OOhh... never would have thought of changing pads. Thanks! What is the petroleum for?

And is there anything special I should consider for mom? I am sure she's short on sleep and probably could use a little pampering. I know she likes coffee - any good coffee deals?

Mavis is soooooooo stinkin' cute. She does the "bear crawl" - on her hands and feet w/bum in the air. It's so funny. She'll crawl a little bit, sit up and look for one of us to see us watching, then sit there and clap with a huge goofy grin on her face. She is also trying to pull up/stand up against the play-pen and also the table. heart
Our ped recommended petroleum jelly (any brand) with every diaper change..never had a problem of diaper rash...

for mom i would say either a pair of pajamas that don't look like pajamas or loungewear/sweats that they can be comfortable in when people visit but it doesn't look like they are wearing pajamas. when bff had twins i remember giving her a new set of plain navy pjs from my stash. i vaguely remember her saying she needed something like that and me telling her i had a new set of pj's, same company as the ones i gave her for a holdiday present earlier (but those definitely looked like pjs).

i also gave my sil a set of charcoal grey loungewear when she gave birth and i definitely remember seeing her wear it when i went over once.

Yeah the low-sodium cream of chicken is gross IMO....tonight I completely forgot to put any extra seasoning at all in; I usually do a tad of salt and pepper....but didn't even notice until later when I remembered I forgot Wink My mom always made it with cream of chicken when we were kids because we didn't like mushrooms so that's how I've always made it. The peas (and of course the noodles) add a fiber boost. I can add a slice or two more cheese than normal with the 2% since it is lower cal. and then it comes out more creamy, yum! I do a layer of noodle/pea/tuna mixture then a layer of cheese then the remaining noodle stuff then cheese on top and stick it in the oven for 10 min. or so to melt everything. Can't bake it too long or it starts to get crispy and dry. I don't really care for crushed crackers or corn flakes or whatever on the top either.
maybe it was the low-sodium i bought and didn't like b/c i try to do low-sodium whenever possible. i had a friend on dialysis and it's no fun and very restrictive!

it's also possible i wasn't salting the water when cooking the noodles too. i have come to realize that you have to salt the water for noodles, otherwise it just does not taste good.

i always add peas to tuna noodle casserole and mac and cheese for fiber too. i think one serving has like 30% and dh never protests about peas so i throw them in whenever they make sense. i used to get the warehouse sized bag from costco and sams and never had trouble finishing 5lbs of peas in a few months.

i'm not a big fan of crunchy stuff on top either. i always omit it. however, i did try a mac and cheese recipe w/ a little minced onion and the onion adds just a tiny bit of interesting crunch and flavor. not much onion, like qtr cup or even less. hmmm, i bet onion would be good in tuna noodle casserole too. onions are always good for antioxidants, just don't overdo it or you will get painful feet like me and dh did last yr!

I never knew that - the next time we have an illness coming our way I'm so gonna try this. Every fever seemed to always equal diaper rash at our house. Teething did it too.

I don't think it will cure a diaper rash but helps prevent it..But not sure of the illness induced diaper rash because DS always got a rash when he had diarohhea (sp?)..

It's also very good for chapped cheeks/lips/feet...

last yr in late spring early summer i was buying these beautiful onions w/ long green leaves at the farmers market every wk. each bunch was 3-4 onions. so i was throwing onions in dinner every other nite. after a few wks the bottoms of my feet started to hurt when walking. then dh said the same thing. i stopped buying onions. our feet stopped hurting.

the end.

dunno why but i figured it had to be something in our diet b/c both of us had the same problem. not like we were wearing the same socks and shoes cuz i wear 7.5 and he wears 10.5W Teehee.

Okay, I had a huge multi quote, but lost it, and I am too lazy to go back those 6 pages again and respond to everything..

TMCWS - Your DD dress is very beautiful.. But, yeah.. pricey.. even with her paying half, I don't think I could swing that. It is my DD junior prom as well. She wanted a particular dress that was around 89.00 I think.. but, since she has never worn last years dress again, I told her we were gonna see about borrowing one. She borrowed a lime green satin dress from a girl at church. The only expense for the dress was the 25.00 bill to get it cleaned and pressed. I am going to take her and get her hair done though I think..

