Guy screwed me on a craigslist transaction

838 247 November 12, 2011 at 10:01 PM in Chat
What happened was we did a phone trade and he gave me his Iphone which I thought was fully working. I tested it out and everything seemed good. I go home and the usb cable that plugs into the Iphone only goes in halfway and if I move the cable just a little bit it disconnects from the computer. I contacted him and he says its a small problem and he didnt think he should have ran it by me. Now he is ignoring me after I asked him to just undue the trade or pay $20-$40 so I can fix it somewhere.

Well Im kind of ticked off and dont get how someone would just do that and not try to resolve the issue. And before anyone goes and says its my fault that I didnt test the phone, no one would think to plug in a usb cable to see if it fits in the Iphone. Anyways, stupid of him he forgot to wipe his contacts and his facebook account. What would you do in my place? Let it go? Iphone warranty ran out so its coming out of my pocket.

Really how much did you saved by buying off someone from CL instead of going to a legit place?

Let me just say this. I bought over 200 iphones in my time and never needed to plug it in and everything worked out as I test what I buy to what I consider to be thorough and last thing I should do is check a usb port on the Iphone or worry about it. Blaming me for not doing a 100 point inspection is just wrong. Just because you bought a phone or whatever else once a year and have the time to do that 100 point inspection than thats your decision. Dont tell me thats its my fault for being screwed just because I didnt test one thing.
Just read the bolded part like...a mofillion times.

Guess you need to add this issue to the list of problems that have slid by you in your 200 iphone purchases.

First item on the list: Buying off CL means the person hopes to phuc you over in some way shape or form.

For the fifth time I didn't come here to ask who's at fault for getting/selling a broken iPhone. Obviously he screwed me over and I cane here and said I had bunch of info on him and asked what you would do in my shoes. I don't really care if you all check the port as 100's of people I sold my phones to never did and I never did. But that'd not even the issue so fuc**ng drop it.

I did put in his status that he's in Al Quida(sp).

Fix the phone or resell it as is.

Or you can whine about it on a forum. Your choice.

Posted this on his Facebook. "Note to self: when selling your phone erase everything! Especially when you Fu** over the guy by selling him a broken phone. Learn from my lesson. " He received three likes by late last night. By morning he changed his password so I don't know what if any replies came to him. He texted me I was immature and left it at that.

It's your fault you didn't check the phone out.
He was asking for it walking down a dimly-lit street dressed like that.

But, yes, correct. It is the OP's fault he failed to realize there are more evil people in the world than he apparently realizes.

Wrong. Physical damage is especially what I'm looking for when I'm looking at used electronics. I always check all of the ports and memory card slots to see if they're in good physical condition and I check every button to see if works AND if it 'clicks' like it should. I'd also inspect the area near the ports to see what kind of wear it has. I once turned down an HTC Incredible because the area near the charge port was so worn that it wasn't even black anymore (The Incredible is red plastic painted black, so heavy wear is super easy to identify). The last thing I want is a charge port that's 1-2 years old with heavy use already.
