Just a quick update for you gals before I read my backlog...

I went to the cardiologist today. He says I've been having panic attacks when the palpitations happen. But it's benign. And can be helped with some magnesium supplements.

So basically, he told me to not take Worker's Comp because it would go on my record. And I really really really don't want worker's comp ANYWAY. I think I'm going to not answer any of my calls from the Worker's Comp people and tell my HR that I'm already in treatment, although they made me sign something that acknowledged that an "injury" happened at work.

I told them that I don't want to take Worker's Comp and they're not taking that for an answer. So any tips on how I can go about that. They're frankly causing me more stress because they're forcing me into something I don't want.
Awww..well its good that what you have is benign. Hope you get better soon Smilie If your job is stressful, I would try finding another job or just take things easy at work...listen to soothing music on your ipod. Smilie Your health is much more important. My sister had a job that was very stressful and she found another job in less than a month and she is very happy now where she works and stress-free Wink

I used to get annoyed when they would ask for email or phone until my daughter worked at VS for a few months. The associates are put under such pressure to get #s/emails. Her manager would be on her headphone screaming at the girls at the register to get those . My daughter said that when people would say no, she used to make up emails--like Ihatevs@aol and vssucks.com@gmail. Big Grin
Ahh that explains it. Yeah if they do have a quota, I don't mind making up a phone number for them to use.

Azn, I'm glad they figured out what's going on, and it's not something scary-serious! hug Have they recommended someone to see for follow-up or given you advice on how to handle it? I'm sorry you're stuck in such a toxic environment at work though...I don't know much about the whole workplace thing, but from what I understand, your work can file a claim, but you are not required to accept the benefits. I would perhaps put a statement in writing refusing the benefits (maybe include a note from your doctor/cardiologist saying that you are fit to work), and get it notarized before you give it to your HR department (making sure to keep at least one copy for yourself). If you want to be doubly sure that they have received it (and can't later deny that they did), maybe send it via USPS with signature confirmation. I will try to think if I know anyone who knows about workers comp laws or works in HR...will get back to you if I find out anything else. hug
Thanks for the suggestion Sheena. I have thought about writing them a letter so that they can't deny they didn't accept it. I still have to go back to my cardiologist to do a stress test later this month so I will see if he can write me something up. For now, I'm going to keep stonewalling the worker's comp insurance company as well as HR.

Yes, do let me know if you happen to know of anyone studying HR or is in HR. I've asked my vendor to ask as well, but right now I'm thinking of coming up with ways to screw the company over legally. By filing FDA complaints (we've been shut down by the FDA before) and other complaints about marketing practices. They tried to make me do something unethical yesterday!! To offer a perceived "70%" off, but not really applying the discount!

Thanks! My loved ones have been trying to talk me into quitting this job in search of something better. I have a friend whose boss has been trying to recruit me into their Finance department, but me and numbers don't work together, but I am going to start looking for a position at that company though. I figured, better health = better life in the long run = better health to study for my upcoming tests too.

I guess I'm so used to sacrificing health for so long that I don't take it as preciously as I should.

I figured HR would try to pull some stunt - I know it's annoying to look for a lawyer, but sometimes a quick consultation with one can be invaluable. Definitely do not do what HR wants you to do. As a whole, those departments are there to block any potential liabilities, and as you know, those moves are often directly against the interest of the individual employee.

just got a vacuum from target! it was $149 so i got something else on my list (vaseline for mom) to put it over 150, got 20 gc from the vacuum, then 15 gc for 150 purchase, and 10 for 50 purchase (it says 50 or more i guess, so there was no way they'd let me use 2). i used target cc for $100 (sadly i didn't pay off my kindle so i couldn't put the whole transaction on my card Sadwalk) so i got another 5 off, making the vacuum about 100! (well, sorta) not bad imo. now i should go back and use my gc's and get more gc's.
