Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

Well imagine the kind of damage a twister could do???
Living in FL, I was *somewhat* ready for the hurricanes. But no one warned me about the damned twisters. Every single hurricane that comes ashore has a band of twisters along the edge, and they can often do as much damage as the main storm.

When I battened down for Ivan, I didn't know that. Went out the next day in my AWD Talon and drove as far down 98 in each direction as I could before it was closed (about 10-15 miles total, on some side roads, water was at the rockers), and there were twister tracks everywhere. There were at least a half dozen individual twister tracks between our rental house and the in-laws where we weathered the storm. Amazingly enough, they curled around all the houses, missed every single one. I think I saw close to 2 dozen separate twister tracks through the woods, in our complex and along 98, and every single one managed to skip all structures. Amazingly lucky.

Ivan forced us into our current house. We had bought land and were planning on building a house on it, but Ivan set the housing market on fire, owner occupancy was at literally 99-100% for months afterwards. The guy that owned our house sold it out from under us, and rentals were at a full 100%, so our only choice was to buy.

Then Dennis tore through the empty land we owned, right where we were planning to put the house. Lucky again. And Dennis twisters ravaged the area around our current house, got within 1/2 mile, and this time, they took a LOT of houses with them. All we got was a few gallons of water through an open area in our roof that I didn't know existed. Patched it up after that storm, and luckily, no major storms since then.

But I was feeling so good (not) about the fact that we had 2 major, major hurricanes within the first 2 years of moving here.

I'm glad I now live 20 miles from shore, even if it does mean a long drive to get to anything. And our "soil" is almost pure sand, and we're at the top of a large hill, so water soaks in or runs around our house and down the hill before it can lap at the door. But it has come real close in quite a few storms around here (60mph winds in "rain storms" are common here - they don't call them Tropical Storms only because the are not born in the Gulf. We have seen a few with winds solidly in the TS range that were "only" thunderstorms).

I'm glad I don't live in Tornado Alley, even if it often feels like I do.

Scotch, bourbon, and really good tequilas are all meant to be savored. Cheap tequilas I use in margaritas, but really good ones (the ones I can't ever afford, and only get to try at tastings) I sip. Same for scotch and bourbon - I pour an ounce or 2, spend about 15min inhaling the vapors before I even sip, and constantly inhale while sipping (even "lowly" Jack, though the Barrel Proof stuff is stunningly good for the cost). One drink generally lasts me an hour. I like the smell more than the taste (though several scotch tastings with $150/bottle stuff have gotten me to appreciate the taste even more).

Heading to Destin in a couple weeks again, I really hope the Wine Worlds will have some sort of tasting while I am there, I usually miss them by a day or 2.

Agree Charley was bad enough...here. I'm near the Gulf and any time there are storms coming in from the Gulf... Waterspouts are a threat...

Again, ignorant me, what's a butter shot? I adore butter bounce
It's the main ingredient in Butter Beer at Harry Potter World.

Seriously, their non-alcoholic Butter Beer they sell is butterscotch whipped cream and cream soda. So the proper Butter Beer with alcohol is best approximated with Buttershots, Reddiwhip, and A&W cream soda.

I know this because after leaving the park, I hit Publix and a liquor store, bought the above, and tried it out while the taste of Butter Beer was still in my head, and it was about as close as you can get. AND properly alcoholic (though mildly).

Since it has Reddiwhip, and you don't want the whip to dissolve, you can only mix a cup at a time. But believe me, it is real easy to work your way through most of a Buttershots bottle in an evening this way.

Something about Dekuypers stuff has to be cold I like their HOT Damn also (cinnamon schnapps) but only cold also.
Screw Goldschlager, this [wikipedia.org] is the best cinnamon out there - so sweet that it has a layer of sugar crystals in the bottom of every bottle. But HOT with cinnamon (when I was young, I used to dip toothpicks in cinnamon oil and chew on them, even though it was so strong it burned my mouth - this was before you could buy cinnamon toothpicks, but those are all too weak).
