Would anyone like a couple of the $3/2 DiGiorno tearpad coupons? I found some last night and would be happy to share for this week's sale. Let me know and I'll get them in the mail today.
Wave but only if no one else...

Wave Hey everyone! How's it going? It's been forever it seems!
YES! you can buy Sonic ice from Sonic. It's usually like $1.29 I am not sure how big the bag is but it's pretty good sized. We buy it all the time. It's the only ice I will use...yes that's picky!
Toots- I am soooooo glad you love the consignment pages. I heart heart them too but I have no time anymore.
It's nice to have a steady income coming in but I miss my daughter so much these days. There was a post that said if you don't have to work to keep a roof over your head or food in your families mouth you should stay home with your kids. I totally agree. I wish I could just quit. We don't NEED the money but it's nice to not have to struggle so much. I don't know what to do... Frown
I don't have children, BUT i think it all depends on the person. sometimes the BEST motehrs in the world need a break. some moms NEED to work to be the BEST for their children for the rest of the time.... my mother, who by far is the best mother i know, didnt work while raising us, but she did go part time for a bit...probably to keep her sanity! LOL so could you do part time? just a suggestion....

Today sucks. the end. LOL have a great day everyone!

Good morning Yawn Just finished with the hot compress to my eye and about to fire up the Keurig.. My eye doesn't feel too bad, but it still looks a little puffy. Bought new eye makeup at target this weekend, definitely throwing away all of the old ones.. No eye problems in 20 years and now 2 back to back in the last 2 weeks..

Ank- I will be praying about the baby situation.. I pray she changes her mind and saves that little baby.. I have told DH many times that if I knew a person and they were thinking about abortion, I would offer to adopt the baby. Babies are such a blessing heart and I know you and your husband could give that baby a wonderful loving home.

Gator - the torani doesn't add color or creaminess... just sweet and flavor. You would still need cream, half and half, etc.. I use cream and then add whatever flavor I am feeling like for the moment. I can't do my coffee unless it is very light in color too!

Flug - hug did you decide about traveling for the memorial service? hope your DH does great on the exam!
We are going. Our tax return should come in this Friday, so we will have the funds for it. Emails have been flying back and forth amongst all the grandchildren, planning the service. Thank God for more creative minds than mine!!

I have mailed a couple envelopes with the DiGiorno coupons, and have some more left, if anyone else still wants them!

Our last house was an 1894 four square. All the original woodwork was there included glass doors on the dining room. The owner right before us painted it all. I could have just tied her up and beat her.

So, hunted around and found $1/1 Reynolds parchment coupons. Went to T. and lo and behold it was on TPC for $2.50, so $1.50 ac. Is that a pretty good price or is this something you've ever found at a lower price?
Yeah, that's a good price. I use it regularly. I occasionally find it on sale or tpc to $2.50 -- but rarely when I can find the coupon.

If the bag really is somewhere in the 7 or 8 lb. range, that isn't high for ice at all. In between our ice maker croaking and ordering and installing the new one, I was buying 7 lb. bags of ice regularly for $1.50.

Money, working, babies -- I don't think I have ever heard anybody say that they really wish they would have worked when their kids were little. If you are calculating dollars and cents -- don't forget the expenses you incur because you are working. And then try to figure out where else you can save if you aren't working. Is there stuff you hire done that you can do? Daycare, take out food, lunches. It pretty much boils down to what you are willing to give up. You give up time or you give up money.

glad you are getting to go..

We did our taxes last night and sent them electronically, but apparantly they won't even start processing them until mid February, which sucks, IMO.. But, we are getting a rather nice return, so I guess I won't complain too much.. I just wish it was coming sooner Frown

The same thing for us. Frown I think its that way for anyone filing with itemized deductions. I don't think the state is doing the same, but who knows. We are just paying off debt (our temperpedic bed that we got in the fall) and saving the rest to pay the hospital bill from having the new baby with our return, so its not a huge deal for us.
I am thinking if we have some extra from taxes of maybe planing a trip to disneyland in the fall, but my hubby says we should get a newer nikon dslr. I was planing on getting him that for his bday or christmas this year, so maybe we can do both.

