thanks for the well wishes--still don't have more personal info but did some research.
had a nice trip to T today. Looked for some cheap items for the Fieldcrest bedding TQ. Nothing reasonable it seemed. I didn't know that they made Fieldcrest bath stuff as well...

I just looked on the bay for some of those b1g1 suave Qs. Have people gone farking insane over the price of Qs? Wtf?
Just got back from another run to T and a trip to Bloom. Boy, am I worn out. Amazing what shopping does to you!!
And is everyone else finding the camis and tanks out of stock??? Guess I need to start getting RCs!!
....
1. list all the jobs chronologically. you never know what catches the eye of an employer/interviewer. For example, I was a Darkroom Monitor in college. It's way at the bottom of my resume, clustered with other such jobs, in single lines each. I have gotten admiring comments on it every single time, with people asking me about photo chemicals etc. It also establishes a long work history/a clear work ethic. Give the most relevant to current profession jobs more space, bigger description. the other ones, make em just one line each with a bullet point for each so it is clean.
2. for the jobs that are most relevant to what you are currently interviewing for/applying for, don't make it a general description about the job. people in the field will already know what the job is about. instead list your achievements - what made you noteworthy in that job. so for example, "restructured payroll processing systems to reduce paycheck errors by 95% and reduce processing time by 75%" would be what you'd want to say rather than "supervise payroll department and work on reducing errors, processing time"
one makes you say, wait this guy/gal is dynamic and i want to talk to them to see what they can bring to my team, or at the very least, how did he do that? i want to find out! the other one is like ahh, ok, he has some payroll experience. you want to stand out.
3. always include some hobbies/interests at the bottom, but don't just list them. so for example, if you're interested in ultimate frisbee, you wouldn't say interests, ultimate frisbee. you'd say, captain, greater nashville ultimate frisbee team, or member, greater nashville ultimate frisbee team 1989-2011. or if someone's interested in flying, instead of saying interests: flying, you'd say private pilot certification, 1999. because at the end of the day, interviewers are people and they connect to you as people. it makes a big difference - breaks the ice, gets people interested in similar things looking to talk to you etc.
4. also at the resume bottom, list other skills: foreign languages, specialty software, any software programming skills, excel macros, valuation, anything like that. specific skills that can be acquired, but not everyone has.
and finally, if you've traveled a lot, and it may be relevant to the job at hand, list the countries where you've been.
hope that helps and much luck to your DH!
p.s. yes, one page only, please. it shows ability to prioritize info and to communicate succinctly and effectively. plus no one wants to read an encyclopedia. a quick glance is what they'll give the resume. the meaty info (not names, job titles etc, but actual skills and achievements) should make an immediate impact in order to stand out from the applicant pile. and piles are what they get these days.
Just found out that my grandfather has prostate cancer.

