April 24, 2011, 3:13 am: System Notice: This thread content has been automatically archived from another thread which reached post limit, and will be preserved for reference and archival purposes. The discussion should continue in the original thread

Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

I can't imagine living where tornados happen...gotta be so scary! We had a huge wind storm the first winter in this house...knocked the power out for four days. No generator then, but neighbors with electic heat gathered here and I cooked for everyone on my wood stove. We had just moved in, and didn't even have a stove to cook on yet. The bridge over Hood Canal got blown away and wasn't re-built for several years. But that was an unusual storm...nothing like tornados or hurricanes that happen in other parts of the US.
The first year I moved to Seattle there was a floating bridge that sank. I miss it up there
We used to go camping up in the mountains, One time a bear came into camp while we were sleeping. My husband was snoring realy bad and every time he did the bear would press its nose up against the tent and snort!!! I was terrified. My son was only 4 months old so I put him in the middle and scooted close. I couldnt get my husband to wake up so I rolled hium over to the edge of the tent away from us!!!! If the bear attacked I wanted to be as far away as possible so I could protect my son!!! My husband never forgave me for that one!!! LMAOLMAO

That was probably the Hood Canal Bridge...1978 or 1979. The bears here are black or brown bears, pretty harmless if you don't bother their youngsters.
Razor clam digging at the beach this weekend. Why did you move?

My husband was from there and he wanted to go back. Missouri is too slow and behind in everything. I wanted to move back here because I wanted my grandma to know my son and my husband got reaquainted with his old drug buddies and I didnt want to raise my son in that kind of atmosphere. Seattle has some scary people in it

Family is important. It's just the cities that are scary with opportunistic people. I believe in karma, and that most people have good hearts. Gotta get some sleep. I'm glad you didn't get blown away!

Happy Easter to all here in the Funny Farm...eat lots of chocolate and win some prizes!!!

I lived in the SF Bay area for 8 years, and only ever felt one - up at 3am, and the window shook a little, and the blinds swayed for a second.

FAR less movement than when they tested the MOAB (or maybe it was the FOAB) 15-20 miles away at the time in FL. Was sitting in my computer chair, and the whole house moved back and forth under my chair. Military denied there was a test for months, but it finally came out later that they had tested one (why they kept it hush-hush, I'll never understand, as they advertised previous tests).

We are originally from Sonoma County California, Santa Rosa. And I have lived through quite alot earth quakes, being my apartment ran straight with San Andreas FaultEEK! California sign on the boarder should say " Welcome to California, Lets shake, rattle and roll!" NO hurricanes like Florida gets. A big wind storm in Oregon a few years back and a tree fell on the car in front of me and I almost pooped my pants. That was scary so I think I would rattle and roll before I would want to get blown away. EEK! In all you must worship mother nature and her power!

I'll take Sunnyvale weather over Pensacola weather any day - WAY too humid here in the summer, and colder than CA in the winter. But our house here was about what a down payment would have been in any safe neighborhood in the SF Bay Area, so we were pretty much priced out of CA. It's the only reason we left.

Us too!!! we lived in the getto our rent was 1500.00 2 bed 1 bath to dodge bullets and find serigines in the street. Had saved some money but what were we going to buy???? Oregon no sales tax, registration on vehicles is 84.00 for 2 years. and 3 bedroom 1 bath home on 1/2 acre in a nice place ( old folks home across the street) don't have to go far when retiredshake headcost 72,000.00 this house in california 400,000.00 I did the math and moved! The only thing I do miss the most is family and weather. I would take california's weather any day all 4 seasons show and go.Here is winter and summer no fall or spring just one day it is summer weird...................

Good morning, I on the other hand would take a hurricane in stead of a earth quake, you have no notice of a earth quake, at least you have warnings for hurricane and can decide weather to stay or go. I live in lousiana been here 10 years now with going through atleast 3 storms, we decided to stay put for all no major damage just broken limbs SmilieSmilie

Actually, Pensacola Beach is even better than Destin. I live near Pensacola, and have visited all of them from here to Panama City. Pensacola/Navarre Beach has the whitest sand. But Destin has better shopping, and has the MASSIVE wine festival (next weekend), over 600 wines (last year toppped 800) that I'll be volunteering at Sat (and more importantly, attending Sunday).
I've never been to Pensacola so thanks for the info. My family drives down from Alabama and I fly into Ft. Walton Airport and they pick me up. I love going to wine festivals and the people pouring are always so interesting so I bet that is fun!! Virginia has some nice wineries.

Nice boss and nice gift!! Especially considering the price of a nice spiral ham, and groceries in general these days.

Thanks...no kids, just the big, yellow, slobbery ones! I love being a Dog Mom! It just goes to show that a second opinion is sometimes a good idea. Needless to say I am feeling much better too!
