RETIRED: Marlboro Outwit the West Funny Farm

I played that for almost an hour today, reminded me of Tetris. But I couldn't find the IWG? But it is fun.

Okay, I haven't been ignoring you lately. You were all so supportive during my trials and tribulations with the butt ugly purse and I do appreciate all your help and warped senses of humor. But I've been busy.

WE GOT OUR GAME TABLE AND BENCHES APPROVAL.

I volunteer at a non-profit multipurpose senior center. Nobody lives there, but people from the area come in for classes, lectures, exercises, trips, my craft classes, to use computers we have for emailing and internet use and we have a huge TV we use for movies.

Every piece of equipment we have was purchased from funds donated by individuals and companies and government agencies. We also have money set aside in Funds for things like parties, the weekly Shabbat celebration, etc.

My "boss" is a wonderful woman who can get money from the proverbial stone. She convinced a woman she knows to fund my craft classes, for example. Well, she found out about a foundation that was looking to donate money to help seniors retain memory, brain function, stuff like that.

She decided we should start gaming clubs. We have a bridge club that meets once a week, but they're shoved into a room slightly larger than a closet. They don't care because they have a good time, chatting and laughing and spending an hour or two with old friends. But my boss wants a chess club and a backgammon club and even a checkers club because it would good for the clients. So I spent about 3 days about 2 months ago, researching game tables and chairs and benches where people could watch and/or wait for their turns to play.

I needed three options for everything, knowing we'd go with the cheapest, so even that one had to be at least decent. I finally found one that had a backgammon surface, a separate chess/checkers surface and a dining table type surface for bridge. I also found decent arm chairs in the right color and benches to match. My boss prepared the proposal, submitted it, and then we waited. We found out on Monday that we'd be getting the money.

I went back on line to prepare the orders, and guess what. The perfect table I'd found is no longer made. They have none in storage, it's gone. Nothing on eBay or Amazon or resellers. Gone.

Sooooo…..I've spent another three days trying to find another table that would meet our needs, new chairs and benches (the new table can't be used with arm chairs so I had to find chairs without arms and benches to match them).

I was even doing research at night, at home, trying to find something that would work for us. It finally came together this afternoon; I dumped all the information on my boss's desk and told her I was going home to collapse.

However…..much to my surprise…..I got ronluvsleather's postal money order in the mail. Forget collapsing, I was dancing. It will be out of my life tomorrow morning ! ! ! !

A table, four chairs, three benches AND the money order all in one day. Ain't life grand??????

State of confusion - clarified by a PM - no biggy! We're good. We're buds.

We've all been telling her that since she made that post - but being the selfless person she is, she argues with us & denies being a wonderful person. Good thing we all KNOW that she is!


Oh good. I thought it must have been something like that, glad you got it straightened out. Doesn't matter anyway, as I am the one keeping "the list", and I wouldn't have put you on it anyway!

I wouldn't give you the satisfaction. So there. You'd make me post pictures. You'd mock me. I couldn't take the strain. I'm getting rid of the purse. My life will be good. And I'm not piercing ANYTHING ! ! !

Oh, last night Katiebear & OHFuzzy posted pictures of snakes, so they were put on tree's "list" 'cuz the pics were going to give her nightmares.
Then she added buzzsaw and jemeredith when they said they thought the snakes were beautiful, cute & cuddly.

Oh, and by the way - nice to "see" ya' sis!
