First time I've felt one in NC. Whee

At least I'm pretty sure that's what we just felt... office was shaking for several seconds. Nothing big, but unusual for here.

All kidding aside....back in my office. My building shook for a good 20-30 seconds. People were running into the hall with panicked looks on their faces. I was on the 2nd floor of a 4 story so it wasn't as bad, but people said the whole building was moving. It was insane. We evacuated for about 30 minutes while they went through for any leaks or whatever.

So far no damage, but I haven't been home yet. Will be interesting to see if anything fell off the walls or anything.

A 5.9 is pretty strong for an area that doesn't get them. Glad everyone is okay Smilie Hopefully that is not a sign of something to come.

I read that people in NC felt it so I called my Mom in Asheville but she didn't feel anything. I wonder if my Dad in Charlotte felt anything.... Scratchchin

My daughter was pretty freaked out - first one she's ever felt. My wife thought it was the washing machine at first, but then realized it was an earthquake. This is the last earthquake I've felt since 2000 - that was when I was in Portland OR (also very unusual for there - I think that quake was centered around Tacoma WA).

Wow...the East Coast is going nuts over a little tiny 5.9 that wouldn't even make the news out here in CA! I guess now when my East Coast friends say West Coasters can't drive in the rain, I'll have something to fling back! Bonk