Does anyone experience vertigo from time to time? My first attack occurred about a year ago and lasted for 90 minutes before I had dh take me to the ER. Today it happened again at 11:18 and just passed. At leAst this time I knew wha it was but it didn't really make it less scary. If I hadn't been at my moms I don't know what I wouldve done--I was pretty incapacitated. I think I only feel better because I got a rx for antivert filled an hour ago but wonder if there are any homeopathic remedies.

Yeah, I am hoping to get the state atleast before then.. although it isn't near as much..
We have so many plans for our money, not sure what is gonna actually happen.. we are gonna make some lists, consider priorities, and pray about best way to use it..

We have some bills that we need to pay off, need to get a used car that gets good gas mileage, and that my DS or DD can get when they start a job, need to do some home improvement things, and also want to take a family disney trip in the fall as well.. and maybe a cruise for DH and I since we didn't get to go on one for our 25th anniversary in december..

Plus, I need to set aside some money for some school related supplies and curriculum for the kids..

Would love to just go blow it all though and have a great timeLMAO

This week is off to a better start. Thanks for checking on me. DH took the kids out Sunday morning until about lunch and then when they got home I headed to T. I was just going to pick up a prescription, but wouldn't you know there was a Jedi working. Evil

I'm glad the boys start school. I'm sure you'll enjoy a little bit of silence.

hug I've been home for 17 mos now. I've always had a job since I was 13 and I am 39. I am still adjusting. J and I agree that it is important for me to stay home with Spider monkey boy. Today is a day that I'd rather be working. JJ has done nothing but fuss and scream. He's starting the terrible 2s early. Sadwalk

When Mini Thrift was little I worked nights and weekends so I could stay home with her during the day and family would watch her when I was at work. She started daycare at 3 years old as I had to switch to a full time position during the day.

I do miss working and using my brain and the adult interaction. If I went back to work it would be something part time during the evenings/weekend...but that would mean my shopping time would be compromised.
I miss the adult interaction as well. But there is no way I'm going back. laugh out loud I'll just have to spend more time chatting up the cashiers at T.

Thanks hug Feel free to use whatever ideas you see. I love decorating..always have. I always wanted to be an interior designer. My new project (after the upstairs bath) will be a headboard for the guest bedroom. I found a great place here called 'sustainable warehouse'. This woman goes in and demo's old old houses and then sells all the salvaged stuff out of them. Tons of heavy old doors and stuff. Contractors also donate new stuff so there is always something good for cheap.

Anyway, here is the headboard I want to make. I've already got my door picked out, just waiting for someone with a truck to help me get it home. 25.00 for the door and about 20 for some trim and I think it will look nice.

I LOVE that idea!!! I cannot wait to see your finished project Smilie

Ha, yeah, we're pretty broke this time of year, also. Can't do yard sales with 6" of snow on the ground. laugh out loud I am crossing my fingers and hoping we can manage to sock away at least half of our return, because my dream is to be able to possibly buy a house this year. It all hinges on hubby's raise, if and when he gets it, and how much it is. Once we know that, then we can start looking. I am so ready to be out of this tiny place, I can't even tell you.

I know the circumstances are sad, but it will be neat to be able to see all the family on my dad's side. I haven't seen my cousins in over 7 years, probably more like 8. And my great aunts and great uncles, haven't seen them in probably 10 years.

Just to brag on my sister, here's a video linky [youtube.com]from youtube of her playing a hymn "He Hideth My Soul". Its her own original arrangement, and I may be biased, but I think she does a pretty amazing job. Not to mention, just 4 weeks ago she gave birth, and I think she looks great. Big Grin

Roll I feel the same way!!! I have a group of women who feel the same way and we are each other's adult interaction Wink

On a serious note, every time my phone rings and it's the school nurse saying I have a sick/hurt kiddo, I say a little prayer that I'm lucky enough to be an at-home mom who doesn't have to worry about leaving work and finding someone else to watch my sick kiddo. nod

I do - quite a bit. One of the things that seems to help me is hot water with lemon. I think there are some other remedies if you look online, but that seems to work the best for me - well, that and sleep. *hug*

We are trying to plan to get to Disneyland this year too. The little man is two now so we think he will really like it. He did pretty good on the little rides they had a Lagoon a few months ago.

