April 5, 2011, 3:13 am: System Notice: This thread content has been automatically archived from another thread which reached post limit, and will be preserved for reference and archival purposes. The discussion should continue in the original thread

Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

Try saving it as both PNG and JPG, see which is smaller - I don't know what compression level the ST uses, but a jpg of my Camel win using PSP was 1/6 the size of the PNG in ST.
try that in english for me please

Snip the graphic, then use File, Save As. When the window pops up to name it, use the "Save as type" dropdown, save it as a JPEG file, then repeat saving as PNG. Then check the file sizes in Explorer.

Yes That makes sense to me. It should have save as a PNG file to begin with, I just never used screen capture or snipping tool before, I learned alot tonight . And I will go try what you suggested so I remember how to do this. Thank You !!!!

Depending on the compression level of the JPG in ST, it may or may not be smaller than the PNG. PNGs are normally smaller when compression levels are the same, but most programs (like the Snipping Tool) don't let you choose a specific compression level like PaintShop Pro does (if you set JPG to compression level 1, ie no compression, they're huge. Default for a lot of programs is 10, I think I have PSP set at 20).

That's why it is best to save the same graphic both ways to see what a specific program does to the final file size.

Night all, time for bed.

We better do something - call them and stuff - like Marlboro. I guess give it another day and if it continues, I will start calling. They cannot do this to us. Frown

Sorry, I don't know about making the file smaller....SynGal, do you?

When I take screen shots, or use the Snipping Tool, it is saved as a .png file, which is a picture/image file, and they're not very big.

Thanks, jawartman gave me that same email info a couple of weeks ago. I emailed them twice and have not heard back. Frown

thanks I will call in the morning, I took a screen shot but it is a Rich Text Document that opens in word pad and the file is to large. Would anyone know how to make this a smaller file?
I wish I could rep you, I have to spread it again.
Sure, I can probably help you with that. Can you send the file in a private message to me?
