Got into a car accident in the T parking lot today. The person's foot who hit me apparently stuck to the gas pedal and she went very fast in reverse. She hit the back of my car (I was sitting in the car, about to leave) with her rear end. My durango is completely fine but her Kia Rio was f*cked. Anyways. No one was hurt. I am just glad I wasn't still loading my bags into the trunk ....
SO GLAD you are okay. hug
may i make one humble suggestion: it's worth scheduling an appt with your PCP and being checked out. when your car takes a big hit like that, all that force/inertia/momentum have to go somewhere. some of that gets transferred into the crushing of the car. but the rest of it, often gets absorbed by the body. and sometimes we don't realize it, but then later end up with whiplash pain, neck/back pain, stiffness etc. so always good to have a checkup. auto insurance would cover it anyways.

GG, what a heavy cross you are bearing b/c of that damn accident. P&PT for you!
thank you so much hon! each of your prayers is what has helped me this far. i am deeply grateful for the friendship and support and prayers i have here. Blowkiss

Quote from mamaoftwins2 :
Ok, GG, did you Smack that female or not..Who is she to comment on how someone looks..What a piece of work...
i didn't smack her. her words felt like a loud, public slap in the face, and i immediately shrunk deep inside my skin, so ashamed, feeling so small and became completely quiet. then i looked at her and saw she was overweight herself (maybe 80-100 pounds or so) and thought perhaps her words were a reflection of how she felt about herself? i said nothing for the next hour or so.

but in trying to fight back my tears, i made myself think of oprah's words in her final show yesterday. they were powerful. i can't do them justice, but essentially, she said whether you're rich or poor, short or tall, thin, fat, old, young, at the end of the day we all are the same. and we all hurt for the same reason: because we think we are not worthy. every failure we have in life can be traced back to us not feeling worthy. but she said, the thing she had to realize for herself and that she wishes for all of us to realize is that each of us is beautiful just as we are. everything you are today, you are already beautiful, because you were created by that higher power, and you carry that spiritual power in you.

and so i kept thinking of that. but her words certainly hurt. i guess it hurt my vanity and my pride, since i have been home so long, unable to have the life i had, growing physically less like myself every day. it made me realize that the world no longer sees me as me either, because the accident has wiped away so much of me.

And GG, I can't even imagine having the nerve to comment on the looks/physical condition of someone I know, let alone a stranger. Faint At least we all here know you are beautiful, 'cause all we see is YOU!!!
oh sweetie! thank you for such special words. i'll remember these. your words made me cry. heart Blowkiss

probiotics - what a great suggestion that was. you know, since they don't like yogurt, do they like smoothies? cos you could do a fruit smoothie and put a bit of yogurt in that along with some probiotic powder. she'll never taste it.

also, do you have a trader joe's near you? they have 100% pure cranberry juice bottles for 3.99. it is super tart and super, super concentrated. we dilute it with water and drink, but that'll still be too tart for her. you can however mix it up with some pure apple juice or mix it in smoothie... UTI prevention.

one more thing, wiping - be very careful to wipe downwards at all times and don't do an upward motion at any time, even when cleaning the outer area. because any upward motion can introduce infection into the urinary tract. and even beyond that, once this is gone, watch for that downward motion thing. i was told by docs that not only do parents forget when cleaning kids, but that 75-80% of women aren't careful about that for themselves and that it is a big cause of vaginal bacterial infections/UTIs as well as yeast infections. EEK!

I wish we had a trader Joes. Frown I have noticed a lot of the organic things are coming down in price (or maybe the other stuff is going up!)

I have not tried exclusively organic strawberries, but now that she's been without for a little bit I may pick some up to try. I am hoping the weather holds out and we can get to the farmer's market to get some this weekend!

.
nod yep. more and more people are buying organic and it's driving down prices, which is fabulous and goes to prove, healthy doesn't have to be expensive. it's just a false notion that big food companies have created to be able to use the cheapest products, so they can increase their profits.

i'm lucky to have a WF and a TJ's in my area. and honestly a lot of the organic produce I get is either cheaper than conventional or just a few cents more. i am really grateful for that.

organic strawberries have become very very popular now, because lots of people have heard how contaminated the conventional ones are, so you find even regular grocery stores carry them for the $2-$3 range. I've seen sales on them in 3 other groceries in our area recently, and one of those stores is a super-processed food intensive low budget store, but they had organic strawberries for 2.xx

p.s. speaking of organic, keep an eye out on the daily deals tab on SD. groupon and other sites are routinely have organic produce delivery deals. they're from local farms or CSAs generally so the deals vary regionally, but I've seen some great deals lately for Illinois, Atlanta, 2 different parts of Washington State etc.

As for the yeast infection, I second the probiotics/acidophilus push. I believe you can get powders to put on/in the foods she normally eats if yogurt is not an easy push. Have you tried making yogurt pops? Maybe that would work.

