Currently McDonald's is running a promo where they will plant up to 100,000 trees in America's forests. They will plant one tree for each code entered from the Apple Dippers that the kids can get in their happy meals. Well... we got two of them and discovered that the codes were the same! What kind of trees are they planting, and where? Reforestation of diverse plant life encourages healthy forest growth, but planting homogeneous trees of similar age and size doesn't go far toward providing a useful animal habitat or long-term forestry solutions.

Do you guys actually believe this? I see it as a marketing ploy to sell more Happy Meals, not Happy for the tree getting cut down.

Ive actualy planted 26 fruit and nut trees in my 1.5 acre backyard. I enjoy the windlife it brings.

Long ago, about 20-25 yrs ago they actually gave away small pine trees in their happy meals. They were super tiny because I remember it actually fit in the happy meal box. They should do that again.

Mine is now a nice huge pine tree in front of my parents' house Big Grin

Interesting. Haven't eaten Mcd's in about 6 years. If they did that promo I would certainly buy more for the trees and give the food to a homeless or otherwise disadvantaged person.
