You're running XP or Windows 7, right? If so, just create a Restore Point (XP here [microsoft.com], Windows 7 here [microsoft.com], then install iTunes, and if it fails, just recover to that point, and you'll be fine.

And you really need a professional cleaning every 2-3 years if possible - we clean the lint trap EVERY time, but a couple of years ago, I smelled burning lint. The vent was running full bore, so it wasn't blocked (20-30 foot long pipe under the slab, so not easy to clean). I opened up the dryer (MAN, were there a TON of screws to do so!), and the internal vent pipe was crusted on the outside with lint that had gotten past the trap and swirled around inside the guts of the machine. Scraped off the scorched stuff, vaccumed it all out, and it's been fine since. But it's probably about time to open it up and clean it out again anyways.

So true, Also if you have the lint screen type trap, and you use dryer sheets, You have to wash the screen with soap and water once a month or so. The dryer sheets leave a film (anti-static) on the screen, which reduces the air flow.
And don't forget about the Octopus type adapters for wall outlets and running cords under carpets, Big NO NO's. shake head

I know! I told my family I'm gonna put out a tip jar to pay for the cofee, lol. I'm still excited about it though, around here it will be an occasional special treat probably, really enjoy my instant coffee.