Quote from getgreen09 :
nikayla... thanks for the great microwave link! maybe it will help convince the tribe so stop nuking food. you are so right in not using a microwave, i think. i personally don't use it or at least very, very rarely like maybe once every 2-3 months or something and then too hesitantly. but i got a lot of family flak for saying don't microwave food etc. so now I've adopted a live and let live approach - i cook everything on the stove, or oven, using stainless steel pans and wooden spoons - no plastic, no Teflon, no aluminum. oven gets AL trays with parchment paper on them since stainless steel bake ware is hard to find.
YW, it is really hard to not use a microwave at all. The kids adore microwave popcorn and make it all the time. I am going to keep my eyes out for one of those air poppers, I guess those are made of mostly plastic so probably just as bad for you. I was thinking they could use that on their own, I don't really like the idea of them making it on the stove alone. :dontknow:
I can't wait to get rid of all my plastic cooking utensils, they are on the way out as I collect more bamboo. Speaking of bamboo I love it's natural anti microbial properties and that it is a environmentally friendly wood, hopefully someday we will build and I would love nothing more than to have every inch of flooring bamboo, except bathrooms, tiles for in there. I would then use FLOOR carpet tiles (they have some very good environmentally friendly ones too) where we wanted carpeting.

I must have lost some quotes because know I quoted ank, I hope your niece changes her mind.

Sweet! I have only shopped Macey's a few times but need to start getting over there more often, I always wonder how well coupons work over there. I just need to get brave and try it out. I am always afraid that if the coupons don't work well I may be stuck with to high a bill lol. I guess it's not that big a deal to have the cashiers remove stuff if it was.

Omg so sorry!! That sucks @ that store.. I cannot imagine... one day Late Sunday at our local grocery store I was looking through papers and a guy told me it is considered theft if you take the inserts...whatever...dumb customer..it was literally like 11:54pm..haha...

sorry about the bad run in with an asshat... so have you been out to Target lately? Are your papers cheap? Our papers are 2.50-3.00 so I just buy on fleebay...
I just do not understand why some people are so dang nosey. MYOB I say! Our papers are $2 each or $3 for a double pack that is rubber banded together with a 'double pack' flier on it but those always sell out first. I hate buying papers, I ended spending $10 or $12 on them, because I had the cash which we don't have in the account right now if I buy of ebay. I would rather just get a few papers and buy the rest of ebay but DH keeps track of the accounts and bills and I never know if we have enough $$ in there since I never know what bills he has about to be paid and he only keeps track by going online. We haven't had a check book in years. The few times we need a check he goes to the bank and has them print him of a sheet of three. lol!

I think all marshmallow fondant recipes are similar but this is the one I found and have used and it has worked great, it doesn't use any butter though. http://whatscookingamerica.net/PegW/Fondant.htm

I liked her page because she has a question and answer section at the bottom and a lot of what I had wondered she talks about there. Also I made some fondant and only used about half so I put the rest in the fridge and it kept well for over a month, when I got it out to use it it looked, smelled, and tasted just like it had when it was fresh. I am pretty sure she also advises adding the dye at the melted marshmallow stage.

asparagus- will be eating more. saw on the Dr oz show it's one of the best veggies for you
mushrooms- very good for you
onions- anti-oxidants
beef- b/c we had shrimp yesterday. shrimp, chicken, pork or a combo works fine too.

hmmm, it's flank steak and i could dump some marinade in the bag the Reynolds vacuum bag it's defrosting in and then broil it. nah! we eat more veggies if it's in a stir fry for some reason. and one less pan to wash.
That sounds so yummy! DH and I like asparagus but the kids will not eat it. I need to make it more often.

So freaking stoked: Both of my boys are starting preschool tomorrow. Full days,3 days per week. DH has been working crazy hours since he started, so it's just been me and the kids for about a month now...DH spends 3 nights away from home too. Needless to say, I am at the end of my rope. Plus, they only have 2 friends between them so far in FL. :annoyed:

Shopped yesterday and had a good run...need to get out of the house to spend some expiring Qs...

had 2 margaritas last night and was up all night with horrific heartburn. better now, but the coffee isn't helping...

have a great day everyone :)
Woohoo for preschool, you should be able to shop a lot quicker on the days they are in school. I need to get out and shop my expiring Q's too. Ugh, not really feeling like it though. Hope your heart burn gets better.

Hubby is taking his CCNA cert today. He is convinced he will not pass. He has studied like crazy, but he's convinced the sheer volume of knowledge needed to pass will be his undoing. I think he'll pass, maybe not with flying colors, but as long as he's one percentage point above the fail line, that's all it takes!!

