According to the FBI, over 1.5 million background checks on customers were requested by gun dealers to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System in December. Nearly 500,000 of those were in the six days before Christmas.
It was the highest number ever in a single month, surpassing the previous record set in November.

Oddly enough though, I do find hot woman with guns rather erotic.
I think hot women are erotic whether they have guns or not.

Santa's my home boy. I always try to stay in good with the man in red. He brings goodies. bounce It's those who try to take my goodies that should be scared. I was always taught that the best way to not waste ammo is to be a good shot in the first place. Evil

THanks for the insight. I bookmarked all of these and have been looking at all the suggestions from the thread.

DH said we will go to the range this weekend so we can try them. He thinks maybe the .380 will be good for me. There is a gun show here this weekend so he said once we get a better idea of what caliber and such, we can check out the show.

The Beretta Cheetah was okay, definitely handled it well, but I liked the way the XD felt better. I also got to hold and mess with the Bersa Thunder and could handle that well too. Right now I am looking into how to carry them (types of holsters) since I am a girl and clothes fit differently on me. I am apprehensive about carrying in a purse.

On another note, a group of 10 black women were there at the range shooting and were taking photos of one another shooting and then posing with the guns "Charlies Angels" style. vomit

If you liked the XD, then you will like the XDM even better. The biggest difference is the customizable ergonomics of the XDM.

You may also want to try the Smith and Wesson M&P 9mm. If I was to buy a new 9mm today, that is what I would buy.

Read a bit about them here [smith-wesson.com].

Yeah, but subcompact only comes in XD, not XDm. Not important if it's a home gun or in a purse or something, I guess.

I was about to suggest she try the M&P if she likes the XD. I own the compact chambered in .40, and it's become my carry weapon. It also has interchangeable backstraps so that you can adjust the size of the grip to fit your hands better.

FD's only hesitation may be "safety features".

I paid $315 (no sales tax). I have read a lot that says the Mosquito jams, but the first 150 rounds didn't jam. I really like it so far. She liked shooting my .22 rifles, but enjoys shooting handguns more. However, we only had 9mm and up for caliber, so the .22 is much more manageable.
If you look into the reports of those FTF and FTE, you'll find that almost without exception, the people making them are using cheap ass lead nose and hollow point lead nose rounds.
the problem they are having is that the non jacketed nose rounds are usually the cheapest rounds and they lack the quality control for powder load and consistency that the CCI rounds you are using have.
Thus the major price difference between the two rounds.

I personally won't use anything but CCI mini-mags in any of my 22 rifles or handguns simply because i have more problems with cheap ammo across all the guns than ammo in a specific gun.

if you watch slick guns dot com you can mail order purchase 2500 CCI rounds for about the same as you would pay at a local gun show or ammo retailer.

It looks like I'm going with the XD subcompact and DH is getting the.... I think it was the Ruger LC9... but he just went to find our friend so I can't remember. We are pretty set on a Sig Sauer mosquito for our .22.

The Mosquito is pretty nice, however, I don't really like the trigger on it. It's still a fun plinking gun for the range.
