The dreaded S word has crept back into our forecast. S N O W. The 4 letter dirty word this year.

My brother has always thought that the local meteorologist got a kickback from the grocers when this word was mentioned in the forecast.

Time will tell.

Morning, all! Slept very poorly last night - didn't help that I stayed up all hours finishing a book. Yawn Plus both girls were coughing all night, that tight, harsh cough. So no shopping for me today - sitting at home with my girls. Oh well - I can get some of that baking and packing done.

I didn't know that about medicines - I figured once they passed the exp date, they were useless, even dangerous. Good to know!

Holy shhmokes it's cold today. Currently at -9 with -25 to -35 wind chills. It's supposed to warm up later though... to -3.

I've got ham and beans in the oven. I suppose I will make corn bread too. Does that man know how lucky he is? I love corn bread... with maple syrup. Anybody know how to suck the carbs out of that so I can have some?

No reason at all to dry them if you are going to cook them. If you want to store them, then you need to thoroughly dry them before you bag them or they will stick together.

Thanks everyone for the replies. The 1/2 bath they are talking about is a utility bathroom in an unfinished room in our basement. It is very convenient but not the nicest looking bathroom. It is not supposed to be pretty. Because there is a furnace & heater in the room, we can't block it off completely but we might be able to build a "box" around the bathroom part of it. We are speaking with the property mgr. today about it and if necessary, DH is going to fly up to MI and do the work himself. We also got a violation for not having a graspable handrail on our front steps. Unless someone ripped our front porch off, there IS a handrail on BOTH sides of the stairs. Not sure what's up with that. So frustrating that we aren't there. What sucks is that now that we have had the inspection by the City, we HAVE to fix all of these problems within 30 days, even if we decided to leave the house vacant instead of rent it out.

My ultimate goal would be to run a marathon by the end of the year, but I am not going to get ahead of myself. Going to try and get up to 5 miles by the end of the month.

I actually ate a pepto bismol yesterday that expired in 2005. OMG I didn't realize until afterwards and it was fine.

And you're welcome for the coupons! After all that, I never got in on the deal at T, or the one at Safeway. Things are crazy here, trying to get my house company-ready, PLUS get ready for our trip, plus deal with all normal household goings-on. Oh well - the deals will be there when I'm ready!

Going to try out those granola bars recipes that have been posted. I'm about out of Quaker ones and have lots of canisters of oats to use up. Big Grin

What kind of OB does NOT have any of the pregnancy/baby mags with the Amazon coupons. Annoyed Had better luck at Mini's ortho laugh out loud

Nurse surprised me with doing a couple 3D shots. This lil guy is gonna have Papi's nose just like all our kids. Roll

Thrift - I couldn't find those d*mn magazines either and we were at the Pedi for the baby and DS the other day. They didn't have them at the hospital either when we went for our labs/chest x-ray. I thought those things were supposed to be everywhere? I'm so bummed. People say that they are at TRU or Babies R US but we don't have those stores anywhere near us.

Teehee me too. The last time the s-word was mentioned here Target was jam-packed in the MORNING (not usually busy at ALL then) 2 WHOLE DAYS before it even snowed laugh out loud Can't imagine what it was like the day before.

That is totally dedication Ank. We tried them with dd for a bit....we had several different types...some all-in-one, some fitted....and they worked pretty well and all but the process for the washing, etc. was just too much for me. Oh, and call me picky but they made a lot of dd's clothes fit different it seemed like....so on the off-chance that we were using a disposable it was just weird to me.

In the end I was very glad we did not go with them in the end because I went into the hospital when dd was 6 mos. old and there is no way dh could have handled that on his own laugh out loud Sold most of mine on Craigslist....they seem to sell well so I recouped almost all of my money. I will say that the waterproof covers on the nicer dipes make for a good cover to put over disposables at nighttime if you have a heavy-wetter and don't want to have to change sheets all the time. So we kept a few for that.

I had good luck finding the mags last time at Half-Price Books....need to go there again and look!!
