I'm pretty sure with mine it's a "too busy" thing. He has his 4 year old checkup in a few weeks though, so I thought I'd ask out pediatrician about it if it's still happening.

Interesting on the "who does the clean-up" though-I wonder if we made him clean himself up... Very interesting thought indeed (never even occurred to me!)
I would definitely try having him do all the cleanup (to the best of his ability.) I know I've heard that this does not affect some kids (they think it's fun Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)) but especially if he's the I'm-too-busy type it could work. Maybe once he's figured out that it will take more time to clean up the whole mess than to just go in and do his business in the toilet and be done he'll make better choices Wink

With my dd we completely trained her with no pants....a few messes running down her legs and it didn't take long. Don't know how that would really work with this though. And that method requires staying home for a few days straight pretty much so you can be consistent (cuz obviously we didn't take her 'out' w/o any pants Teehee)

I agree with Ank.. At age 4, I would think they could definitely understand consequences and they would be cleaning up after themselves. That would hopefully deter future "too busy" accidents..
My 3 year old gets like that sometimes when she plays.. Never poop though.. she freak about pooping herself I think.. But, she will hold herself rather than going to pee.. And then at the last moment, she runs to the bathroom and sometimes doesn't make it in time.. She did that yesterday and was panicking cause she couldn't get her pants down and was starting to go. She got pee in her pants and some on the floor. I made her change herself, and clean the bathroom floor. If it were poop, she would have been washing those panties out as well Wink

Hope it gets better for both of you.. I had boys who were late to PT in general and cleaning up a big bottom is not fun at all laugh out loud Hopefully it is just one of those phases that they quickly move past hug

Sadwalk I went ahead and paid the ticket online. It was the same price out of court and in court, so might as well get it over with. Only 4% more when paying with a credit card and no stamp and no gas to and from. Driving school not an option.

I talked with my brother today and told him how the PoPo was lined up funny (perpendicular to the stop sign and not parallel with the stop sign) and he laughed and said "he's got you on camera" so you might as well pay it and get it over with.

Man, you guys are freaking me out. PT was just so easy with my two DDs by age 2 totally done with only one or two mishaps with the pee, that was it. Now I realize I am in for possible another year of diapers and after that he may still be pooping in his pants. Sick

Thanks guys!

I've only used Qs at RA one time - can you link that video value Q? That seems like a pretty good deal.

I'll have to keep a look out for those Qs. I buy bread all the time... might as well have some plates in there too :whistlin :
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you - you have to have an account on RA's website, and then watch the video for that particular coupon. Kind of convoluted, but works in the end.

Okay. I don't have a poop story (that I care to share at the moment). But I have a bra story.

And - thanks to everyone on the input on the freezer. I even checked out some HyVees - but they are all sold out. Glad I called before driving over 100 miles to get a freezer that they didn't have....

I will most likely make up my mind in a year or two..... or maybe three....

Ugh! My DS turned 4 in January. He's been shakily potty trained for about 6 months, but he totally has that problem! If he's playing, he can't take time to go to the bathroom, so it's SO much easier just to poop his pants! If I hound him to go, he will get all mad but go to the bathroom, but if left to his own devices, he'd rather just drop the load where he's sitting!!!?! I've been at the end of my rope about it too - tried everything from bribery to threats, to punishment, to rewards...nothing seems to help!
Quote from MelinMO :
Ah, sorry to hear you're going through the same. It does make me feel a little better though. It's so frustrating, because he hasn't had accidents in months and then this! I don't get it. There is absolutely nothing so great that I would prefer to crap my pants than stop doing it. It has to be a boy thing.

I am going to chime in and say that my 5yo son STILL does this. Not a full poop, but enough to let me know he has to go and is just too busy to stop and do it. He can go for weeks without any problem at all, and then bam!, he'll have half a BM in his underwear. vomit Many times, if I retrace his diet, I realize he has had too much fiber. One memorable episode was particularly bad and just wouldn't quit, and I realized I'd been feeding him that free/MM Fiber Plus cereal from T. EEK! The day I quit giving him that cereal, he stopped having issues.

So all that to say - I think with my son, its a combination of diet and his personality. Oh, and ask your hubby (or your hubby's mother Teehee) how he was when he pottytrained. Found out my hubby did the same thing my son is now doing.... Maybe I'll have the two of them make a project of it cleaning up all the messes. Good bonding, right?! Big Grin

Great idea on the cleanup! I think I'm just so dialed in to being a mom that it never occurred to me to make HIM clean up the mess! Whee Almost can't wait for the next accident to try it out!!! (Almost!)

Have a great night, everyone! I'm off to watch cupcake wars and then scream at Teen Mom 2! laugh out loud

I'd rather crap my own pants than have to talk to my mother-in-law. That's something DH and I both work pretty darn hard to never do!

We do eat a high fiber diet, as DH has had high cholesterol since he was a kid. I should keep track of he's eating and see if there's a pattern. Yet another reason to have the hubs help with cleanup...

You guys are awesome with the support/advice. I'm feeling comforted and empowered!! I definitely think he'll stop once he realizes that it's more work later. I can't believe I never thought of that. I have a 6 year old too, so this isn't my first rodeo.