Callistyle and Ank - thanks for the creamer suggestions.. I actually thought of canned milk, but didn't have any.. Was gonna do some coolwhip or some SF ice cream I have, but I ended up not even bothering with it. I was feeling kinda nauseaous from no sleep and didn't want anything..

I did lay down for a bit at lunch time. Dozed off and on for a few hours, but didn't get as much sleep as I would have liked.. My toddler was super whiny and every time I fell asleep she would start fighting with one of the older kids or crying.. She finally climbed in the bed with me and fell asleep snuggled up beside me.

Got up and took the kids to church, then grabbed some dinner with DH, and went to target. I have found a new jedi that I really like heart she is super sweet.. She is preggo and I get her talking about baby stuff every time.. Got me some huggies dipes and wipes, along with my finish, crest, halls, etc.. The huggies wipes are on TPC for 1.99 again.. Those actually sold very well at last years yard sale for 2.00 a box Wink

Gotta work early tomorrow then having some tests right after work.. Praying for tests to all be over with good results.. Think I am gonna get my hair done tomorrow evening as well Smilie

And, was very happy when DH told me today he got an unexpected raise at work for cost of living adjustment, plus his boss has decided he can work from home 2 days a week starting next week bounce

Slowtech - wow... that's interesting and weird! laugh out loud I LUB me some onions... and garlic... which ya'll would know if you walked in my front door right now. The house still smells from lunch. Teehee
L2B - Yay for DH's raise and working from home! hug Sorry you had such a rough day. I hate that "tired and nauseated" feeling. Comfort

Hmm... feel so out of it lately. My brain does not hold or process information or thoughts like it used to and I can't remember who I told what to when. Basically, that means if I"m repeating myself - I'm sorry...

DD started her lessons with a new teacher today. She's taking guitar (acoustic and electric), voice, and may be adding in piano/keyboard after talking today. Anyway, I'm sitting in the waiting room and can hear them talking (he had the door open since she was the only one there) and he's asking DD what her plans are and why she is taking the lessons. Guess what she tells him...

She says she wants to go to Juliard.

EEK!

I was like whaaaatttt??? He seems to think he can teach her what she needs to know (major need to learn theory), and she seems to think she can learn it - which I think she *could*, but it would mean work like she's never known before in her life. I mean - Juliard... that's totally serious business. There are kids that have been practising to get in there since they were like 3 years old! She's got 4 years to get to the same point. This girl will have to eat, sleep, and breathe music. Like literally. And even then... EEK!

Nope laugh out loud I am here, but searching online for doctors.. gotta find an oral surgeon on our insurance, plus my DD I think needs her eyes checked, so I am looking for an eye doctor too.. need to go to bed soon. Gonna be a long day!

Good that your daughter has found something she is interested in.. Sometimes it is good to aim big, you never know how far she can goWink
My oldest DD is a music person.. wants to major in music in college.. She sings, plays guitar, and piano.. No "formal" training really, other than the piano and choir she does with a homeschool band group once a week..

laugh out loud Glad I wasn't just hanging out here by my lonesome...

It will be interesting to see how my oldest does. I guess it just surprised me on several levels - partly that she has not really show such high interest in anything before this, and partly because she's aiming SOOO high. She tends to be my "laid back" kid and doesn't push for any extremes. So this will be an interesting ride.

i'm here too. was going thru my subscribed threads. found some ip's to print in printables and whole foods thread and went thru coupons.com under 2 zipcodes and didn't find anything good at all. spot-checked my email. i have over 2000 unopened emails! i go away and it gets full of stupid newsletters and i get overwhelmed. i'm just afraid if i unsubscribe i will miss something good. i did unsubscribe from true value hardware this wk.

i think one of my friends does not have long. her breast cancer reoccurred 3 times. she just came back from treatments in germany. yesterday she went to the emergency room and today she is stable but can't leave the hospital yet. she has 3 kids, i think the oldest is around 18. her dh told a few of us friends they thought they would have a few more yrs together but it doesn't look like it. he keeps us informed of her status via email Frown
