You may need to check out All star Music (value resort) or the new Art of Animation (value) in order to accomadate 6ppl. I believe the regular rooms only allow 4 ppl. I will be making our reservations here in the next few weeks. We are soo excited. If you have any other questions I may be able to answer just send me a PM.

How many are in your family?
I would like to do a "moderate" resort such as Port Orleans. Can we get away with staying there with a family of 6? I know on the website that it says it only sleeps 4. Are they strict on the number of people staying in one room?[/QUOTE]
They do have a sleeps 5 room, we were 6 at the time but one was a baby and we brought out own playpen and he didn't need tix because he was under the age for free. What is your youngests age? Mind you the room was teeny tiny and with the trundle pulled out we could barely open the door but we were NEVER in it but to sleep.
Our youngest is 5, then we have 8 and 9 yr old boys and a 19 yr old daughter. Seems like it might be TOO small for us...ugh! I assume we will basically just use the room to sleep, but DH would probably like a bigger space. The rooms for 5 or more people are just so flippin expensive!!! Definitely want it to be a memorable experience though...decisions, decisions.

We are family of 4. However, we are all 'adults' LOL...We have DD18 (will be 19 when we go) and DS 15. We have always made do with the small rooms that the values have basically because we are hardly ever in the room. We do go back to room for afternoon rest. The rooms at Port Orleans are a little bigger than values but still cramped with all the luggage. I would love to stay in one of the new suites at Art of Animation but just don't know that the $1300 price difference would be worth it. We drive and our vacations for 9days/10 nights usually run us about $5000.00. So that would make it alot more $$ to say in the suites. The first trip we took the kids was when they were 3 and 5yrs and it was soo much fun. Our kids still talk about their Disney trips. Well worth the $$ but we are Disney fanatics!
I was gonna take my DD to the 1.00 movie, but we totally slept to late to make it.. I would have needed to be out the door by 8:30 and that so didn't happen..
She wants to go to the indoor playground at chickfila or as she calls it chick o lay
I may just need to go by target and look for a new kiddie pool :tee hee:
And my middle child used to call CFA the same exact thing! Hubby was very sad the day she started to correct him.
Just got a call that my brother has had a setback.. He had been doing well over the weekend.. Slowly he was eating again and feeling stronger. They had planned on possibly sending him home yesterday.. but, he started getting sick yesterday and throwing up.. The cat scan this morning showed another obstruction and the surgeon is coming in to talk to him today.. Now, he doesn't get to eat, they put his tubes back in, and had to start him back on pain meds
If you are a praying person, I would really appreciate special prayers for him today!
Had a full morning, but I loved it! Free donuts at DD (with coupons from the library), to the library to pick out books and then have storytime, then to the mall (Old Navy is having great clearance, got a couple things), and then to Target. Had a STC run, and was so happy about it! Am I the only one who is in love with the purple/white clothing items in the ladies' dept? I am determined to collect the whole set.
No cheap jeans in my dh's size, and I was bummed about that. There are some Levi's that are still 50% that would work, but I want 75%!
Raining here, and thundering. A lovely summer afternoon. I'm gonna go sit on the couch, fold laundry, listen to the rain, and watch TV!
On the Disney talk.. we have stayed on property and off.. for us, the best trip was when we rented one of the vacation homes with a pool in the back. We had plenty of room, had our own private ppool, were able to get some groceries, and were 10 minutes from the park.
We are going back this fall and there are 6 of us too, so we will do the house again. Costs around 800 for the week!

But, the short story is that he has a very large tumor on his pancreas that grew into the intestine and caused a blockage.. They can't remove the tumor right now because it is too involved with blood vessels, arteries, etc and the risks are too great.. originally they were planning to try to shrink it with chemo and radiation, then attempt removal.. But, when he got the intestinal blockage before, they had to do something emergency to fix that, so they basically just opened him up and reconnected his stomach and intestine, bypassing the part affected by the cancer.. Now, I would guess another surgery would depend on *where* in the intestine the blockage is, and if they can bypass that as well..
so, I know that is a long boring explanation just to say, I really don't know right now..
My niece was with him when I called and I asked her to please call me as soon as the doctor comes by..
thought: have you guys independently tried to get second opinions from clinics/hospitals around the nation that specialize in pancreatic oncology? it may be worthwhile doing that.
get copies of his reports and send them out to specialists. and do your own independent research. if you keep waiting on the course of action taken by one set of surgeons, sometimes you are left waiting a long while.
i am sending you strength, too, sweetie. hold the faith and stay centered in positive hope for him. see recovery for him. even if his hope flags, don't let your resolute fight for him flag.

I am debating on staying on or off property. There are definitel positives to both. Do you feel like you get the ENTIRE "Disney experience" staying off property?

I so wish it would rain here.. It is incredibly hot and miserable... my car temp said 104 earlier.
The movie here starts at 9:30, but you need to get there by 9:00 am to make sure you get a seat cause the daycares often go too.. and the theatre is 30 mins away... so, we need to leave at 8:30 am.

The next trip we made, we stayed in a condo near the park..For us, the trip was just as nice because the experience to me was more about the parks than the hotel.
Last trip we rented a house with MIL and FIL.. It was super nice to be able to put the little ones in their own bedroom at night and close the doors, while DH and I had our own room. We actually had 2 master BR with full baths, plus 2 other bedrooms.. One night, we came in late from the park and took a nice midnight dip in the pool..
And, since we had a full kitchen, we bought groceries. We would eat breakfast before we went.. eggs, bacon, bagels, cereal, etc.. then we took crackers or something in our bags incase we got hungry in the park.. then we ate a late lunch around 2:30-3:00.. Most nights we didn't eat again until we came back to the house around 9 or 10 pm.. then, it was sandwich, soup, frozen pizza, etc.. It saved us a ton only buying 1 meal per day in the park.
I think it just kinda comes down to what you prefer.. I have friends who won't go unless they stay on property.. for me, it isn't that big of a deal. Honestly, if we had a smaller family and could get in the cheaper value resorts, I may consider it, but with a family of 6, I won't pay for a more expensive resort. I would rather spend my extra money on park tickets

L2B, maybe your SIL is just feeling insecure/threatened and also powerless/overwhelmed with all the medical terms and numbers and results, and not really knowing them or coming from a medical field? would it help you think if you approached her just woman to woman and said you know I really want to help you and him, and one way I thought I could help was by using my medical background to try and understand test results and seek opinions. Final decisions still theirs as a couple, but would she be okay if you tried to support them that way, tried to take some pressure off her shoulder?
maybe that approach will help her relax her guard a little and not feel like yet another person is taking over her life, much like the hospital system and the slew of docs has?
sending hugs and prayers. just remember, no matter what you do or don't, you're acting from good intentions and that's what matters. and emotions are fraught for all of you right now, so nothing is easy.
Let me know if you want me to research clinics/centers/specialists and send you links/names to share with the family in case you guys want to get second opinions. You're going through really tough times now and I realize you have a lot to think about and a lot on your plate, including your everyday life. But whichever way you go/the whole family decides to go, one unsolicited suggestion: act fast. digestive malignancies tend to be aggressive and really damaging to the body cos they're impacting your fuel source. Time is of the essence to halt further damage.
