Cute Mavis pics Ank.....oh oh oh I keep forgetting to tell you, my dd and niece were playing dolls the other day and dd randomly starts calling her doll Mavis! We don't know anybody named that. I love that name BTW.
You will be able to do it, I just know it I can see that being totally daunting, just take it a day at a time and know that you will make it - we are here for ya!
Good advice! I just need to stop my overactive planning side from freaking out. One day at a time...
I'm thinking 4 is it for us. I was actually thinking 3 might be enough, but God had other plans.
I turned 36 the day after monkey toddler was born and he makes me feel older some days than anything else does.
35 isn't nearly as old as snotty teens make you think.
That's too funny, I know exactly what you mean on the teenagers. I have a feeling my kids will make me feel old for some time to come too. Right now, morning sickness and a nasty cold is making me feel ancient.
Thanks for the prayers as well!
And I just have to brag on my family a little bit. My two sisters are going to take my ys stuff and set up for me at a church sale on the Sat I'm gone, just to earn more money for me for our vacation. I thought that was so special of them to offer to do that, and it made me so thankful.
And some pics of the pumpkin:
She's sooo precious!! Adorable!!
Hmmmmmmmmmm. Kids.
Of course, this is the child who had previously named her two favorite dolls KALLICK and HUMP.
Makes me wonder what she will name her own children some day.......
waitng for your PM..I am sure it is going to be interesting...
have patience with yourself. it's going to take time to get used to the new hearing aids, and i imagine it's going to take people around you time to get acclimated also
I did make 4 hours with them on.
and may i just say, i despise paying bills. these bills are killing me. just paid a tax bill and our cell bill and wiped out a chunk of change.

POOF! - - - - - - It's June 2nd!
Hope you're feeling a little better!
indeed it is!
thank you my dear, i so needed that!
sending miracles right back at you, darlin. how is that eye of yours doing?
we'd love more company. we just got tm4d to spend more time in the bathroom.
thank you GT for inviting me!
xoxoxo.
soul/folk is a broad genre. does she like male or female artists? bluesy folk? rootsy stuff?
You'll probably hear from me when we get back. We actually got confirmed results early, they were prioritized by the lab. Has anyone else had a CVS? I'm not quite ready to talk about the results, but will share once I've absorbed the news.
I did make 4 hours with them on.
No shopping today. well two walgreens. I am looking at going to Target now on Saturday morning before work. New ears came off after 5pm. I feel so nausated.
You will get your miracle.
Yes I am truly excited but I am still learning now to use them. Will look at the bluetooth attachment tomorrow and the remote more closely.
so you know in high school and then part of college i was so used to working in a quiet environment. pin drop silence as you wrote. then i did this internship where you had to work in this noisy busy environment with TVs going and people talking on phones and in person and walking all around you etc. and i had to write to someone, or set up a meeting or read something and come up with a summary for my boss. it drove me batty. all those noises all at once, it was exhausting and confusing and I could never get anything finished on time or correctly.
so a mentor taught me a trick. she said find one small goal to focus on (getting across a particular point, wrapping up one paragraph etc) and then focus on it so intently that your mind will automatically start tuning out sounds. so then after you teach yourself to do it for 1-2 mins for one sentence, you do 3-5 mins for a paragraph, then 10 minutes for half a page, etc. and so you build up tolerance incrementally.
and in between those when it got too much, i put on headphones with white noise.
maybe that incremental technique will help you? maybe if you tried half hour at a stretch instead of 4 hours? or maybe try something simple first - a park early in the morning, or a cafe/diner/restaurant in non busy hour, for 15 mins at a time or so? even something as simple as sitting in your car, listening to the sound of rolling down windows while putting on seatbealt and car engine, and the starting the radio. 5 mins at a time and in your driveway. perhaps being somewhere where you feel in control might help?
sending big hugs and prayers your way, sweets. and miracles.
you sent a miracle on its way to me with your faith, and I hold faith for miracles to come your way.
... and to all of you: miracles, for health, for finances, for love and success.

This is true.
OK, I don't know if I'm so excited about this new wording. My stores are fairly lenient anyway, or at least have been. With Extreme Couponing and all (and people who just dont' have the decency to not buy so dang many of one thing, which seems to be the case here a LOT anymore) I'm not so sure I'm thrilled. There would have been a day when I was

What is Adele considered? She sings well in that genre. I also personally think she's got a good bluegrass type voice. She tends to like (or sing) female artists though she's fairly open to trying most musical styles and artists.
Oh, I was meaning to ask you if you have done much research or know much about homeopathic help for hyperactivity? I think that if we ever tried to put my toddler into public school she'd be labeled as hyperactive and they'd try to put her on meds or something. She crawls the walls almost literally and I'm going crazy trying to keep her busy. I am thinking of cutting out all added sugars and dyes (my brother was/is ADHD and I seem to remember that helping), but I'm not sure what else to do.
Ugh... Why is it midnight here? Can't it be 9:45 for at least 2 hours? Then maybe I could get something done online.
Reach - buy 4 tooth brushes, get $4
Olay Lotion - buy 2 get $2
Covergirl - buy $15 get $3
Have you tried looking at couponnetwork.com for catalina details? Some show up on there for me, others don't (our grocer had a cat deal on Solo products that didn't show up for example).
dipes, in case you want to keep a safety pack or two at home... wags has a deal on their generic ones - 2/$10... and there's an ivc that takes off an additional $2. making it $3 a pack. there's also an additional ivc (that only some people have - some special booklet) taking off another $1. at any rate at $3/pk not bad to get a few pks if you want to keep on hand.
*snip*
It isn't going to hurt to call. All they can do is tell you no again. Do you have an agent? Maybe they could help. If we have a claim we deal directly with the insurance company but we still have an agent we could turn to if we needed to.
It's funny the things we don't bat an eye at purchasing at better-than-free.
The good thing about all the dulcolax I picked up with I was regularly shopping Walgreens is I found a family member who actually uses the stuff.
I need some newspapers (ok, I actually need coupons so I will be purchasing newspapers). So I figured I should pick up some FARR items at Wags so I can use the RRs to buy papers. Thankful this is a good week for FARR items

