THANK YOU!
2. bunnies ...
3. detergent... since a few of you responded with eeks and gasps
in baby products and bath products [safecosmetics.org]
cosmetics database list of all products containing 1,4 dioxane sorted from highest hazard in descending order [cosmeticsdatabase.com]
cumulative list of contaminated detergents [1-4dioxane.com]
safe products guide (including dishwashing and handwashing soaps) [organicconsumers.org]
main page for the 1,4 dioxane studies over the last several years (for those who'd like to learn more) [1-4dioxane.com]
google search results for 1,4 dioxane including government warning sites and factsheets including from the state of california and the national institutes of health [google.com]
enjoy!
no all kidding aside, it is not dense reading, the lists are really easy to search through to find the products you/your family use.
and the cosmetics database is excellent - one i use a lot.
ttyl
That is what I'm looking for. I had her start banking at my credit union last year and I haven't received any offers from them other than the standard $2000 insurance for account holders but I'll call them today to check.
Thanks!
Funny thing is, my mom spent most of the 1980s selling insurance but never bought for herself. Fell on lots of hard times between then and now so it would have lapsed anyway.

I really hope that poster in deals was exaggerating. Last thing we need now is a crack down.
