Pumpkin Carving Contest 2011

The Sixth Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest is underway!

Due to fewer participants in the last few years we have decided to move this to the Lounge.


Maybe if we get a ton of entries we can move this back to the Announcements forum next year and have bigger prizes available again....come on people ...show us what you can do!

This year you'll be posting your pictures here in this thread and then we'll make a poll for people to vote. Yes, I know it's not incognito this way..so I hope you all vote for the ones you really like.


Here's what you need to do:


1) Get a pumpkin.

2) Carve it.

3) Take a few digital pictures of that pumpkin, and post your favorite in this thread by 11:59:59 PM PDT, Nov. 3rd. You can choose to have your entry lit or unlit.

4) A placard with the words "Slickdeals 2011″ must be included in the picture to qualify for voting. Photo-shopping the words onto the picture does not let us know it's really your picture. It has to be a sign (placard). Some examples can be found in the wiki of this thread for 2010, 2009 and 2008.


Rules
  • Entries can be as creative as you want, but they must be PG13 or tamer and conform to our image rules.
  • Also, entries must have a placard somewhere that mentions Slickdeals 2011 in order to verify authenticity.
  • A group of pumpkins that create a theme can be submitted as one entry.
  • Once an entry is submitted, it can not be changed
  • Submissions must be made by 11:59:59 PM PDT, Nov. 3rd.
  • We will have a new thread with a poll for you to vote starting on Nov. 4th and voting will last one (1) week. Extra 5 points (thumbs up) for Slickdeals or Black Friday themed pumpkins.
  • Only one entry per person, please.
  • You may vote on as many as you like.The rules are subject to update for clarification if necessary.
Prizes are:

  • Grand Prize: Pandigital 8" Digital Photo Frame (model Pan8008DW) + SD T-Shirt + SD Beanie
  • 2nd - 10th Place: SD T-Shirt + SD Beanie

I agree on the swag. I have gotton a couple of shirts and they are awesome. I would love more. When DH saw that I had won one a while back he was like Facepalm "They even have their own official gear?" laugh out loud

You can just post them in this thread. I thought about having people use the wiki but then some might get deleted Annoyed
Part of the reason for keeping the OT out is to not let the thread go 50 pages where I have to dig for the pics to place in a poll. Smilie

Yeah I think having a still shot with the placard and then the animated one would be fine.

couldn't you do it like the old contest threads? entry thread that was for entries only.. and link to it on the op? a thread with a lot of posts gets more enthusiasm in the contest vs a serious thread.

This one was the official one for entries laugh out loud Wherever members have access to post I think it will get full of comments.

I encourage comments on topic...just not other stuff.

Once the contest entry time is up I will organize them into a new thread so that people can vote.

You could have the entrants PM you with a link to their photo(s) so that you don't have to dig through a thread to find all the entries and more importantly so the voters won't know who did which pumpkins until after the voting is finished.
