One of the other forums I go to has one of these threads and I've been turned on to some good movies that other regulars just watched. I was kind of surprised not to see a similar thread here (at least not that I could find.) Big Grin

I just rewatched "Kinamand" - a cute drama about a Danish plumber who gets involved in an arranged marriage with a Chinese illegal. Good stuff (Netflix instant.)

So what have you folks watched recently?

The remake with Julia Stiles. I'm really curious about the book now too - if it gives things away or lets it all out at the end. From the start it's like Charades - you're making all kinds of predictions out loud. laugh out loud
i stopped watching that movie after 20min...the Stiles remake. maybe i should try it again.

I heart Army Wives! I've watched it since the beginning and tonight is the 2nd espisode of Season 5.

Watching some Gladiator on TNT right now, I've never seen that movie if anyone can believe that!

You might like Cry of the Owl if you can handle a slow pace. I jumped ahead twice just to try to gauge where it was going and got zilch. And early on you realize everyone is Crazy. It's based on a novel by the same author that wrote The Talented Mr. Ripley. If you do watch please post what you thought of the last scene. EEK!
My GF and I watched Cry of the Owl ( the 2009 movie ) last night and we both liked it a lot! I recognized the author of the novel it's based on ( Patricia Highsmith ), as there were some of her books in with my late Mom's stuff.

I absolutely wanted to throttle his ex-wife throughout the whole movie, and I got so wrapped up in the story line that in the last scene I actually jumped up and yelled "NO!!! Not after all this!!" at the main character when he reached for that knife. My GF was all bunched up in a corner of the sofa, with her arms around her drawn up legs, and when the sound of the owl's wings came and his hand stopped, she made this big sighing sound of relief and almost started to cry.

Really good movie, I thought! Thanks for getting me interested in seeing it!! look around

I just started to DVR it last night, because I get the feeling I'll be caught up on the rest of the show in a few weeks. laugh out loud That is, as long as Netflix has them all on Instant Watch.

Adjustment Bureau

Weak ending and they TOTALLY Dropped the "DONT TELL ANYONE or we will erase your brain!" line.

I really liked Emily Blunt's Character...Other than that it kept my attention..but Black Swan was betterwoot

Exactly! I'm like, "No! You're crazy but not that crazy!" And the way his story kept changing was fun - "I thought about killing my family" - "I tried to kill my wife" - "I didn't try to kill my wife but she says I did" laugh out loud

That's one of the things I loved about it...it kept you constantly unsure of what was true and what wasn't and who was nuts and who was just a pathetic victim of the real nuts!! nod

If you liked The Illusionist, you'll love The Prestige.

Secret I swear I still have to take a couple minutes to remember which was which. They both came out at about the same time. Both are good flicks.

Great Danton FTW!
Iagree
Glad I'm not the only one that gets them confused. I bought The Illusionist DVD thinking it was The Prestige. Started watching and kept wondering "where the hell is Hugh Jackman?" I have them both now.

The Adjustment Bureau - ok sci-fi/fantasy/romance with religious undertones. First half was pretty intriguing, second half was all cliched bullcrap. 7/10

I Am Number Four - decent flick, not as horrible as I thought it would be. Peppered with cliches though. 6/10

The Invention of Lying - Some of it was funny but overall it was nothing special and I don't recommend it.

Yeah, it started out good, then turned into everyday romantic comedy.
