This isn't T-ball any more. We keep score.
The guy even got the can, then waited, and they still didnt leave.
Then officers came up to the protesters to try to grab them and take them away, but they actively resisted and pulled back.
At this point, they were sprayed as a means to a) force them to disperse or at least unlock hands, so it would be easier to apprehend these CRIMINALS.
Furthermore, let me tell you from experience: no one likes to use pepperspray. Think about it: spray the suspect, then go in to arrest them, it means the cops get contaminated as well.
The students chose this so they could be martyrs. Anyone with half a brain would understand this. Did you notice how the people who were on the grass were left alone? Its the idiots on the sidewalk who refused to move that got arrested. They had a choice. In the moments leading up to it, you could hear them even joking around - they weren't taking it seriously, but the police are.
Notice how the one kid on the right, in the beginning of the video, was like "... uh yeah i dont want any of this" and left.
The police let people protest and they let people congregate (notice how everyone on the grass didnt get sprayed, only the idiots blocking the sidewalk).
Non-compliance with a lawful order is justification for some force. These people we warned days ahead of time, verbally and with written notice. Now that they knew it was not allowed, they still disobeyed... Disorderly Conduct and Civil Disobedience.
Same way I feel whenever I hear about Syrian protestors getting shot at. If would have stayed at home, you would have never been shot at. DON"T CLICK ON THIS SHIT. IT IS HORRIBLY DISGUSTING AND WILL GIVE YOU NIGHTMARES [youtube.com]

What a joke that the 35 cops in riot gear "feared their own safety" by 50 college students camping on the quad.
This was done out of concern for the students' safety? Give me a break.
Seems odd that administrators aren't worried when students pitch tents on campus to wait in line to get tickets for a sporting event, but it's entirely different when it's a protest.
Would you rather the protesters be tazed? Because, pepper spray is non-lethal. Your eyes just sting really, really bad. You talk about growing a heart and that these are somebody's kids. Well, those are the risks you take when you protest and refuse to leave private property. That's common knowledge when you protest--that is, you may get arrested and peppered sprayed.
I really felt that the students in the video screaming shame on you for 5 minutes straight sounded stupid --;
The cops used violence (pepper spray is violence) against kids that were sitting on the ground, and they are getting praised as heroes, and that the kids "had it coming"
It's sad how violence is so accepted and relished in our society today.
As someone else said, the cops should've arrested the protestors non-violently..That would've cleared the sidewalk.. Instead the cops were too lazy and resorted to violence.
I hope the cops that did this all lose their job, and become part of the 20% of this country that is unemployed/underemployed. That would be justice.
However, if my son were at college, sitting in the middle of a sidewalk, protesting for whatever cause, and he is told to move or else get pepper sprayed, THEN he gets sprayed for not moving, I will call him a dumbass and tell him to get to class.

Picking them up one by one would have caused more of an issue......do you actually think they would just sit there and get cuffed and walk? No, from what I see there they would have fought back and then the billy clubs would have had to come out and then people would really be crying violence.
How would you feel if your kid acted like an idiot, causing public outrage, caught on film, breaking the law like that?

!
Have you ever been sprayed by it? It hurts like hell.
It causes pain and injury.. isn't that the definition of violence?
I would rather the cops arrest the kids one by one. If the kids threw a punch, then the cops could use reasonable force. Remember, there was 35 friggin cops there, and only 50 protestors (and I think not all the 50 were on the sidewalk).
Are you telling me that 35 cops could not arrest 20-50 people?
