I'm not sure if this is the word you are thinking of, but there is transference and countertransference [wikipedia.org] in client-therapist relationships.

That is correct but he was being a smartass when he said that so I was being a smartass back. Transference is very common and very dangerous. I read almost all of your posts here in the lounge and agree more often than not with your pithy advice.
