Morning, all. Yawn Was up half the night with my son. His ear has been hurting him off and on for a couple days and last night he was just crying off and on the whole night. Poor kiddo. He and daddy just got home from the drs and he has an ear infection. For all the medical profession people here - I know I have read that giving antibiotics for an ear infection is pointless, that it will not heal any faster using the medicine as opposed to not taking it. True? Not true? We are bone dry moneywise until Friday, so if its absolutely essential to get the medicine, then I will pull all the heroics I need to, but if its not, then I will just keep him on the Motrin and go that route.

Off to sip my coffee and try to wake up...

IDK about the antibiotics and ear infection but wouldn't the generic antibiotic be on the $4 prescription list for most places?

Hope he gets to feeling better! I think Sunday night was a no sleep night for many me included and it wasn't b/c of Noah or JJ. hug

Does Target have a $4 prescription program?

Someone recommended Hyland's Earache Drops, so I'm gonna try that.

Talked to my mom and she said they were under tornado warning last night! EEK! They live in the Upper Peninsula of MI, and don't usually get stuff like that...

Yes, the Tide MQs were in the packs of the Sensitive Charmin. There was a GC deal of those last week. I was late to the deal and only got 4 packs. Nice coupons in the packs.

Morning flug. As far as the ear infection goes.. I have heard that as well. The thing is this .. some ear infections may be bacterial and should respond but most are viral in nature and a virus doesn't respond to antibiotics. They just run their course. Docs just give you the rx cause they don't know what is causing the infection just by looking in the ear. So it is really hard to say.. it may help but there is a chance that they will get better just as fast without it. My other nurse friend has a son who gets them alot. Her doc gives her a script and tells her if she wants to wait a few days and see if he gets better before filling it.
I probably would be the one who would for ahead and start them cause I just like to feel like we are doing something .. but we do have insurance that pays and that makes it easier .. thrift is right though.. you should be able to get something on the free or cheap drug list. Both my DH and my DS are on amoxicillin right now for stuff and both of them were on the free antibiotics list at publix.

Did they give you some pain relief ear drops? I would be more likely to shift money and get something like that filled.

TM4D: I meant to post that after you wrote about the lice, I had nightmares about both of my sons having raging cases of head lice. Every time I brushed their hair, tons of bugs were flying out...I couldn't control them all. I know that's not how lice works but it was troubling nonetheless. laugh out loud

Thanks so much for your input. hug I talked to my mom this morning and she said much the same thing. I think I'm gonna go with the Hylands from Rite Aid, since I have a coupon, UPs, and 20% off. Should be able to get it for fairly cheap. If that doesn't work, then we'll go with the antibiotics. My main objective is to get him comfortable and out of pain, so if the Hylands' will do that, then that is awesome.

I just feel so bad for him, because of my 3 kids, he is the one who will complain the least. So to see him crying and miserable like last night just tears at me. I'm so glad to have this group to come and get advice, because I know you all have been there in some way or another. nod

And can I just say whoever thought of streaming Netflix live on the Xbox should get a Nobel Peace Prize or some equal ostentatious form of recognition. We have used that so much over the past week, I am sure we are reaching our limit for the month!! laugh out loud

Thanks. That cleared it up for me. I had only found 3 new coupons but was hearing here and there that there were many more than that. Well, sort of. There ARE only 3 new coupons. The "many more" are some of the same coupons we have but have they have new expiration dates. I was reading the name, comparing it against my list but not looking at expiration dates so my little pea brain didn't see them as new. All it saw was, "got it, got it, got it...".

To find them by newest, you have to check the little box that say "Put newest first" or something like that. But then you have to click on each department -- grocery, household, etc. one at a time. It will then put the newest in each category first. It's kind of weird.

Hmmmm, while you are sitting there in the dental chair scared to death, take your mind to another place. Another place with lice. Pretty quickly it won't be the dental work you are thinking about. It will be the creepy crawlies. Of course, all that squirming around caused by the imaginary lice might be inconvenient for the poor dentist. Just so you know. You are now going to think about this while at the dentist. You will squirm, you will laugh and now your dentist will think you are crazy. Glad to be of service!

Flug, I wanna say that my Kroger chain is the same with free/cheap scripts like L2B mentioned. I know I've picked up $4 rx's from T as well. Try the Hyland's then if you want to move forward with the rx call around and see what they offer. hug

I've come to realize that Noah thoroughly enjoys pooping on me. Nothing like a breastfed baby projectile pooping. Sick And not to be outdone JJ has given me 2 poopy diapers this morning. He nevr does that. I'm up to my elbows in poop!
