Thanks for the info on the clothes. I will be checking out Kohl's and JCP. Smilie

As for the teeth, I don't know what to do really. I guess I've always figured I'd end up with dentures at some point. I hate to lose teeth, but I also know that with my family history, it doesn't look good. My teeth are just bad. Frown I think I will go for the consult with the surgeon for the extraction and see what they say the cost will be. From looking at the plan details online, it may not be as expensive as I think.

regarding the yanking, if you shop around, you might be able to find a dentist who does extractions w/o knocking you out, just gas.
Unless there is some sort of odd problem, why would you need to be knocked out or have gas to have a tooth removed? I've had 3 back teeth removed with Novocain.

Years ago I had my wisdom teeth removed wasn't put out for that either. They were done one at a time, not all at once. Actually, I walked to work back then and my dentist was between my house and my job. I made 7:30 appointments. Got them removed and walked on to work. I did have to transfer my phone to someone else for an hour or two while the Novocain wore off.

A lot of folks like to get knocked out if they are easily freaked out with dental procedures. Some folks are also just overly sensitive and novacain doesn't seem to work too well.

I don't like novacain, and it always takes a lot to get me numb, but I hate the idea of being knocked out. I can't do gas though. Makes me very Sick

all depends on your age and which tooth and wisdoms may not be erupted and require surgery.

uppers are easier. not as firmly imbedded in bone. they will actually drop down a bit into the gap if you have a tooth missing on the bottom. if you have to have an adult tooth yanked, top is better than bottom b/c of this. all your teeth can start shifting. so depending on tooth, sometimes they recommend an implant or bridge and not just for looks.

as you get older, your bone gets harder and less flexible. sometimes they have to take a hammer and chisel to it. better for you and the dentist to be out of it when that happens. always best to get wisdom teeth taken care of by early 20's. what can take 1hr for all 4 teeth can take 3+ hrs in your 40's, especially if they are impacted and sideways. that's major surgery. one time he left the root in b/c the nerve was wrapped around it. those were scheduled on fridays. we had to work until it was done obviously. sometimes dentist had to drive me home b/c it was so late.

i had one wisdom tooth that was impacted and you couldn't even see it w/o x-ray. i think i had gas b/c i'm sensitive to being knocked out and don't wake up.

I managed to get the entire upstairs (aside from the bathroom) cleaned, swept, and waiting to be mopped. Got the living room, hall, and downstairs bathroom cleaned. Moved all my diapers/wipes from amazon into the basement. Cleaned underneath, behind, beside, on top, and in between everything in the living room. Found a box from The Children's Place that came sometime during the week that noone told me had arrived. Makena promptly ripped it open to put on the layers of clothing that don't even belong to her. ggrrr.

Now I'm sitting here waiting on pizza to arrive because I worked my ass off and my kids will destroy it in 20 seconds flat.

I did this last week, while in anticipation of my tax return. I kinda maxed out a credit card that I had JUST paid off again and need need need my return to get rid of it and the remodeling debt we have incurred to get the house on the market. We will still have a personal loan that is more than half paid and DH's piece of donkey shit car that we owe WAAAAY too much on. We bought it out of despiration and someone sent us a 'pre-approval' thing and the dealer fugged us but it has never broke down or had ANY trouble aside from the damage Dh has done to it. He left a can of coke rolling around in the backseat in the southern summer and it literally exploded the whole interior is stained with little specks of brown cola - like it has freckles.

I can't decide if we should double both of those things payments until they are gone - or get the moving fund ready 1st. I know what is the smarter thing to do but I dont always like to be smart.

This is so true. I am hoping to finish everything B4 school is out and then we will just go somewhere else and trash it.

DS#1 actually had the nerve to say to me the other day. "Your life is so boring, Mom. All you do is get on the computer and watch TV shows." I was all like EEK! OMG Mad Are you kidding me kid!!!?! I told him that I would make a deal with him, I won't do anything but those two things for a whole week and he can see exactly what it is that makes my life soooooo boring.

Wow, you guys are busy today.. making my measely housework from yesterday seem like nothing. I am mobile so just popping in to say hello.

Made it all night without getting called into work but only slept about an hour or two. My poor son was up all night with his tooth. Searched online for all kinds of home remedies cause tylenol and motrin weren't working. We tried ice packs, warm salt rinses, and finally vaNilla extract on the tooth which helped some.
Left early and went to get my food co op pickup and to the dentist. It was packed and we waited forever.. confirmed that my ds has an abcess. Did his cleaning and xray and gave me a scrip for antibiotics and pain meds..plus a referral to oral surgeon. My dd had her cleaning. On the positive note, other than the one tooth, no one else had issues.
Told me they couldn't fit my daughter in for a crown til this afternoon, so we went to have lunch, got meds, and are back at the dentist. Hoping to be home by 330.. so sleepy and ready for a nap!

What is this, TCC dental week?!?! LMAO

My dh goes to have cavities filled tomorrow morning. I don't have to go to the dentist for another month and while nothing 'hurts' I'm pretty sure I have a couple too (can see them.) Have never had a cavity/had one filled in my life. I am one of those people who is terrified of the dentist....ugh. I'm trying not to think about it.

Got a lot done so far today....was wanting to move some of my stockpile around and reorganize the freezer.......done. Smilie

So my house is now at least moderately presentable. Now I can focus on baking some treats to have on hand.

Should it be taking this long for my eyes to adjust to new glasses? I got a new pair on Monday - she said my prescription was only slightly different from my old glasses. But it feels like my eyes don't want to work to focus on the clearer picture, if that makes any sense. They're being lazy and letting everything blur. Very annoying. Just wondering if maybe my current prescription is now a little too strong?

no. i've had glasses for over 30 yrs. do you have astigmatism? one time i picked up my new pair of glasses and walk to the front door of the store and felt drunk and dizzy. they said i was sensitive to it being a little off, like 3 degrees. they redid that eye and everything was fine.

i told the story to the latest optometrist and he said that wasn't right. but not sure i trust him. had a lot of problems w/ this pair of glasses. i the lenses were only in focus in the very middle. big problem b/c these are small lenses so keyboard out of focus, food out of focus.... he tried to blame it on my needed reading glasses. that was not the problem. if i looked at a menu the middle was in focus but not the top and bottom and i would have to move it up and down or my head up and down. that's not a reading glass problem. he redid them using a less anti-scratch resistant lens. he also couldn't get the glasses to fit my head comfortably for a really long time. kept having to go back to get adjusted and i did quite a bit of bending on my own.

bottom line, go have them checked again. they may have to be redone.

Unfortunately, everyone kind of differs in this area. I typically take a good week to 2 weeks to adjust to a slight change. Some folks don't have any problems immediately. (I also know immediately when my RX changes - but I'm highly sensitive to visual stuff)

Are you switching between pairs?? Don't do that if you are.

Are you wearing a single vision RX or bi-focal? Do you have an astigmatism? If you have a bi-focal (especially a progressive lens) and/or an astigmatism you may want to take them in and have them double check the RX and the actual physical adjustment of the frame and lenses. If they are adjusted a little crooked, tilted differently than your previous pair, have the lenses turned slightly, etc... you could be experiencing some issues with that.

Also, if everything checks out just fine, they may want to recheck you and adjust the RX.
