I'm no pro, but I can definitely lend a hand if you'd like a new avatar or need some help with your existing one (and if I can't help hopefully someone here can help you)!
Here are some samples of work I have done. Please don't ask me to create something from scratch... I'm not that artistically gifted.
I'm better at tweaking/resizing/altering images, adding backgrounds, special effects, etc. - and squeezing the crap out of current gifs to get them to fit into the tiny file size limitation.

Kristin, is there anything you might be able to do to my avi, to make it a little more special, I put up two different copies of it, the difference is probably barely visible, it's in the darkness of the background
What might your thoughts be here with this? Any way to make the water move, or the part of the dress that flows out towards the left, move? Just my thoughts here on this, I don't know what you are capable of here. If not, I actually like my avi

Remember the avatar's maximum size is 66x66 pixels. The file size can't exceed 19.5kb. When you start getting into fancy fonts and cramming too much into each frame it gets impossible to read. When you try to add in too many frames the file size gets to be too large.
Any clarification you can give on what exactly you're looking for would be great.
