While my wife isn't pregnant, we both strongly feel that adopting a newborn is the right choice for us(for atleast our first kid). We are in the process of getting our homestudy completed and getting all the paperwork in and getting a profile up for birthmothers to see.
We have considered the county foster to adopt, but as a first kid we really want a newborn and through the county it is rare to get newborns(from what they say). If we adopt a second or third kid later in life, we would probably go this route though. We just really want to get all the experiences of the stages of life.
Its exciting news...we are in the process of saving and raising money because adoptions through an agency cost a pretty penny... but we are feel its worth it... just wanted to share because i am excited
we are very open on gender or race so the process should go quicker, we are also doing a domestic adoption as international adoptions require more legal work... now its time to set the room up for the homestudy and save save save...
if anyone has adopted and have tips or good info...please share!

My wife and I are expecting in September so we're in the same phase as you, and luckily have most of it. We've got an Eddie Bauer Sinclair travel system from Target (http://www.target.com/gp/detail.h...ckre
Chicco are definitely nice but also very expensive. If you want to spend the money, you can't go wrong with them either.

Congrats matt!
Sounds like the perfect time to go back to graduate school...
BTW, based on your pictures, looks like you outkicked your coverage...
I bet you two would give the kid a wonderful life!
That was a beautiful set of pictures, btw
Why did they change the due date? Is everything okay??

Has your wife looked at all into induced lactation for adoptive moms? Over the years I've met a few moms who did that. You usually have greater success with it if you've already had children, but even without producing a lot of milk the baby and mom can still share in the unique bonding experience that only breastfeeding yields.
