Also used my $5 off IHOP yesterday and they claimed fraud. Good thing I had my $25 IHOP gift card from T.
I hope everyone is having good runs and a good summer. I'm working through some issues with my pregnancy, so I can't shop as much as I like. I hate knowing I'm missing the good deals, kwim?

SkipHop saddlebag diaper bag $14, free shipping

Luvs2save, glad to see you posting!
off to the supermarket.
3 weeks from tomorrow is the big day. I KNOW I need to get going on the non-essentials it is just so hard to know where to start and then compound that with the fact that I am trying to manage these two kids w/dh on his wonky work schedule
Aye. Guess I better get off of SD.
Can totally relate on the coffee. I'd just rather have my Keurig coffee with my cream and SF syrups, etc. And then when I see the SB price I about vomit. Yuck. I will pay for Caribou coffee when I am around one - they have some different stuff I can't replicate well at home and I am rarely near one. Nearest one to here is IA city and I don't even go there often.
I like "fuffin" bedding

btw- if you do the ferry to the statue of liberty, no need to do the staten island ferry.
missed this TCC and i am happy to see all your familiar names and avi
You girls rock & roll...
hope you are doing well! thank you SO MUCH for praying for me - that is very generous of you.
hope the rest of your trip gets easier and less stressful, and you get to have some fun!
tm4d- another suggestion. ....
1. for the subway, the new york mta offers 7 day unlimited ride passes. that's the cheapest way to travel around as a tourist, since you don't pay per ride. you can find more info here [mta.info]
2. statue of liberty... they have waitlists, because people cancel all the time. for example we had tickets for november 2009 and couldn't go, so ended up canceling. cancellations are generally last minute, so it's best to ask the park service to put you on a waitlist.
3. museums... if you guys like art or fashion, that sort of thing, i would highly recommend the following:
a) The Frick Collection - it's an old mansion, with a gorgeous garden inside, and this huge private art collection. It has a gorgeous collection of paintings by old masters, plus a fabulous old furniture collection. And the mansion itself is a sight to see. You can find more info here [frick.org]
b) The Metropolitan Museum of Art - the Met of course is the gold standard of museums. Not only does they have an excellent and extensive collection of fine art, but they do some great fashion exhibits too. Currently they have one on Alexander McQueen, showcasing the dresses he created over the years. Totally worth seeing! You can learn more here [metmuseum.org]
c) Guggenheim and MoMA -- Both house modern and contemporary art. I like the Museum of Modern Art better, because it has some of the masters of Modern Art, and a vast collection of photography, design, sculptures, paintings, illustration. It's really a very cool and inspiring place. In the sculpture garden they have something called The Wish Tree, set up by Yoko Ono, it showcases work from artists around the world. Inside the museum they have paintings by Picasso, Dali, Van Gogh, Cezanne, Monet, Matisse, Gauguin, and many more. They have a large Andy Warhol collection, a renowed Lichtenstein collection and more. And there's a modern design exhibition going on currently that looks very promising!
Real life is the suck right now.. won't go into all the depressing details.. but, my brother is being moved to hospice tomorrow.. ..

is this a cast iron griddle? never heard of a cast iron griddle with rubber/silicon dots on it. i would think those would self-destruct with the heat.

My workload has been doubled, with no extra compensation. I rarely even have a chance to sit during the day. Makes me very tired and grumpy! Miss you all!
I'll try to check in sometime this weekend
you know it's amazing, kids hear adult say things and they just pick it up, without realizing.
i never fail to be shocked these days walking down a city street or at a store - you'll hear teenagers using the f-word, or mf, and of course s-word etc like it's punctuation. we've just become so coarse.
childhood story: we must have been about 4 yo... when sis heard dad on the phone. he had just discovered that a business deal had gone really bad cos a partner had double-crossed him. in an unguarded moment daddy said something out really loudly and angrily on the phone.
fast forward a few hours, my sis and i were having a fight (kids...) and she looks at me and says "you bloody basket!"
i start bawling.
mum hears her, and says 'what did you just call your sister?"
sis: "bloody basket".
mum: "don't ever say that! you're insulting your parents, that's a horrible thing to say!"
sis looks at mum all wide-eyed and confused: "all i said was bloody basket cos she has blood in her and she's round like a basket. what's so wrong with that?"
mum, stifling a smile, says where did you learn that? i never want you to say it again! it's an insult to your parents!
sis: if it's so bad, how come dad said it on the phone today?
then, she starts bawling.
poor mum, she had two bawling girls on her hand, so she went to my Dad to chew him out, and he burst out laughing.
