ROFL! You sound like my SIL... Mavis is very much like another certain someone we know Whistling and has quite the sweet tooth - so you would be her instant bestest friend in the world.

In other news... I found a pic of you and your DH [edgesuite.net].

Did you raid my family album? I was going to put that up as my avi, but it's hard to see as an avi.

That is a great price, even if it is a knock off brand. They are usually around $800 to $1200 or more for the name brand. I thought the $250.00 was for a memory foam mattress pad, not the 10 inch mattress!
Cool, I thought it was probably a good price. We aren't in the market for one (we're thinking of getting a sleep number bed (and perhaps moving up to a king sized bed) after we move), but I always like it when people bring good deals into TCC - you never know what people are ISO. Smilie

I agree.. I like specifics.. coupons scanned and beeped and came up expired on the screen.. yeah, that kind of detail Smilie

But, I think my huggies coupons expire today or tomorrow and that will sadden me cause I still have a stack Frown

There are doggy diapers for the chiuahua in the baby dept. that the code works on. How the hell do you spell chihuaua anyway?!
Chihuahua doesn't need diapers. But my code isn't one of the baby codes so I can use it one anything sold by Amazon not just baby dept. I ordered a magazine subscription through there and got it. I'm gonna check on an Itty Bitty Book Light -- mine has a short in it and if that doesn't pan out, I think I will let DD use it. She wants to order a Gilmore Girls DVD. I got her Seasons 1 & 2 from Target. Damn them for not having more seasons at that price.

Hopefully next year we can take a decent vacation Smilie
I may be way off base, but it sounds like you might like similar things to what we like when it comes to vacations. Have you considered the Black Hills? Our kids were older when we went, but none of the activities we did were geared just to kids. Oh, wait, there was the dinosaur playground for an hour or so. Anyway, the stuff we did with the kids was stuff we would have done anyway. It doesn't necessarily look like there is all that much to do but we spent a full week and every single day we were busy doing fun stuff. Most of it was very reasonably priced or free too. The route is really easy to break up with little things to do along the way -- especially from Sioux Falls across to Rapid City.

What do we do for dinner?
I have a pork loin out there that has been laying around the freezer forever. It's one of those Hormel log shaped things. None of us are wild about it, so I have no idea why I have it, but it's gettin' cooked and gone. I got some hamburger out for tomorrow. I'm either throwing loose meat sandwiches in the crock pot or spaghetti sauce. Probably loose meat. Haven't had them in a while, gonna be gone part or all of tomorrow and they require no attention.

Has anyone ever considered starting a bakery business?
I guess it kind of depends on what you mean by "business". Being food there are all those pesky health department regulations. On the other hand, there are an awful lot of people who have a decent little sideline decorating cakes right out of their kitchen -- no permits, no "real" business. I think most of those get going and continue simply by word of mouth.

If you are wanting to actually make it more.... professional, I guess, then the first thing you would need to do is check into permits and licensing. And that is something you will just have to research since not only is every state different, there are often big differences in towns. Then there is the whole zoning thing -- you may not be able to run a business out of your home. On the other hand, sometimes thats more of a parking and traffic issue, so if you were a delivery business, that could become a moot point.

I think my first call would be the health department and talk to an inspector and see what you have to do to get a license and if it's even possible in your home.

Oh and stay the hell away from my husband with this kind of talk. Every now and then he sort of brings up opening a little place. The problem with that is, that it ME that he envisions running it, doing the cooking, etc. Now, how in the hell am I supposed to do that and have it not interfere with my fishing? Geez.

Which reminds me... I need to run out and check the river. Last time I was by there, there was just a leeeetle bit of water open but still too much frozen to fish. Nearest lake is still all ice and the car hasn't fallen through yet. Every year they put a car out on the lake and sell chances on the date and time it will fall through. It's a fund raiser.

Time for a potty and refill the cup break.

LOL GT... Don't want to take you away from your fishing!

I have made cakes and cheesecakes for folks out my kitchen before, but not as an official business. Technically, if you charge you are considered to be running a biz and if you don't have a permit, then you are in a pickle when caught.

I do know that my kitchen/home would not qualify for any home license. Frown I wonder if I could rent a kitchen somewhere. That would be nifty. If I could find a licensed kitchen to bake in during off hours, maybe I could get a jumpstart to buying a little place. I figured I could approach local businesses and see if they'd carry my cheesecakes on their menus or something. That may be a decent start. Dontknow

Anyway... I should go do that thing to make my house look less ransacked... I think they call it cleaning.

Let's see. Mount Rushmore (the big rock) is 5 hours North of me. Grand Canyon (the big hole) is 6+ hours South West of me. Hoover Dam is too far West of me. Maybe you should come visit, and use my house as home base! I am only 45 minutes from Rocky Mountain Nat'l park, and the hotel that inspired Stephen King to write The Shining!

I didn't want to load and unload, check in and check out every day so we got a room in Rapid City and stayed there all week. By staying there the rooms were less expensive than some of the other areas and were we an hour at the furthest from all the little towns and things we wanted to do. Each day we went to a different area. Mt. Rushmore twice -- during the day and the hiking trail and at night for the night lighting ceremony. 1880's train ride, horse back riding, mine tour, cave, Monmouth Site, natural hot spring, Custer State park more than once, chuck wagon dinner show - lots of fun, tour of Black Hills Gold jewelry factory - even the kids liked it. There was more but that's what I remember off the top of my head. Little trip to Devil's Tower Wyoming -- remember the weird rock thingy in Close Encounters?

Grand Canyon and Hoover damn would be another trip.

I thinnnkkkk, I'm gonna go out in the kitchen and do something you don't want to know about.

M2C the UPS man got a good laugh out loud when he delivered a package today. He said, "Big Brother Spider Monkey?" I did a double take and said, "Yeah, it's from a friend and she has a Spider and howler monkey." Roll

Thanks! hug