Does she swim or get sweaty? Make sure her undies are all breathable cotton and that if she gets sweaty or swims that she changes and gets dried off very well and as soon as possible. Also make sure she changes at least every day (some kids don't...) Any kind of excess moisture will encourage yeast growth. I will often let my little girls have some "nakey" time each day to help keep them "aired out" - especially after a bath. You may want to switch to showers for a while so that she's not sitting in the tub just in case there's something irritating her from that.

Push fluids/liquids. Even jello or popsicles if you have to! Cranberry juice is nice to keep the system moving along and seems to make the urine hurt less. My kids like the stuff, but I know it's kind of an acquired taste. It would totally stink for her to get a UTI now on top of everything!

That psychological hurdle can be the worst one to get over. hug

I have been enjoying WM lately - no problems at all with coupons. I have not purposely gone negative though. The couple of times I did on accident by >$1 it freaked the cashier out so much that I just threw in a pack of gum. I hate having to stand there and wait for a CSM when they freak out!

I am hoping some good q's come out soon for overage. It would be nice.
Gonna try the yogurt pops. I recall seeing a recipe recently, must look it up again.

No swimming yet, and she's still in a diaper, which is part of the problem. And she takes showers more frequently than baths, just because of time constraints, so that's not really an issue. But giving her time to air-dry is a great idea, and I'm gonna incorporate that.

This is only the second time I've done the negative thing at WM, and I kept it small both times, once 1.xx and tonight 2.xx. May be better to just throw some produce in there to avoid issues. We can always use bananas, right? laugh out loud

We do have a Trader Joe's, a little out of the way, but doable. Also have a Whole Foods that's even further than TJ, but still doable. Will definitely get the cranberry juice. I always dilute their juice heavily so I think adding a little of this into their regular "cocktail" of grape juice and water would work fairly well. Wink

And I had a big problem with UTIs growing up, so I definitely know the rule of wiping. laugh out loud And I instructed hubby as soon as our first daughter was born on the proper way to wipe girls, so I know he's very careful also.

Thank you, ladies, for all your helpful suggestions. hug

I put Cole in dress shirt and pants with a tie and vest. We didn't do a jacket because it was so hot.

Holy crap that is scary.

Every. Single. Time. I heard someone talk like this I thought of you. Sorry everyone has the sick. DH had a wicked bad throat thing before we left last week. Strep test came back neg, but doc gave him a Rx anyways.

Sooooooooo... on the flight back last night Cole starts puking 2 minutes before take off and throws up the entire flight. DH was sitting next to him and I was across the aisle with psycho baby. Luckily I had a change of clothes for him in my carry on. Poor kid. I think he was just overtired from the trip.
Wicked bad eh? Roll A little Boston rubbed off on ya!

OMG puking kids on the plane is the suck!! IDK what it is but the last 3 times that I've flown with Mini Thrift, she's been a puker the entire flight. Poor thing! I'm surprised psycho babeh didn't puke...wait, she must not have been in her carseat Doh laugh out loud

Flug, Culturelle is sold at T and it is only $16.99 for 30 capsules. They sell a childrens box for $24.99 or so, but the pharmacicst said just open the caspules and use 1/2 at a time. $16.99 would get ya 60 days so that works out to 28c a day. JJ is still intolerant to straight cow's milk but can do cheeses. He won't even go near yogurt as he's picky as the day is long. So probiotics for him to keep his little gut healthy. Ya know, last year I took JJ to the chiro and he put him on probiotics then. I gave it o him for about a week and poor JJ had some pretty bad dipes. I thought, this is making him sick and stopped. Had I known that sometimes that happens to gt the bad bacteria out before the good bacteria can establish, I would have never stopped. Knowledge is power, and well, I didn't have the knowledge about it then.

Oh, re: nakey time. My sister is an RN and has always had her children (once fully potty trained) sleep without underwear so things could air out and breathe.

sunflower seed butter - who was it looking for this? can't remember, but meant to mention, they had it at Trader Joe's today. 3.99 a jar. I think that's cheaper than what you said you were paying at T. If you don't have a TJ's near you, let me know if you want me to fill a USPS flat rate box and send your way. The jars are plastic and fairly light, so no breakage etc.

*snip*
Wave That was me Smilie Thanks for the offer, ironically MIL was out of town and stopped at a Trader Joe's somewhere and their sunflower butter was the special thing they brought home for dd laugh out loud DD got sunflower butter, I got a big-city newspaper complete with coupon inserts, and dh got......hmmmmmm I can't remember! We have yet to try it since we already have SunButter open at the moment. I've found that Fareway carries a couple SunButter varieties for $3.99 so $2.99 AC, not too shabby!! Our nearest Trader Joes is a couple hrs. away in Des Moines Frown Sure wish we would get one here!