sending big prayers hon.
that sounds frustrating. maybe you can point her to the new q users thread and let her read up?
... free Sierra Mist Natural with free Dole frozen strawberries (not enough room for ice trays in my poor freezer, so I use frozen fruit to cool my drinks...
would be very grateful for a PM, please. and thank you. i am a regular poster i promise. ok well, i haven't been lately, but it's not because i didn't want to.
Dinner??
Ideas??
I have fresh asparagus.
....
wash the spears and cut off about an inch or so off the tough bottoms. lay the spears flat in glass baking dish. drizzle evoo, fresh ground pepper. salt also if you like food salty. we don't so i don't use any. toss to coat. then take a couple of cloves of fresh garlic and slice thin. sprinkle the thin slices all over. take some fresh parsley, break off the whole leaves and spread around on top of the asparagus.
roast in oven for 7-8 minutes.
the asparagus comes out crispy tender, beautifully flavored with the roasted garlic and the parsley gets crisped.
we never have any leftovers.
here is the recipe [wholefoodsmarket.com]. i always use a very light hand on the evoo, just enough for a light coating on the asparagus, so they're cripsy but not greasy.
Yeah, my son had somewhat bad eczema and so we bathed him 1-2 times a week and used Aquaphor religiously on him. Poor kid. He would scratch til he bled, so we had to work really hard to keep it under control.
you can find bottles of organic jojoba for 6-7 bucks online and in WF stores.
I just looked on the bay for some of those b1g1 suave Qs. Have people gone farking insane over the price of Qs? Wtf?
wait, are you checking the bay for qs while vacationing in Boston?
now that's dedication!
that sounds frustrating. maybe you can point her to the new q users thread and let her read up?
today i told her not to believe everything you see on tv, that some people on the show were using coupons on the wrong items and that shaws admitted to bending the rules for the tv show.
so then she said-
*but that's just plain dumb...why would they let them use a coupon if it was not for the right thing.....just so they get free advertising on tv?*
so then i had to explain the whole thing. stupid show creates all these unrealistic expectations and then you have to explain why they won't be able to recreate those hoarder stockpiles. they need to have extreme couponing debunking classes across the country. it takes twice as much time b/c you have to explain how to coupon and then you have to explain how you can't coupon.
that show needs a huge disclaimer just like weight loss commercials.
not that she's gonna be able to do much w/ the coupons from the ny times.
can't sleep with bad chest pain from accident, so here i am sitting up trying to breathe. yet all day i was feeling so tired, i could barely sit up.
i think fixing myself dinner (i had to slice some mushrooms and my shoulder, chest, knee did not like that saurlhasbeenblocked, standing for 10 minutes business) is what sent me into a pain tailspin. sigh.
dinner for me: a salad of arugula, half a chicken andouille sausage, and 1 sliced orange with balsamic vinaigrette. it was fine, but i'm not sure i liked the balsamic with the sausage much. should have used ranch instead.
dessert: oven roasted pumpkin seeds.
drink: water
take that, oodles of fat.
burned my middle finger against one of the burners so it has a big blister on it now. anyone of you guys need me to flip someone off? they won't miss it.
blood test results came. not good numbers on a few fronts. doc said it's cos of accident. yep, the crash that keeps on giving. every day another consequence, another thing to worry about.
is all. peace out people.
i know she'll say she doesn't have time but i'll try it anyway. she does have time to read romance novels.

i had never used mqs in my life. the occassional coupon for gap or banana, or coupons found on the net for discounts/free shipping etc for clothes etc sites from where i'd ordered, yes.
but mqs? no. in college, i had a few times cut out 2-3 coupons each from one sunday's flier. and i would always think, who uses all this other stuff, i only managed to find 2 useful ones. and that too, it's just 40c and 50c, just a 90c savings. bah, nothing. each time i cut those 2-3 coupons i ended up loosing the tiny pieces of paper or forgetting to take em with me, or by the time i'd take em to the store they'd have expired.
so i just gave up figuring it's stupid.
when i eventually discovered SD, i knew nothing about the possibilities, nothing about how, what, who, why. nothing.
that question that your SIL asked? i would've asked the same question: if it's wrong and illegal, why did shaws permit it on camera? just to make themselves look nicer? so they don't get punished even if it's illegal? etc. sounds very naive, i realize, but i would've said the same thing.
and many of the questions your SIL asks on how to use, are questions my siblings have asked me when i tried teaching em.
and yes, they too, told me, sorry don't have time to read reams. frankly, if someone told me that i would have had to read that whole new q users thread, plus several more how to threads, i never would've done it. it's overwhelming to hear that.
what i have found is that one does much better by emphasizing ease and mastery. you can do it! just learn the rules and then you can save so much! it's super easy! look at me, it took me just a few weeks and i got good at it! and so forth... then once people get reading, the more knowledge they get, the more they want to learn and do. plus the more they learn the more they appreciate nuances and that gets them learning more, discovering more. it works.
i can see how roadbumpy and burdensome this feels on your end right now, cos she's LEANING on you fully. but she'll be standing on her own soon. you're an expert at this - you've taught so many strangers, you can teach her, too.

OAN, has anyone here used an aquasana water filter? it has great web reviews, i've been looking at it for close to 3 years now, but haven't bit the bullet because it is expensive. but now there's a half-price groupon for it, and i'm wondering whether to go for it. still rather pricey, but would save us long term in brita costs. and the brita faucet filter has been such a pain recently. the aquasana one fits unobtrusively under the sink. although i don't know how long the filter lasts and how that part works out cost wise.
thoughts?
water is about all we drink all day long - rare soda consumption here, and we don't drink much juice either because of the high sugar content, so water goes fast in this house. plus i use filtered water for rinsing all food and for cooking, since the tap water has a strange metallic taste (lead pipes likely) and also a horrible odor. don't want whatever all that is in my food. filtering removes all that taste and odor problem.
