Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

Plumbing Update

On the plus side, I found out where I should have hid my OWTW Lock Box - inside my main kitchen drain.. Apparently the galvanized pipes that feed from the bathroom/shower and kitchen are past their "useful" little lives. Metal fatigue is code for bend over. They have to pull out the dishwasher on the main floor and in the basement they have to move the washer/dryer, take out part of the wall behind them and a section of ceiling above just to access the connections. The lowest bid is 2K. Yup, no typo, 2K. I will be taking pictures to put in albums "How I Spent My Summer Vacation Money" "The Christmas That Wasn't" and "You Want to Retire When?" I will really be pissed if the Mayans or Mr. "Now it's October" is right.

I agree. We used to let our cats outside when we were younger but its such a heart ache when something happens to them. Even in the country. 3 cats eaten by foxes
Exactly. I live 15 miles from Pensacola, it's pretty much rural right now (house around the corner raises goats), but becoming suburban (especially when the Planned Community is built over the hill and we have 1000s of homes a stone's throw away). Cats run over all the time around here. And more importantly, I see at least one fox a month that is run over, and you KNOW that that means there are a ton out there that aren't. And many racoons run over, and they can be dangerous to cats in many ways.

WOW!!! Almost worth doing it your self. Before you have someone come out and do the work, if your town has a tech college or vo tech call and find out if you can get on their repair list. The students need hands on before they can graduate and the instructors are right there. All you have to pay for is the parts!!

Yeah, I forgot to mention that too - NOT spaying/neutering a cat as early as feasible is essentially being cruel to them and all of their descendants. You avoid a lot of health problems by fixing cats (and dogs), and if you don't do it, and they get out, you've just dropped hundreds of descendants into the wild.

There are millions of "domestic" cats running free because people don't fix them. If you can't afford it, check with your county, most give coupons to get it done cheaply. If you can't afford it at that point, you can't afford an animal, as they'll cost you a LOT more than that in food, etc (we just blew our household budget for the month out of the water this and next week just by picking up 224lbs of litter, and that was $24 + tax after we buy the next half next week. Normal price, $120 for that size bottle, which would be 6 months of food for the 2 of us).

coyotes get them here
neighbors never learn at least 3 cats a year disappear or just pieces laying around
idiots want to say cults did it
can't take responsibility for leaving their cats out at night

Litter can be expensive. Sister wont let the dogs eat the poopers or we could kill 2 birds with one stone!!!
We got an electric cat litter. $100 but worth it. All we have to do is empty the tray when it gets full. The cats are fascinated by it and run to watch it scoop up the litter every time it goes off!!!

At least you have a basement - most houses in FL don't, so if you have plumbing problems, they have to tear up the slab through multiple rooms to do repairs. Which pretty much requires a very big dollar plumber, as they have to have the equipment to track the pipe routes to tear up as little as possible. "Cheaper" (if there are any) plumbers often don't have it.

If you have handy friends, have them do the moving and drywall removal/repair, see if that saves you a good bit.

Unfortunately, no tech schools near here and 2 plumbers bid even higher on purpose cause I think they didn't want to take the job on.
