Wife and I are going to be parents!

11,718 2,539 May 2, 2011 at 08:48 AM in News
While my wife isn't pregnant, we both strongly feel that adopting a newborn is the right choice for us(for atleast our first kid). We are in the process of getting our homestudy completed and getting all the paperwork in and getting a profile up for birthmothers to see.

We have considered the county foster to adopt, but as a first kid we really want a newborn and through the county it is rare to get newborns(from what they say). If we adopt a second or third kid later in life, we would probably go this route though. We just really want to get all the experiences of the stages of life.

Its exciting news...we are in the process of saving and raising money because adoptions through an agency cost a pretty penny... but we are feel its worth it... just wanted to share because i am excited Whee

we are very open on gender or race so the process should go quicker, we are also doing a domestic adoption as international adoptions require more legal work... now its time to set the room up for the homestudy and save save save... Whee

if anyone has adopted and have tips or good info...please share!

wife and I are super excited...so much involved getting a baby, we've been going to the baby stores and looking at cribs/strollers/etc and it involves a lot of investigating...the biggest one is with a stroller travel system... now looking at graco i noticed the car seat isn't really clipped in well, which is a bummer because we found a really nice one. Now we are looking at the new chicco keyfit 30...anyone know about stroller travel systems? we definitely need guidance!

My wife and I are expecting in September so we're in the same phase as you, and luckily have most of it. We've got an Eddie Bauer Sinclair travel system from Target (http://www.target.com/gp/detail.h...ckreg=baby) that is very nice. It's got great reviews on their site as well. Like the reviews say, I think it looks better in person as well. It usually goes on sale for $199. The car seat comes with the base that you attach to your seat so you just drop the seat down and it clips in place and unclips easily when you leave. I'll say the mount is very strong as I did not know how to release it initially and was trying everything and it did not move LMAO

Chicco are definitely nice but also very expensive. If you want to spend the money, you can't go wrong with them either.

we had our state home inspection from our social worker....glad its over...we had a 2" binder full of documents and all the baby proofing the state requires before the kiddo comes... Last 2 months have been tiring, but now its time to enjoy being babyless and getting more excited on getting the little guy. His expected due date is september 26th.... time is flying!!

Yahoo! Congratulations! That's great news. And double cool that your boy will be born after Sept 1st. That makes a huge difference come kindergarten. So glad I got to keep mine at home one more year to grow up a little more.
Around here the cut off is Dec. 1st!! So it really depends on the school district....

It changed from Oct 7th to september 26th. Two different doctors but the most current on is based on the size of the baby. Her first child was born on the exact due date based on size so the doctors moved it earlier. super exciting all around...meeting up with the birthparents again this next saturday... we like to keep in touch so they feel confident and don't back out...

Congratulations! Hope everything with the adoption goes as smoothly as it can!

Has your wife looked at all into induced lactation for adoptive moms? Over the years I've met a few moms who did that. You usually have greater success with it if you've already had children, but even without producing a lot of milk the baby and mom can still share in the unique bonding experience that only breastfeeding yields.
