August comes around and the weeds take over. I completely lose all ambition.
Take cardboard and laid down between all your rows and in between the plants. Water it down. If you get a lot of wind use a few wire pins to stick through it and down into the dirt until it gets all soggied into the dirt. Newspaper will work too. Use full papers not individual layers and stagger them over each other. By the end of the season they will have already started decomposing. By spring there won't be much left and your rows will be weed/grass free. Relayer, replant.

woot

Gazebo canvas and chair cushions are on. All the stray rocks from the pond that I didn't use are gather up and deposited in the truck to haul off. Got a few things to plant and couple rocks to move that I am repositioning... and... I can't remember but I know there are a few more things. Hmm, pool could stand to be vacuumed and the grass needs cut.

And what do I want to do? I want to go to town and buy bedding plants. Ooooh, I wanted to reach through the phone smack a Wal-Mart guy earlier. I will probably go to Mason City this week or next so I called to see how much their 6 pack bedding plants are. Sometimes there is a very big price difference between what I can get here (Kmart or Bomgaars) and there. If there's not a big difference, I won't wait, I will buy them here sooner. Now, this was the garden center, mind you. You know what he told me???? "I don't know without going out there just to look." Then dead silence. No offer to go look. I asked if he had any idea. He said, "I dunno, I think they are about $1.78". Whatever. Not that it's any big deal to WM, but screw it. I'm buying them here and I don't care how much more they are. But, if they really are $1.78 at WM it's not enough savings to make go there anyway, they are $1.89 at KMart.

This is my older DS. He will be 4 in November.
I have no advice on the monster, but as for the nap... Cole gave up his right around 4. I still have mandatory rest time. It started as 30 minutes but now it's 45. When he first started to transition I gave him a bunch of choices... do you want to rest or nap? do you want your sound machine off or on? door open or closed? blinds open or closed? when the timer goes off do you want to come out by yourself or do you want me to come and get you? For a long time he would usually fall asleep during rest time a few times a week. Now he rarely does unless he's sick or had been up late the night before. We also moved his bedtime up a little on the nights he doesn't nap because otherwise he's a total $hit head the next day.

If he usually naps at school and hasn't been, I would guess he's very overtired at the end of the day. The monster thing may have started as avoidance for going to bed at night. Maybe you need to show him Monsters Inc. Teehee

Gator, grats on the rental. I know how stressful that is. Defs a positive that you know who will be living there. All of our renters were strangers who didn't give a flying fark about our property and they all broke their leases. Asshats, the lot of them!

Yay more gardeners!!! Teenbean do you have plenty of bees to polinate the plants so they'll produce?? If not plant some flowers near/in the garden to attract them. I had no problems last year and we have plenty of bees but still decided to do some flowers this year. If nothing else they look pretty Big Grin GT, totally trying that with the weeds....mine gets overgrown too, I think somewhat because my dh brings in a truckload of cow poop compost from his dad's farm each year and a) it just brings in weeds and b) it makes stuff grow amazingly well, including the weeds Smilie

I have tomatoes in pots so far. We put in 2 4x4 raised beds last year. Dog dug them up 3 times before we put a snow fence around them. I'm to short to crawl over it, so didn't weed, or pick much. Hoping this year dog is old enough to know better!

I have to go grocery shopping tonight. I need motivation! Stick Out Tongue We're having friends over for playgroup tomorrow and I need something to cook. I think it'll be a tomato, olive, and feta pasta. I wish we had a SuperTarget. Frown

I'm not usually a big crock pot cooker -- more a crock pot keep it warm user -- but I want to go outside today and it seemed like this would work well while having the added benefit of being able to ignore it. I assure you, I will start playing with my flowers and forget everything else.
Tomatoes are easy. Just keep them watered but don't drown them. If you notice the ground is getting hard and dry around them or the leaves are getting droopy water slowly until it quits soaking in. Two or three times a week is usually enough if you aren't getting any rain unless you are having extremely high temps or high winds. If your plants start turning yellow, you are probably over watering.
Damn, talk about missing the forest for the trees. How the heck did you not see that rhino?
Cheesesteak maker is me, well DH anyway. Smilie We normally grill the London Broil medium rare with McCormick steak seasoning and olive oil, slice thinly against the grain, and serve it with Worcestershire sauce for dinner initially. For cheesesteaks, we cut the leftover steak into very small pieces, cut 1 large green pepper into similar small pieces, and use 1 can of mushrooms. Saute pepper and mushrooms in garlic, dehydrated onion (DH hates regular onions), McCormick steak seasoning, salt, and more worcestershire. Add steak at the very end so it doesn't overcook. Broil sub rolls with butter for a few minutes (this is soo worth the extra step), add a slice of provolone cheese, and serve. I had some for lunch too. drool

