Got hungry for roast from reading yesterday. Doing this recipe today from a Taste of Home magazine I got in the mail. I have to have a recipe for everything. I can't just throw something together!

Beef Roast with Gravy

1 lb. fresh baby carrots
1 can (4 oz.) mushroom stems and pieces, drained
1 beef rump roast or bottom round roast (3 lbs.)
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp.pepper
1 Tbsp. canola oil
1 jar (12 oz.) beef gravy
1 can (10-3/4 oz.) condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
1 cup water
1 envelope onion soup mix

Place carrots and mushrooms in a 4 or 5 qt slow cooker. Sprinkle roast with garlic powder and pepper. In a large skillet, brown roast in oil on all sides. Transfer to slow cooker.

Combine the gravy, mushroom soup, water and onion soup mix; pour over roast. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until meat is tender. Skim fat from gravy if necessary; serve gravy with beef.

*DING DING* great idea! I actually do this with cocktail recipes. The good ones that make the cut are taped to the inside of the liquor cabinet door for quick reference Beer

The used store in my area often has big glass mixer bowls for a couple bucks. I have picked up two extra sets for my kitchen center (big and small bowls). Every time I see them, I want to buy them just in case I break mine -- which explains why I have 3 of each. I know the big one holds at least a gallon.

When I go in town tomorrow I can check and see if they have any. I'd be happy to pick one (or more) up and ship to you but I imagine it's going to cost a lot to ship.

Just out of curiosity -- I see people on here (not you tootsie) frequently asking where they can find this or that cheap. Am I the only one who hits used stores when I'm looking for something that used doesn't matter?

shake head I'm all about used stores. Hence the link in my signature. Hubby has me on the lookout for a cheap microwave for his office now and doesn't care if it's used since it will be highly used after all his employees use it laugh out loud

shake head I do too. As well as Garage Sales! I love some of the deals I get from SD, but sometimes you can't beat a GS price! Just today I went to one who had baby gap and old navy baby clothes for $0.25 a piece! I loaded up... Big Grin

What's causing the anxiety? Can we help? You know you can come here an vent, vent, vent if you need to. But other than that, you can't help it so make the best of it. Nobody that you need to to fix a nice supper for -- yeah, yeah, the kids. But we all know kids don't care. Let 'em have hot dogs or cereal. Let the house go a little. Hell, don't shave your legs all week. DH is usually gone one night a month. That's my don't cook, don't clean, don't shave, half the time don't even bathe, stay up and read til the wee hours night, the sleep kitty corner spread out all over taking up the whole bed. Of course, he says I do that anyway. (And I don't like it when he is gone either.)