His boss has talked with him at length, and basically there's no pressure on him, like they won't give up on him if he doesn't pass it on the first try. They just want to see him actively pursuing it. And his boss also told him that the money is just sitting there waiting for him. Now if that's not a motivator, I don't know what is!!

Update on my grandma - she is doing as well as can be expected in such a situation. She wakes up every morning asking where grandpa is, and yesterday was the first morning she did not cry when told he was gone. So I guess that's progress. My aunt is working very hard to be there for her, but also to help her meet other ladies at the place she's at, so she can maybe make friends.

The memorial service is in two weeks. Sounds like the whole family is going to be there, which is nice.

OK, next one on the K-cup train, the box will *finally* get out today. So sorry for the delay!!!
Good luck to DH on the test, sounds like some awesome motivation. So sad about your grandmum. My grandma did the same thing when granddad passed, she was near the end of her time here as well and kept asking where he was, when he would be back. Just heartbreaking. I am glad you will be able to make the trip, it is really good for everyone to get together and reminisce together.

I have one of those rooms too. The house is a 1916 four square (one of the catalog order ones) with all the original woodwork, stained glass windows, and fancy-dancy doorknobs with the cooper back plates and I need to find a skeleton key that will lock that door. I buy them on the cheap when I go to auctions but haven't found one that works yet. Seriously, one of my greatest fears is someone will open that door when visiting and see that room:eek::eek::eek:! I wouldn't care if Better Homes & Gardens took a photo shoot of every other room in the house - just NOT that room!!!
I think most people have those rooms, lol. I love skeleton keys! I only have a few but I collect them. Or I would if I could ever find them! I guess I don't look very often because we never get to the type of places that would sell them. I started collecting them because the first house my family lived in had one to open the front door, it was built in the early 1900's. There is a post office there now.

Don't forget to wash bath towels and wash clothes and anything you have used for your eye in very hot water. Somebody posted how there was pink eye going around and around in the family until they got the new washer set with the hot steam cleaning cycle option. I had my eye lid start getting puffy once and I too threw out my make up and started with all new once the puffiness was gone. Haven't had a problem since.

Yeah that Sonic ice, yum. I think if you like really like a lot of ice in your drinks you will like it but if your the type that like a few cubes floating in your soda you probably wouldn't care for it. I think soda is to sweet as it is and I like it VERY cold with LOTS of ice so the sonic ice is perfect.

When my first DD was little I was an office manager and I missed her so much. Then they Corp office moved our office into their building which was a 45 min longer drive. Then they started rearranging hours and soon we realized paying for day care, gas, wear tear on the car and tires, maintaining my work wardrobe etc I was not making enough to compensate for what I was missing being away from DD. I put in my notice and haven't looked back. Well maybe occasionally because staying at home is a LOT more work and sometimes not appreciated and I never get a vacation, breaks, or overtime pay. lol I guess shopping alone is somewhat of a break, at least from the kids, but not really a break.

Anyway, here is the headboard I want to make. I've already got my door picked out, just waiting for someone with a truck to help me get it home. 25.00 for the door and about 20 for some trim and I think it will look nice.

Oh that is nice, you have the interior designer touch that is for sure. You could totally buid your portfolio by coming to visit your TCC peeps and helping us decorate and paint our homes. ;)

Big Grin
It will be great to get to see so much of the family even under sad circumstances you can all remember the good times, it is good to reconnect with all the family. You sister is really good. lilB was sitting on my lap and was really into it and clapped loudly when she was done. She got a standing ovation over here.

I am having pain in my right breast since yesterday evening, it is not shooting or radiating pain, but it is nagging and constantly feeling the heaviness of that right breast. Got an appointment with the ob/gyn this afternoon, went in and saw her. After breast examination on both sides, she told me i am having cyst under the nipple, in a 90 degree angle.. also resembling the breast tissue.. she is unsure and told me not to worry, may not be serious..
She asked me if i have any question, i asked her if it is cancer, to which she said she don't think it is, but cannot tell for sure what it is, would be calling me with the results...
I was turbulent and cried there itself, cannot contain myself.. she also gave me script for bilateral mamogram and unilateral ultrasound. I am devastated and depressed. I am not sure how to react to it, except tearing all along...
Got an appointment for wednesday afternoon.. i am worried. I am an extreme pessimist and all those thoughts are scary. Have to divert..
will go pick up my son..
