How many loungers got guns for Christmas?

I got plenty of ammo, but no guns.....Sadwalk

According to the FBI, over 1.5 million background checks on customers were requested by gun dealers to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System in December. Nearly 500,000 of those were in the six days before Christmas.
It was the highest number ever in a single month, surpassing the previous record set in November.

I am 100% confident you'll like the XD. I have a buddy that loves his. It was one of the pistols I considered purchasing, I just didn't enjoy the blockiness of it.
It was actually really hard to decide. Before going I pretty much had my heart set on the sig sauer P238 but I hated the way it felt in my hands (plus it was wayyy too small). I was torn between the XD (or the XDM) and the Smith & Wesson M&P. It really just came down to I felt better holding the XD and I felt like I had more control holding it.

I never realized just how many makers and styles of handgun there are. And ammo.... my God ammo. so much gimmicky ammo. That is what I am looking at tonight is reputable places to buy ammo and what kind.

Generally PNC or similar is good for range ammo (You should be looking at $10 or less for a box of 50 9mm rounds). In terms of carry/self-defense ammo, I loaded my 9mm with Hornady Critical Defense, but Speer Gold Dots and Federal Hydroshocks are good choices, as well. I loaded my .40 with Gold Dots before the Critical Defense line came out.

Self-defense, "real" ammo is not going to be cheap. It's not. About $1/round. The cheapest I've found has actually been at gun shows.

Ahh, ammo.

For target practice, my favorite is American Eagle 147grain, which can be heard to find. 115 Gr is also fine, just be aware that it will be more 'snappy' when you shoot it. I like to practice with the heavier 147gr ammo because my carry ammo is also 147gr.

Wal-Mart is a pretty decent place to get ammo, you can get the Winchester White Box (WWB) for about $20. It's 100 rounds of 115gr 9mm.

Set up a deal alert for 9mm in Hot Deals, we do get quite a few deals for 1000 round buys.

Will do. We pick up Thursday. I am excited about the 9mm I picked. I can't wait to get it on the range.
Awesome, enjoy the XD. I have an M&P full-size myself, but I really do like the XD as well.

Haha, no. I don't have real little hands like some women, but they aren't man hands. That p238 is actually just a lot smaller in person that you see online or even think.

"With an overall length of just 5.5 inches a height of 3.96 inches, and weighing just under a pound"

I was pretty concerned with it being so light that the kick on it would be a lot for me to handle with my first gun.

if you want to buy ammo cheap, watch slickguns dot com.
they will have specials listed for ammo all the time from reputable places.
some that i order from all the time include cabela's, sportsmans guide, Natchez Shooters Supplies

good brands for target include Winchester white box, Remington UMC, PMC Bronze, Federal American Eagle, Speer Lawman.

I avoid Prvi, Fiocchi, Herters, Brown Bear and all it's derivatives, anything that is steel cased for the most part.

For carry ammo i second the Hornady Critical Defense suggestion, which i would follow with speer gold dot, then federal hydrashok as the third choice.

As to the recommendation of a ruger MK III or Browning buckmark for a 22 versus the Mosquito, as someone who owns all three, the first two are really totally different types of guns than the mosquito.
the mosquito is a traditional semi auto type pistol while the Buckmark and MK III are more target variants.

For holsters i like the Blackhawk Serpa CQC line as they can be setup either as a belt holster or a paddle holster and they have a positive lock to them. they can be easily drawn one handed even with the lock and with the quick disconnect system, you can easily mount an extra mount in a vehicle to allow for carry in a vehicle without needing to rig anything special. when you leave the vehicle you simply disconnect fro the mount in the vehicle and connect it to the belt loop or paddle you are wearing. means you can have the best of both worlds very easily.

I have 2 XD's. One in 40S&W and one in 45CP.

I'd put them above my beretta PX4, but below the Kimber, both the H&K USP and P30, and above any glock i've ever owned.

As far as gun for the price, they are very hard to beat.

Cool, let us know how it works out for you. Still having some failure to feed issues with ours, but I am using CCI mini-mags (nice .22 ammo). Have fun!
One of the biggest issues i found with mine (the sport version) was that the factory lubricant was a gel type that was very much a debris magnet and the used a hell of a lot of it.
it took me a solid two hours to get all of it out of the slide rails and the frame but once i did, i've yet to have anymore FTF or FTE with CCI mini mags, which is all i use for 22 ammo.

That may be part of my issue. My wife cleaned it (her gun, after all). I use M7 stuff to clean my gun, but I may have to go with something else. What do you suggest for a a good cleaner? I think now that it has had some rounds through it, I will be able to tell where the grease was/is and clean it a bit better.
