Big question-and-answer session in the tower.
"Here, take my dagger so you can kill white walkers."
"You killed a white walker?" everyone asks surprised.
"Yeah."
(while I question, "Didn't he leave that dagger on the ground at the time?")
My hubby and I was like Huh because Jon Snow killed a white walker.
Quote from Deusxmachina :
So that's who that was. Thought I was hearing things.
Yeah. It was pretty bad. Blush3

Hodor. Hodor. Maybe he'll warg into Hodor's mind. It's not like Hodor is using it or anything.

DH read the books, I didn't. He's annoyed because they're going through this so fast and not allowing any character development and cutting out a lot of the plot points. After he explained some things to me, I have to agree, the entire TV series would be more coherent and enjoyable if they didn't skip so much stuff.

Yea. As a fan of the books, I watched a few episodes and just had to turn it off. It's disappointing that the show isn't as enjoyable for people who read the books, especially given that Martin is part of the production process.

The best part is the theories about what the story is really about. And they barely even touch on some of the hints in the show.

Heck, I think this season is the first I've really heard much about the Mad King and Robert's Rebellion and such. And even then, they don't say much.

Apparently it's so that if the show passes the books, and they have to do things differently, it won't be based on stuff they won't cover or include...

It would also take 20 seasons.

They don't have to put everything into the episodes, but it would be nice if they didn't leave such major stuff out. Rumor has it that they're pressuring George RR Martin to write the last two books faster because they're shooting faster than he is writing. He's a notoriously slow writer, taking several years for each book.

He could have finished the story by now if he (a) spent less time describing food and (b) didn't give POV chapters to uninteresting characters like Cersei. The stories with her were unbearable.

Good lord yes. It would take a whole season of episodes (cumulative) just on Bran's dream sequences alone.

Or describing clothing worn and sigils. Literally ever chapter has one or the other described in intricate detail it becomes really redundant.

Sounds exhausting. Maybe I'll give the graphic novels a chance instead.

Yeah, I think it was something like 5 or 6 years between the most recent book, and the one before it. As much as I'd like to get the next book ASAP, I also don't want it thrown together with things missing. I'm afraid he has so many threads of things happening that if he goes too quick, they'll get lost for good.

Then again, there are so many minor characters that I like... I doubt we will really find out their conclusions for the story Down

Oh, I liked Cersei's chapters. It shows how really crazy paranoid and power hungry she is.

Didn't like that with I hope he dies!

Iagree With all the irritation about food and clothing, etc. A lot of the time there are so many details I start skimming. I don't want to know what every person is wearing in the room, and what the third course was that they ate, and what the sides were. I want to know where so-and-so is going, and what they're going to do when they get there laugh out loud

Oh I dunno. All of the rich descriptions of food and what all ways they are prepared (minus a pot of brown) makes me hungry. Sausages, bacon, breads, cakes, etc, etc is fun to read. Horse meat, rat stew, etc, etc, not so fun. But I'll take that over sigils and clothing design of that time which for whatever reason I just can't flash in my mind nearly as well. I'm not a huge fashion person to begin with and even more to the point when it's medieval fashion.

You know, maybe he does it on purpose - describing food so detailed... There are a couple moments in particular that now have theories revolving around them because of events that happened before/after people ate something, or how something was described.

And creeeeeepy too! Cold So maybe he describes all of it so that when there are a couple that are important - it won't be as easy to notice right off the bat. I didn't think about that...

Fashion is boring for me, but the sigils are the most dull. I can remember the big ones, but all the little ones - I do not care. I also miss out one some info that way, but oh well.

I'm glad this season is over. Thankfully I get a break from sitting with my gf on Sundays and pretending that this crap is interesting.

Plus he's not a small man. I think he likes food and likes describing it. Probably gets the author's creative juices flowing which may help him take off on other detail on other things within a story. Writers can be funny in how they get their inspiration, who knows.

But you do have a point, if he is trying to allude to something peculiar about the food then he may describe it just a bit different and try to slip it by then later a big reveal points back to that allusion. If you skim, if you aren't entrenched, you skip it and never notice the subtle detail difference. Hmmm now I'm going to have a head on a swivel and read all the delicious descriptions carefully.
