Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

I "won" a slightly cleaner sunroom last night - sorted and boxed up about $1k worth of shampoo, toothpaste, etc, etc for the shelter. Dropping it off tomorrow. Just wish it hadn't have made such a small dent in the mess in the house.

Are you their den Mother???
The Boy Scouts have den mothers the girls have troop leaders. I am registered as a Juliet as I help girls in several troops earn their religious awards. I have been helping boys and girls get their religious awards for the past 15 years. I also get them cheaper tickets (with better seats) for special events such as the Circus, Disney on Ice, Globe Trotters, etc. I also plan the ceremonies for the girls bridging upward.

Nope - her school was trying to sell them for years and could not get anyone to buy them. It seems no one wanted them as they were unpainted. So in the pamphlet she designed she stated people could requests a design on it such as a rainbow, flowers, etc. for an extra $10. It seems people are willing to pay extra as long as it's not plain. Someone even requested a cow.

She is too promote them in the name of going GREEN and get others to do so too. The hard part with her project is to ensure it continues. Can't be short-term.
Good to hear. If the barrels are at all transparent (Coke barrels are white), make sure to paint a complete base coat over them, to reduce chances of algae growing (I had some kitty litter yellow buckets full of water on my porch, with the lids on, and they still have some algae in them!)

It's on the server side. Worked for me late last night, failing now:

Could not load file or assembly 'AdminPersistence' or one of its dependencies. There is not enough space on the disk. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070070)

They'll hopefully notice it in the morning and clear some disk space.
Cowboy

Glad to know it's not just me. I am really tired from work too, so I'm just going to do my usual stuff and wait on the rest. I did vote for your kooky kittens.

OK, thanks. Unfortunately it won't work, because it's not even loading right now.

Can you try the URL and see if it loads at all right now?

Just went online - did you accidently download the wrong byte amount? Here's the quote:

This looks like issue with the assembly you are using, are you using 32 bit assembly in 64 bit OS, if so while compiling change it to use anycpu and then try.

Nope, same error in FF3, Chrome, Chrome Canary build, and IE9.

There's a massive stack trace on the output, it points to their disk being out of space. Most likely they had a runaway process, or just simple logging, that filled the temp space.

Check to see what byte you downloaded.

I think they are dark brown. You can't see inside them. Does this make a difference?

The girls are working on their Silver and Bronze awards and they are working on these environmental projects. Prior to that contest they were having a tough time getting adults to listen to their ideas. When I sent the link to their principals and scout leaders then they decided to listen. So the FFers helped them a lot. Their projects have to be completed by June 15th.

The contest ends May 13th. Jules has already designed shirts for them. The company has already changed their prize policy due to our forum and by my posting on their wall. So we have all done well as a family in the last 2 weeks even helping our family members get their prizes too whether on the red or green challenges. We saw it as a challenge and some of us were up late at night until the wee hours to accomplish this.

The following is for the ones who don't know the history of the leader board:
The rain barrel one is the 14 y.o.'s project. She has even gotten the school to now donate paint, art students to paint for free, and they have agreed to set up an art club after school. So her project was quite big.

The younger one has the other 4 projects. Her award isn't as extensive. She is promoting 4 ways people can help keep it green by using what is in their households without purchasing anything.

So lets all having the scouting spirit and help Boyd and Talonts obtain their prizes too.

Your involvment with the girls deserves a gold star on the dancing bears forehead! Another gold star for your great attitude!

My mom was a troop leader for awhile, but I was so fortunate to have been a scout in Colorado. Many terrific times in the Rockies, at camp, learning nifty songs, skills and simply how to do things with other girls. Scouting is a wonderful, positive program for kids!

They sound like olive or pickle barrels. Do they have a screw on top? Those are the best kind, as you can cut out all but the outer ring of the top, and then put screen over the barrel, and just screw the trimmed top down on it to hold it down.

Brown or black are best for keeping light out, but the water can get pretty warm if the barrel is exposed to the sun, so it is best to use a LONG hose if you water directly from it, and use a spray nozzle to spray it out in a wide stream to cool the water before it hits the plants.

I'm just going to build enclosures around my white barrels to keep the light out. My final plan is 20 barrels getting water off of the house and the sheds out back, 1000 gallons should do well for watering everything. I hope to get a 12V pump so I can charge up a car battery and use it to pump the water through a hose back up to the trees (back yard slopes a good bit, so gravity will be working against me, rather than helping.

If watering directly from the barrel with no pump (electric or crank), it is best to raise the barrel up as far as possible to get a good gravity feed. But since they weigh several hundred pounds when full, you need to be sure to strap them to either the building, or some 4x4s set deep into the ground - you do NOT want them tipping over!

Scouts were fun for me - got to bike through/over the mountains, bike and hike the entire C&O Canal, camp everywhere, and even take a looooong bus trip from VA to NM to Philmont for a week long hike. I still have a piece of mine trailing from Mount Baldy with the date and elevation scratched on it from that trip (and a Stetson still in its' box from the stop at the factory on the trip to or from there).

Weird thing is, a couple weeks ago, a cashier in a local FL CVS was talking to his son or nephew about Boy Scouts and camping out west, and I said "Philmont?", and we ended up reminiscing about our trips there. Almost 30 years ago, and I still remember most of that week. I can also remember the exact contour of the path I had to clear for my Eagle Scout project (though I can't remember the name of the camp I made it for!)

2 of 3 sons are Eagles and have both earned the Gold Congressional Awards. I was a Boy Scout leader and was in charge of camping, etc. One year I went to Woodbadge and our mascot was Boo Boo Bear. We rocked. Our counselor on graduation dressed up as the ranger and brought us a picnic basket full of oreo cookies and Cherry coke. It was a lark.

Despite the girls disabilities they are determined to earned the top award called the Gold Award without cutting them slack as they want to be like everyone else. The older one is working towards her Congressional too.

Between the Gold/Eagle award, the religious awards, and the Gold Congressional Award it opens many college doors. In fact, one does not have to write an essay or worry about the SAT.

Cool huh?
