June 10, 2011, 3:13 am: System Notice: This thread content has been automatically archived from another thread which reached post limit, and will be preserved for reference and archival purposes. The discussion should continue in the original thread

Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

also don't think you have to accept it. ask her if she really wants it will she pay the taxes on it. and figure your taxes both ways with and without it and you will know what she has to pay.
My niece-in-law can't afford to pay the tax increase. My nephew has a good job, but she had to quit hers when their daughter was born with Down's Syndrome. There have been a LOT of operations (on the daughter's heart), the child in almost blind and is deaf. Needless to say, taking care of her and their son is a full-time job, so she can't work outside the home. I thought this would be a really neat gift for her, but WOW EEK!, I can't afford to give her a $200-$300 present no matter how wonderful I think she is. Frown

msrp is what they give you if you can show that you can buy it for less print it out and you can pay taxes on that amount
Thats what I was afraid of. Dang, don't really want to cross the IRS over a purse !! OMG

What is it with you and winning purses? laugh out loud You do not have to accept the prize. Write them and tell them you do not want it becaue you do not want to pay the taxes on it. They will select another winner and case closed.
Hey, that first purse was NOT my fault. I entered a contest for a television, was told I'd won then told I hadn't then sent that BUP as a "consolation" prize. I was INNOCENT on that one. This one, I'll admit, WAS my fault. When you consider the fact that I haven't bought a purse for myself in like 5 years, it IS kind of weird how those things just show up on my doorstep. nod Back, you expensive devils. BACK ! ! ! laugh out loud

If she loves it so much aske her to reimburse you come tax time. What makes you think the taxes will be a couple of hundred??? You can just not turn in the paperwork and it will go to the next person.
You do believe in winning ugly purses dont you?? EEK!
Please refer to my responses to Jules and MintJulep.

I'm so tired of being dumped on by purses. I tried to do a good deed and look what happened. Appalling, isn't it? OMG I honestly had NO idea that that thing would cost a couple of grand. I mean, who in his/her right mind would pay that much money for a purse? I'd rather buy $2,000+ worth of Magnum bars. Are my priorities askew? I don't think so. shake headshake head

It all depends on your tax bracket. A $600 purse in a 15% tax bracket is $90. Easiest way to figure it, is take this years return, add the value of the purse to your income, look at the tax chart, and see what the difference is.

So... they must use "Honeywagons' for the retrieval ? I had to look across the net to see if anybody else uses
funny stuff on their trucks.. and yep, there's a bunch that do like :

"You Dump it....We Pump it
"You Shit it... We Get it
"Turd Burglar
"Satisfaction Guaranteed or 110% of your product back
"We haul milk on the weekends
"Money in The Tank
"Stool Bus

Certianly you can decline it, if you want. The 1099 will probably show an inflated price of it. I believe if you can show it at a lower price you can pay taxes on the lower price, But I am not sure how to do that. Jem might be able to help you on the tax part, wouldn't hurt to ask her.
I'm not laughing at your problem, but I am LMAO at you and anothe purse!!! That is just way to funny!!
It's one thing to get no respect (I'm a Rodney Dangerfield type of person, I know that), but hows about a little SYMPATHY. hug Is that asking for sooooo much from my fellow contest enterers? Is it???????? I know, this one is my own stupid fault. If I ever meet Valintino, I'm going to smack him/her, so help me. I keep losing when I win. Am I the only one who has noticed that? shake head

Sure, a $600 purse is only a $90 increase. But a $2,395 purse would result in a significantly higher tax bill -- like $300 to $400. That's what's causing the vomit

It's like "The Night of the Living Dead"....but with purses. They are coming after you! laugh out loud

I checked the web site you provided and it is a beautiful purse but for $1916.00 on sale it sure as heck should be. Who in their right mind buys these things?

After all this, you deserve to buy yourself a new purse. Just not a $1916.00 one. Big Grin

Too bad I couldn't get it for you. My declared income is so low right now that adding $2,500 to it, really wouldn't cost anything!