*laugh* That's what I say. That or some cheap ground beef, eggs, etc... Though, last week I couldn't find anything to get because I had done my shopping at Kroger beforehand - so I just got a 10.00 WM gc. That's always an option too. Smilie

Is it bad that I'm tempted to create an alter ego and spread false rumors on all the EC blogs about this great deal using XYZ coupon just so I can see the coupon stock go down as it gets snatched up by all the "I'll buy anything that's rumored free" crowd??

Planned to hit up WM, T, and Giant. Got to WM and realized I had left all my coupons at home except for the handful I'd grabbed for WM. Doh Oh well. Still did my run there, and did well. Except the cashier was new and had no clue what to do with a negative total. I told him he owed me money, and he was so confused. Consulted with another cashier, and they ended up calling over a supervisor. She grumbled about the coupons and insinuated that the cashier did something wrong to allow this to happen. She said as she was inserting her key, "I hate putting my number in and having myself associated with this mess!" As though she and/or the cashier was going to get in trouble. shake head Obviously the training has not trickled down at this store.
Saying prayers for a speedy recovery for you little girl.

WM---With my mouth (which is a Boston accent), I would have said something to her.
I know the DM's and RM's for my Walmart and I would have said to the supervisor, (first look at the name tag, but don't let her see you doing this), I'm sorry xxx, what I will do is talk with xxx (dm's name) and let him know that you weren't comfortable with the coupon policy and that you have a hard time performing your duties. I will certainly let xxx know that if he sees your numbers associated with these types of transactions that you were very reluctant to participate and that you made it clear to anyone within range that you were doing this under duress.

Greenie do you really think that would make the lurkers go away?! I highly doubt it. The lurkers are living through us. We are their soap opera fix for the day. We could say and talk about anything, I don't think the lurkers would care, all they care about is that there is something on the screen for them to read.

Plus also the lurkers are use to coming here to get the 'real' deals. The 'real' deals are never talked about on here anymore, so perhaps they are going to eventually figure out if you want in, you gotta be with the in crowd.

GG: Yes, I am going to the Dr. today. My back hurts, although it could be completely unrelated. I seem fine otherwise. Thanks for the advice!! I have excellent insurance (USAA) and they are usually willing to cover any bills. In fact, I got into an accident in 2004 while driving a rental car and required about $4000 worth of medical bills. They paid every.single.penny. Love them!

Ank/Flug and other WM shoppers: What Qs are you using there these days?

Dreeme: Have you been shopping lately? Wondering how it's going Evil

M2C: Glad you're back safe & sound. Hope you get some sans kids runs while your DH is still off work. Hope Cole is feeling better!

So today I am starting the cabbage soup diet. I have done it before and lost about 10lbs, but the best thing about it, it was so much easier to keep on a diet after that. We are leaving for vacation next Saturday and it would be nice to look better in my new Mossimo swimsuits Cool I made a spicier cabbage soup this time and really upped the veggie content. I also kept the pieces of veggies bigger, as I think that makes me feel fuller. Wish me luck!!

DH is home today and we are going to visit my grandpa. Turns out his prostate cancer is on the aggressive side. They are running some studies to see his best course of action but most likely it will have to be radiated. Thanks for all your support Grouphug

I was just talking about this with DH! I would love to see someone on the show have a total bug run with a nasty cashier. I think there would be a decrease in the number of new couponers if they realize that they could sometimes be treated as criminals.

There were 2 people in front of me in line at T the other day and one said to me "are you one of those coupon people?" I said, "yes I sometimes use coupons, why do you ask?" Then they proceeded to talk about EC and how insane they thought the people on the show were. It was incredibly rude. I finally just said, "I think people who DON'T use coupons are not only insane but also stupid." That shut them up. Coverlaugh

Ank...no it's not bad...do it...do it.(picture little bunny sitting on one shoulder saying this)
That is hilarious. Big Grin Wish I did know someone in power... Next time, though, I'll just preface what you said with "Bunnies says...". Think that'll work?!?

Ank/Flug and other WM shoppers: What Qs are you using there these days?

DH is home today and we are going to visit my grandpa. Turns out his prostate cancer is on the aggressive side. They are running some studies to see his best course of action but most likely it will have to be radiated. Thanks for all your support Grouphug

Have a nice day everyone Smilie
I have tearpad qs for $3/2 J&J First Aid products. Use them on the first aid kits in the trial section.

2.50/2 floss coupons. Walmart has various floss for .97 and .88.

$2/1 Wisk hangtags on the .97 small bottles (not all stores have the small bottles).

$1/1 Nexcare IP on the $1 Nexcare bandaids, although I haven't found these in stock at my store yet.

$1/1 any Pert on the travel size. That's all I can think of at the moment.

So sorry to hear about your grandpa. hug Its never fun to get news like that!
