Smartsource 90210 but I am not sure if it is still there as I printed it last week for an upcoming DS deal

All this talk about teen drivers....makes me cringe!!....Only because my son (14yrs old) brought home a signup sheet for Driver's Ed.. He will take it this summer, only because here you HAVE to have Driver's Ed. to get a restricted license. However, I dont' think 14 (or even 15, which he will be in Aug.) is old enough to be driving. Why do teens insist on causing mom's to be soo stressed?? LOL Add that to an 18yr old who is about to graduate (ya that costs a fortune it seems) and applying for college...and well I am about to go CRAZY!!

good morning!

saw preview of little red riding hood yesterday. dh and i both agreed that this is the best preview we've seen of faster, no strings attached and beastly.

visually, the movie was gorgeous. i actually came back to check the credits to see where it was filmed and only saw one reference to canada. i think they did a very good job w/ the set also, doesn't look fake or out of place, but of course it's a fairy tale so it could be set anywhere. they didn't have to fake it and then you find the flaws. has a touch of asian movie visual drama w/ the red cape against white snow esp where the cape has been exaggerated.

movie kept you guessing who was the wolf and the answer was a surprise. they didn't give it away and they tied up all the loose ends very nicely. very well thought out plot. movie didn't have any cliche lines, plots, scenes, etc where you can totally guess what comes out of their mouth. well, except for the ones from the fairy tale which they did for drama and suspense. i am very good at guessing what the next line is at movies and on tv. it's as if there is a movie/tv formula that hollywood goes by. this movie was very fresh and new instead of trite and true.

no boring moments and never wanted to check my watch. music heightened the suspense but never dominated or took over the movie, it stayed in the background almost unnoticeable except for the emotional effect it had during the movie.

the only problem i might have is that everyone walks around in the snow as if it was nice fall day instead of the dead of winter. people wear short sleeves, no coat, etc instead of being bundled up against the weather. i understand that the costumes look nicer w/o a coat on and the snow is a key tool in creating the visual dramatic effect and suspense at the end of the movie. but i was busy going yeah, right, in my head instead of being absorbed in the story b/c almost all the costumes were good but not amazing that they couldn't wear a winter coat. b/c of that i wasn't 100% absorbed into the movie plot. i was a little distracted w/ the incongruity of the clothing, but i guess i'm just being a little nitpicky.

i think it's worth paying money to see it in the movie theatre esp b/c the scenery and set design is just so beautiful. while dh liked faster b/c he likes action films, he agreed this movie would do better in the box office b/c it has a wider audience.

Sorry to be a smartass (well, not really) but it's called a slip [wikipedia.org]. They come in full length, camisoles and halfs (sit at the waist). I'm too old to wear a dress without a slip.

They are out of fashion, but Blush2 at what some folks wear today Bigeye

Under a dress, or one of those long shirts or sweaters. Although, you will see people wear them as regular pants.. which I think looks horrible.. but to each his own!

laugh out loud You crack me up!
I got my DD 2 pair last week. I think they look cute on her with her long sweater and this dress she has which is too short to wear as a dress, IMO.

I can't believe they do drivers ed at 14. I took it years ago when I was in school, but we had to already be 16 to take it.
My kids would have had to take a driving course if they had gotten their license at age 16, but since we opted to wait until 17+ years old, they don't. They still have the restricted license for the first 6 months - year, but the harder requirements are for those parents who get the childs license at age 16.

And yeah, I hear ya.. My 18 year old graduated last year, and it did cost alot.. plus all of the college stuff.. He is now finishing his first year and doing okay I hope.. Now, we are getting ready for my daughter to start looking at college stuff. She will graduate next year.. always something costing money laugh out loud

I think I need to get her a crib bumper. She has nasty bruises on both her legs today from getting them squished into the crib slats. Frown

Don't do it! Bruises heal, Bumpers kill!!! You should not have a bumper in a bed that a mobile baby can get twisted in and strangle.

Happy Birthday to your DD bounce

I can totally relate.. We didn't let our oldest 2 get their learners permit until they were 16, even though they were eligible on their 15th birthday.. Them driving is very scary and a huge responsibility.. I decided older was better.. And even at that, I was still terrified every time DS got on the road. He was 17 1/2 before he got his actual license. My DD has had her permit since October, but hasn't been on the road but a few times..
I am like you Ank - I just about have a nervous breakdown each time. I mean, I actually feel nauseaous each time I ride in the car with them.. I like to drive, but don't like being a passenger with them driving.

I figure by the time my 3 year old drives, my nerves will definitely be shot, since I will be an old lady mom by then cause I had her late in life.. And, I will probably just fork out the money and send her to driving school Smilie

)
I figure by the time the 3 yr old is driving, one of his older siblings can teach him. LMAO

Thanks for the birthday wishes! Big Grin

Leggings with a more denim look..worn with tunics, sweaterdress, dress..i have seen some people wear them as regular pants with short top and I dont think I could carry that off...

unfortunately nobody wears slips anymore. i have all of them in all colors and i don't think i've worn one in over 10 yrs. also, it you wear it w/ a slip, you will discover it doesn't look quite right. you can go get a slip in the lingerie section and test it out it the dressing room. problem usually is, is that you can see you are wearing a slip. and will look really weird esp w/ a half slip.

the name of the game is layering. bff went to justice last sunday to buy her twin dd9's clothing for their family bday party that day, so you know she didn't come out of there happy. she's already told me twice in the last wk she thinks they have a brilliant marketing strategy to get you to spend money. that the clothing is so thin you have to buy layers, ex tank top or cami to go under tshirt then either a short sleeve sweater or the ubiquitous hoodie that now comes in short sleeve, so it's really a coverup and not for warmth.

if you are not one of those people who like to let it all hang out, i would suggest trying either one of those camis w/ a built in shelf bra or a tank top and then leggings, jeggings or capri leggings on the bottom and then the kimono dress on top of everything.

this is sad, but w/ the leggings/jeggins we are going back to the 80's/early 90's so i've had experience.

i will point out one problem w/ those big sleeve tops that are coming out all over the place and that's why the poncho was here today and gone tomorrow and not many people wore them up north. there is not much out there right now you can wear over it if it happens to be chilly. back in the early 80's, drop shoulders, bat wings and kimono sleeves were in, but sweaters, jackets and coats had dropped shoulders so you could fit the big sleeves in there. get ready for a big fashion change w/ all these big sleeves coming out.

but that's how fashion gets you to spend money.
