I don't think it's petty...that kind of stuff bugs me too...just the arrogance and lack of humility is enough to make me vomit Not to mention all of that crud crawling across your personal news feed!!

I second this. There's just some stuff I don't want my child peeking over my shoulder and seeing. Nor do I want to see/read certain things. I love the feature on FB that lets you 'hide' ppl on your newsfeed w/o unfriending. It is a beautiful thing laugh out loud

Awww I am with you on that, just the single dose knocks me out! Hope it gets to feeling better! hug
You know what annoys me? All the junk TV shows on both netflix and hulu that I have to scroll through to get to my kids' shows. All while they're sitting right there. And my 5yo can read - I'm just waiting for the day he catches one of the titles and reads them out loud. Not to mention all the half-nude chicks that seem to be the cover art on every tv show/movie known to man... Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) Does anyone know of any options to make these more kid-friendly?

bunnies, meant to say, i'm allergic to blackfly bites, and the reax you describe is what happens to me initially. then all the blue purple nonsense arrives.

i once had so many bluefly bites on my legs (mem day weekend 2004) my legs were completely swollen, and stiff and blue and purple from thigh to ankle. hideous. but eventually it dissipated.

this is prime black fly season for northern new england. AND plus, there's a reason they call no-see-um's: they get you before you see em.

I HATE EM.

hug
I have heard of no see um's, but I have never seen em'. I'm going to google and see what they look like.

wait, huh whaaaaa?
why you be scrolling sistah? there's a search box for that. Big Grin

upper right corner on hulu, start typing the first few letters of the show and it autocompletes for you. click on "go to show page". the show page only lists all available episodes/clips for that show.

netflix, when kids are not around, just put the shows on your instant queue. then login and go straight there. Big Grin

netflix also has some parental settings.

picture a mosquito or a fruit fly, then shrink it so it is tiny, tiny, tiny, like a black speck. if you're in black fly season and standing near a big black fly zone, you'll just see lots of tiny black flecks over someone's head, like a faint dust cloud.

they bite through jeans, long sleeve shirts etc EEK!

for most people they're just a nuisance. but if your body is not accustomed to them, or you tend to be allergic to certain insects (me, me, me and sounds like you, also) then you can get a massive allergic reaction. i did.

I should have clarified. Big Grin I have both these programs on my Xbox and that's where we view them. But you're right, using the search button would definitely avoid at least some of the nasties. Its a pain to do, since you have to use the controller to toggle to the different letters, but hey, my kids will be innocent!! Big Grin

do you subscribe to the hulu service?
if so can't you just put things onto a watchlist from your computer and then just pull up the list from your xbox? then no toggling and searching?

They do have a queue, like Netflix, but you still have to scroll up to it. And I think since the hulu plus is so new, they have a *ton* of junk tv on there, stuff that I can't believe anyone would waste their time on it. To be honest, I think the only show the kids watch on there right now is AFV - everything else they watch is on netflix.

I'm still trying to decide if I want to actually pay for the hulu service. It is nice to be able to watch the shows right after they've aired, almost as nice as a DVR, but they still have commercials. Plus, we already pay for netflix, so do we really need to pay for another service? shake head The only thing is with our cable pkg, we only get network channels and then some random cable channels, like ESPN3 and stuff like that. No TLC, Hallmark, nothing. So its cheaper to pay for both Netflix and Hulu than to upgrade our cable service. Decisions, decisions. For now, we're on a free trial with Hulu. I'm thinking we might cancel it at the end of the 30 days, and then sign up again once the fall shows start.

somebody please just shoot me.
i just got a call back from physical therapy. have the PCP referral but now they are saying the orthopedist's prescription has expired!! she said, go get a new prescription. he's away.

Head Bang

right now the earliest appointment for an evaluation (let alone therapy) is not for another 3 weeks. 3 weeks? But since I don't have a valid prescription anymore she's not sure she can even book that.

when will I get to walk without pain and hobbling again.
i want to scream.
gg, i would think the orthopedist has somebody to cover who could write you a scrip. if you call and leave a message the covering physician should call you back and then you can explain exactly what you need. if necessary you could fax over your old scrip so they can see it and write you a new one. or if they have multiple drs, somebody should be covering the person who is away and they could look up your records.

do you have to go to that particular physical therapy office? is there another one w/ a shorter waiting time? and i don't understand why they need to evaluate you. doesn't the dr do that and then tell them what to do? i've done physical therapy twice, once for torn ligaments in my knee and once for my inflamed tendons (i think) in my wrist. i just went and they started treating me right away, no evaluation appt.

i'm sorry it's been such a long drawn out process and you've been enduring so much pain. you need a more proactive dr who can get you in right away and get started already!

we just stick to free hulu.
you get the last 5 episodes of the shows for free.
commercials are short and far fewer than on TV.
and if you miss the show at night, it's available the very next day, so not like it's that big a deal. i mean if i miss a show at 9 or 10 pm, the chances of me being able to watch it/wanting to watch it at 1 am are slim to none.

does hulu let you put membership on hold, like netflix does? for example we put our netflix membership on hold because we knew we wouldn't manage to watch movies during certain months. when you want it back on, you just go back into the account section and turn on the billing. no starting up again, no new membership nothing. takes 15 seconds. so much easier.

Orthopedist is a very senior doctor, orthopedic surgery professor etc. no one fills in for him. last time he was out, i had to wait 2 weeks to talk to him about my results, cos no one else could answer those questions. they defer to him.

Physical therapy - it's the PT center in a large hospital. I have to go there cos all my doctors are part of that hospital and the medical care is centralized with digital patient records etc. It's actually a very large physical therapy practice with 2 centers in the main hospital and 6 other centers in outlying areas. But I am required to go to a particular center - orthopedist's instructions, and they have notes to put me in with the chief therapist cos of the complexity. In any case, I can't make it to the outlying places. So it would have to be one of the 2 centers in the main hospital, and I was specifically assigned to this one.

Evaluation - It was explained to me that at this hospital they always do a therapy eval. That eval will help them gauge pain tolerance, pain catalyst with certain motion etc so they know their boundaries. Once they do that, based on the doc's rx and my eval they will design a therapy plan and start on that. then if they have questions they will consult back with the orthopedist and the radiologist. Sigh.

Left a message for the Doc's secretary in the ortho office. She's notoriously bad about calling back. Angry If I don't hear back today (likely) I'll have to call back again tomorrow.

I completely agree with you that I need more proactive care. I am a very patient person but I am at my wit's end being shunted by one person after another. Every time I fix one problem, someone else has an issue. Aaaaargh.

And I love how all these months I was waiting and waiting in pain, everyone kept saying you need the HMO referral. Now that I have it, they say, well no, you shouldn't have had to wait, you should have been able to go forward with the auto insurance.

Bonk

tootsie where are ya girlie? i think i need to join you in vodkaberry land.
maybe i'll fill my bathtub with vodkaberry tonight and drown myself in it. laugh out loud

Oh my goodness. I so wish I could take video and post it here. Mavis is standing up in her crib without holding on. She's got her hands in the air (think evangelical praise chorus) and laughing huge belly laughs until she falls over. Then she gets up and does it again! It's so stinking hilarious and adorable.