Good advice on tomatoes. In addition, tomatoes and basil are a good plant combination. If you have trouble with animals, you can also plant marigolds in the surrounding areas. Critters don't like this flower. We had a bunny living in our yard and he didn't touch the lettuce or carrots since it was surrounded by marigolds. They are easy flowers to grow from seeds. Big Grin

No one has any definitive answers. Orthopedic Surgeon said he thinks I may have a torn rotator cuff. He wanted me to get intensive PT for the shoulder and the knee but that is stuck because of the HMO needing approval from yet another doc. ER had indicated extensive chest wall trauma, but now doctors are unable to see that part of the report. All they can see is the neck part of the report. Where is the rest? They're not sure. So the trauma followup for chest injuries is stuck.

Frustrating and depressing.

I'm not usually one to get frustrated, depressed or impatient. But I think it's fair to say I am definitively there on all 3 counts now. I just can't take this constant pain anymore. And I hate feeling so stuck and unable to do things in my life.

I hope I never drive distractedly and bring such misery into someone else's life all because I was being callous, thoughtless and inattentive for a few seconds. Such a waste.

Thank you for asking HD, and for your constant kindness. You're a gem. :he art:

Good afternoon everyone!

Been so busy the last week.. feels good to be at home sitting here doing nothing at the moment..
My house is a mess, I need to hit the grocery store, and I haven't coupon shopped in forever! But, I don't see any of those happening today.
Snuggled my toddler this morning, then went around running errands and picking kids up.. All of my kids finished school today and I am so thankful! Oldest DS had his last college exam today too.. I will be glad for a break around here. I am just hoping the grades turn out positive as well Smilie

My tooth that was hurting so much on Sunday seems better, although I can see a hole in it where the tooth cracked.. I started eating on the other side only, and now the bad tooth I have on the other side is killing me.. I don't have a side I can chew on now EEK! Finally broke down and made a dental appointment for tomorrow..
A friend of mine from HS works at a dental office and she promised me should would get me in with a gentle dentist and they could sedate me before the dental work if needed bounce I am such a baby when it comes to my teeth.. I think I would rather have minor surgery laugh out loud
Anyway, I will be dreading tomorrows appt all night even though they probably won't do anything other than xrays and plan the treatment tomorrow!

No idea what I am making the family for dinner.. My 4 day trip ended with me gaining a few pounds, so I gotta be good this week.. and I really can't chew anything anyway, so maybe I will lose those gained pounds quickly LMAO I may make the family some breakfast for dinner tonight. breakfast casserole, hashbrowns, or pancakes maybe??

Hope everyone has a wonderful evening hug

ggreen - sorry you have been suffering so long hug hope they figure out what is causing it soon! Prayers for you !

JJ is going through a stage where he screams everytime he goes down for nap and bedtime. This has been happening for at least 3 weeks now. Not sure if it's teething, a change due to new baby or if he's afraid of something. He was doing so well with going down without a peep...but still waking up severl times a night.
I haven't had 1 decent night's sleep in over 21 months. Faint
Noah's a piece of cake compared to JJ. I can lay him down when he's sleepy and he'll drift off unassisted. Poor JJ had to be rocked and walked and talked and shushed and swayed and still screamed bloody murder. Poor kiddo had a rough go of things.

Oh duh GT I forgot in my last post......that is the way I do the London Broil too. I never knew what you were supposed to do with them really anyway, I just kept getting them cheap at T. laugh out loud Anyway, same as you with the peppers and onion (we don't even eat the peppers and onions after it's cooked, they are just for flavor as we don't like them just alone Hide) I do season the beef first with some seasoned salt and pepper + a little garlic powder and let it sit for a bit to let the salt work. I don't know if it makes a difference but I still do it laugh out loud Then add the peppers and onions, then the beef broth. I just dump it all in at the beginning; I don't have time to add stuff later in the day Big Grin

Currently 93 here and oh boy, that heat'll getcha when you aren't used to it. But then, I was working in an unshaded area that is river rock rather than grass. I have been eye balling my pool but it's only 54 degrees.

I don't miss the humidity. We have very little here compared to there.
