Emergency cell phone ban!!!!!!!!

21,793 3,419 December 13, 2011 at 09:44 AM in News (3) USA TODAY
NTSB has called for a emgergency cell phone ban in cars everywhee. No use at all. I applaud this call. There are so many idiots on the road who can't drive and talk at the same time. The worst are the textings. What we need is the cops to actually enforce the law. These things are already illegal in CA but people still do it all the time.

Thanks for proving my point. That post is about your idiotic hands free law that never happen.

I understand that reading comprehension might be difficult for you but you should accept your faults.
You mean like a hands free law like they have in California already? All they have to do is take out the 18 and it's exactly what the NTSB has asked for. You might want to work on your reading comprehension or reading period.

"Q: May I use the hands-free feature while driving if my car has the feature built in?
A: No. The law prohibits anyone under the age of 18 from using any type of wireless device while driving, except in an emergency situation. "

Looks like that only applies to people under 18...

And I will hope to hell you and I never shame the same stretch of roadway.

I'm not sure how I feel about a ban. I'm more for it than I am against it, but still not sold to one side or the other.

I don't care if people make decisions that solely impact their lives. I respect the right a person has to make their own choices, but your potential bad choice shouldn't have the ability to impact the life of someone else.

If someone drives down an empty stretch of road in the middle of nowhere, smoking, talking, jazzercising, reading, etc then whatever. As long as it only affects their life, I really don't care. They will be the only one to suffer any potential consequence of their actions.

It really isn't necessary to talk on the phone while driving, and if the call is that important then you should pull over. Distracted drivers annoy the shit out of me, same with drunk drivers.

Then there are all of these variables and issues that come into play, blah blah blah. Yep, still torn.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa... you can't just come in here and not take a side. There's no room for being reasonable. Pick a side and declare the other side the debbil!

Imagine all the shame that'll go on, it'll make the roadway all shameful and just disappear.
She has a point. Come on, he said he texts while he's driving! Facepalm That's just freakin' stupid. Have you seen people do that? They take their eyes off the road in front of them, and look down at their phone and type.

Can you not understand why that's hazardous? You do realize that when you're driving a car, you have a potential to injure or kill other people besides yourself, right?

If they take out the 18? You really do live in your own special world, don't you?

We have already established the fact that states don't allow bus drivers and novice drivers to use any cell phones while driving. The debate is about the law as a whole. It will never happen.

Now my response, again bolding the important parts im focusing on:

Ummm, the "under 18" is a hell of a qualifier. What percentage of drivers are under the age of 18 in California?

I'd be surprised if it were more than 10 or 15%.

It will never happen like the existing laws are "secondary" and not "primary"? Hmm.... right.

As I've said before many times, 30+ states are already most of the way there. For something that will never happen, most of it already has.

In your strange little mind you may think this...but in the real world where this ban will do more harm than good, it will never happen.

considering...legal full driving age in NYS is 17, the under 18 if applied in NYS would only apply to a small fraction of the people.

Lets put it this way, Tim Tebow will win a Superbowl b4 your total ban on all cellphone use will pass nation-wide.
