Emergency cell phone ban!!!!!!!!

21,793 3,419 December 13, 2011 at 09:44 AM in News (3) USA TODAY
NTSB has called for a emgergency cell phone ban in cars everywhee. No use at all. I applaud this call. There are so many idiots on the road who can't drive and talk at the same time. The worst are the textings. What we need is the cops to actually enforce the law. These things are already illegal in CA but people still do it all the time.

I'd seriously be interested in just how legal that would be. Sounds like it's possibly/arguably illegal search and seizure to me. I would never agree to a police officer searching my phone like that.
Without the password, it's impossible. 10 wrong attempts and my phone is automatically wiped out.

Not to mention that it's illegal for them to do.

It should be illegal. Just like putting a GPS tracker on your car without warrant should be illegal. But sadly, the cops get away with many things they shouldn't post 9/11.

For a phone record. You mean they can't copy from your phone when they pull you over?

so yeah, goes back to that pesky warrant problem

Its ok, im sure you're thinking getting a Warrant is as easy as it looked on Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego.

Same here. I have sensitive work information here on mine with a profile that requires a non-simple passcode. Good luck cracking that in 10 attempts.

They don't need the password. That's the thing. They rip it out of your hands while it's on and fully passworded. Then they copy everything.

Did you read the rest of vec's post? Because going by why you wrote here, you clearly didn't. And if you did, you have a problem with reading comprehension.

Good luck with that. I can almost guarantee that shit would be thrown out in court for illegal search and seizure.

Good for you following the law.. Me, I'm still going to answer my phone as it's convenient to me. I'm also going to continue smoke and drive. And text and drive. And do all the other things that you seem to want to ban. Mainly because it's convenient to me and pisses you off.
And I will hope to hell you and I never share the same stretch of roadway.

I'm not sure how I feel about a ban. I'm more for it than I am against it, but still not sold to one side or the other.

I don't care if people make decisions that solely impact their lives. I respect the right a person has to make their own choices, but your potential bad choice shouldn't have the ability to impact the life of someone else.

If someone drives down an empty stretch of road in the middle of nowhere, smoking, talking, jazzercising, reading, etc then whatever. As long as it only affects their life, I really don't care. They will be the only one to suffer any potential consequence of their actions.

It really isn't necessary to talk on the phone while driving, and if the call is that important then you should pull over. Distracted drivers annoy the shit out of me, same with drunk drivers.

Then there are all of these variables and issues that come into play, blah blah blah. Yep, still torn.

He wasn't referring to TALKING ON A HAND HELD PHONE WHILE DRIVING.

Another thing that will never happen in real life.

i hope i don't shame the same stretch of roadway as you too.
Imagine all the shame that'll go on, it'll make the roadway all shameful and just disappear.
