I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.
This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

You've obviously never seen the damage of a skipped or snapped timing belt. It's not pretty. Anything from cracked heads to pistons punched out the block.
And they're not something you can look at to know if they are on the verge of breaking, either. Early-mid 90s belts DO NOT last 100k miles (you can now buy silicone replacements that will, but it's still not worth going past the recommended change interval).
I've changed a few dozen timing belts here and there over the years. I've also seen mint cars in the junkyards because a slipped/snapped belt put the repair cost too high. The worst was a 30,000 mile Talon AWD back in the early 00s that was in absolutely perfect shape outside the engine damage from a shredded timing belt (not the fault of the belt, judging by the oil/crud in the Tbelt area, there was a long term leak that they didn't fix, and it basically lubed everything up until the belt jumped), but the junkyard wouldn't sell it since they didn't have the title. So we stripped it bare in a week so at least the parts would live on. But it was in better shape than either of mine, I would have much rather have bought it whole and dropped a complete engine in it.
