Hmm, freakiest thing I eat regularly would probably be cottage cheese with sliced avocados, salsa mixed in and eaten with tortilla chips. Eat

You must be one of those snooty rich Southerners like my Grammy. I'm one of the other kind of Southerners, the kind who eats anything, pretty much, that comes in a can. There used to be a product that came in a very small clear glass jar that was thinly sliced corned beef, like you could make a sandwich of. It was made by Armour, I think, and was very deliciously salty. I used to look forward to going hiking or camping just so I could have an excuse to buy it to have to eat. nod
Is it weird that I can suddenly 'hear' your accent coming through? laugh out loud

They still make the dried beef. Usually it's kept over in that section where you'll find the Spam, Deviled Ham, Chili and like-items.

I come from money, but I was raised not to look down upon people because of financial status. I don't eat canned meat though. Nasty, nasty. Don't eat processed meat either vomit. I have always been called a picky eater! I'm just a picky person in general Teehee.

I love all the above. I also love offal which is all the tripe, intestines, gizzards, etc. of most animals.

You like balut? What nationality are you? I love the stuff too. But, I don't eat it often. Only when my mom makes it, which is rarely. I should buy some and make it myself. It's just boiled so shouldn't be hard.

You should try that chipped beef in cream sauce over bread or toast. Truely a comfort food. And I'm a Yankee. Wink

The yolk is good. But, I also like the "broth" and the actual duck. I don't eat the egg white part because it's like rubber. That's the way I was taught to eat balut (hot vit loc, in Vietnamese). We sprinkle some salt/pepper on it and eat it with a fresh Asian herb (don't know the name but know it by appearance).

Also, Viet ppl like the egg to be fairly young. So, there's still a lot of yolk and the duckling is very small and undeveloped. Those horror pics you see online of balut is not how it really looks. Also, we it peel the egg from the top like an argege egg and eat it with a spoon.....more civilized that way. Whereas, from the travel shows on tv, they make it out like ppl just peel it like a hard boiled egg and eat it whole!

By the way, what's with all the hate towards Spam?!?!?!? It's good stuff! Fry it in a skillet and it's like morning sausage....what's the big deal?

Well I know that I've seen the duck when it's like barely there, not yet developed, but when my friend went to live in the Philippines, the duck was BIG. I was kind of shocked when he showed me pictures, I've never done a search online. laugh out loud

The way we eat it is similar to you, salt & pepper or a fish sauce, lime, chilli peppers, garlic and a hint of sugar. I've never eaten the actual baby, I put it aside for my dad to eat. LMAO