That's a good idea.

What about Amy Winehouse? Norah Jones? And of course, the classic, Carole King?
Yep there are homeo meds for hyperactivity.
Stopping sugar is great and also watching things like corn intake. And be particular about eliminating HFCS (it's unfortunately in everything from salad dressings to bread). The body gets such a high dose of concentrated, modified fructose immediately there, our bodies go bonkers.
I would also immediately stop all artificial food coloring like you're suggesting - that's a lot of label reading, but you will see a big difference. the artificial colors are known to cause hyperactivity in children and it's why the US is finally considering a proposal to ban em. many of em are banned in much of Europe. I believe yellow 5 and red 40 are among the baddest ones, but when a few of them are combined together, they're notably big contributors and that makes it hard for researchers to know if the combination triggers something or if one of them is always super bad. leaves you with no choice but to eliminate completely.
Ditto the BPA from canned food - big contributor to hormonal changes and hyperactivity. you won't be able to cut out BPA completely unfortunately - it's in the plastic bags used for frozen veggies (even organic ones), it's in the liners used for jar lids, it's in the inside of the blue water jugs for water coolers, it's on cash register rcpts we get at stores, it's on all disposable plasticware (all the takeout containers, all the takeout forks, knives, spoons etc). If you see any paper or plastic where it's kind of shiny and the oil slicks off instead of seeping in and staining, it's almost certainly coated with BPA. it's even there in the shiny disposable plastic straws! but by cutting out canned food, you'll have cut down a huge chunk.
One other thing to look out for: Benzoate preservatives, most common one is sodium benzoate. You'll find it in high acid foods, as well as sodas, candies etc. Researchers found it causes hyperactivity and even more so in conjunction with artificial food coloring.
For candies, we've taken to ordering the yummy earth line from amazon. the lollipops routinely go on sale, 10-12 bucks or so for a big canister of a few hundred - enough to last many, many months and price out about 5c or less a pop. they are dyed with vegetable extracts and made from cane sugar. created by 2 fathers who didn't want the colors/preservatives/HFCS to be fed to their kids. trader joes (can't remember if you have one near you) also carries em, though it works out more expensive buying there, albeit you can buy it in smaller quantities. you can also find gummies and such on amazon from a natural line that has no artificial colors or preservatives. things like fruit strips and such, i only buy the preservative and color/flavor free ones from TJ's or Target - they both have organic ones that are very affordable. we don't eat these every day though cos it's so much concentrated sugar in a little dehydrated strip. but it's a good candy alternative for us.
if you have a TJ's near you, since they're competing with WF they've recently made the rule that all TJ house brand products are non GMO and free of artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. just what you need. WF does the same thing.
if you don't have either store near you, look for things branded "natural" and clearly look for the label that says no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. most grocery chains carry those lines. "natural" by itself doesn't say anything except "marketing gimmick". but if you find labels specifying that certain things are eliminated, then that's a good sign it might be a good product for you.
those are all the things we did before we eventually decided to go all organic. but even those steps made a huge difference in how we felt.
the bpa awareness was the hardest part because it meant nothing canned. but i'm used to it now. no canned soup - tetrapaks only. anything preserved has to be in glass jars. ditto ALL tomato products. i'm still getting BPA from the lids but far less than a can full. all tomato product cans are lined with BPA (there's no industry alternative) cos the tomatoes react with the metal otherwise. and things like beans, corn, pineapple etc - i just work with fresh or soak dried beans and go from there. it's easy now cos i am used to it. just needed some rewiring.
i almost eliminated using frozen bagged veggies (even organic ones). we occassionally use frozen peas and frozen spinach cos the results are just different. but other than that, nada. and no more takeout plasticware in lunch bags. not even for the adults.
altogether it has made a big difference.
oh yea, one more thing that was great for us: not a lot of fruit juice all day long, and none of those HFCS filled shelf stable so-called juices. instead i learned from my german and swiss friends what they've done for generations: we take pure filtered apple juice, dilute with water, and put that in bottles to drink at home or out. there's enough sweetness and taste there, without oodles of sugar.
Is the $2 IVC from teh infant care book? Does anyone know where the $1 comes from? Sorry for all the walgreens questions, I just realized I need to start watching for diaper deals again - BOTH kids are in size 3 right now. Yikes.
....
$1 is another wags booklet whose name i don't know. irishoct found em and generously offered to mail them out to waggers who asked on the weekly thread. maybe drop her a note and ask for the name?
