Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

The muskox, or its ancestor, is believed to have migrated to North America between 200,000[2] and 90,000 years ago,[3] during the Pleistocene period,[4] when it was a contemporary of the woolly mammoth. It is thought that the muskox was able to survive the last ice age (Wisconsin glaciation) by finding ice-free areas away from prehistoric peoples.[3] The muskox gradually moved across North America and arrived in Greenland during the late Holocene.[5]

The museum might buy one or two pieces of our nephew's work for display. I think it has to do with the photographic techniques he used. I'll have to write to him to see if the decision is final yet.
That would be wonderful. Does he live/work in Fairbanks? Would love to see something of his posted here bouncebounce

He lived and worked in Fairbanks (I think in a bakery) after he got his BA in Chicago, then he lived in NYC and worked at an art gallery. Decided to return to Fairbanks to get his Masters in Fine Arts. He also taught some classes.

KUDOS for him! Is he still teaching? It certainly takes a strong soul to live in Fairbanks in my opinion (I prefer going there only in the summer). That's where my parents courted in the winter of 1946 - the joke was "they courted over the winter in Fairbanks and when they thawed out they were married!"laugh out loud

LMAOLMAOToo cold for my blood.

Unbelievable how parking lots have plugins for cars (to keep the oil, battery, etc., warm), but then again it does get 40 below. Saw students out on the lawn sunning themselves and it was only in the 60s. Heard it was much warmer in Anchorage.

Did your parents grow up in Alaska?

Normally Fairbanks gets MUCH warmer in the summer than Anchorage; and vice versa for the winter (we're right on the water). In Anchorage we also plug our cars in during the winter months if it gets colder than 20 degrees. As I'm typing this it's 61 degrees outside (our 2nd day in the 60's this spring). When I get home from work I'll probably change into my shorts!! My parents did not grow up in Anchorage. They met in Fairbanks, although they came from other states (WA & IL)
