RECALL: Excedrin®, NoDoz®, Bufferin® and Gas-X® Prevention® products

408 1,133 January 9, 2012 at 05:10 AM in Grocery (7) Rite Aid
http://www.novartis-otc.com/otc/index.html

Novartis Consumer Health (NCH) is voluntarily recalling all lots of select bottle sizes of Excedrin® and NoDoz® products with expiry dates of December 20, 2014 or earlier as well as Bufferin® and Gas-X® Prevention® products with expiry dates of December 20, 2013 or earlier, in the United States.

NCH is taking this action as a precautionary measure, because the products may contain stray tablets, capsules, or caplets from other Novartis products, or contain broken or chipped tablets.

As this is a voluntary recall at the consumer level, Novartis Consumer Health advises consumers who have purchased these recalled products to discontinue use and return them to Novartis Consumer Health for a full refund.

Consumers that have the product(s) being recalled should contact the Novartis Consumer Relationship Center at 1-888-477-2403 (available Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern Time) for information on how to return the affected products and receive reimbursement.

Consumers also may click here to obtain a form to obtain a refund.

These actions have been communicated to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). We are working closely with the FDA and will continue to do so throughout this process.

Additional information may also be found on the FDA website at www.fda.gov.

*Update* I just got off the phone with the rebate center, finally got through. For the opened meds he took the down the lot # expiration date, product name and count. He said I will be getting fair market value on these items. Note* a few of the opened items were expired I don't know what they will give me for fair market value on those, didn't say. I asked what fair market value was and he said he didn't know.

For the items that are in boxes I have to send in the upc with the form he told me to attached separate sheet with the items listed because there isn't enough room on the original sheet. I will be taking a pic of all my upc's and form for future reference. He also said that they would only give $2 for postage. I asked if he could just take all the information over the phone he told me no I would have to mail them in.

you replied to my post, but it doesn't seem like you actually read it. Just like I said, when they're free or a mm, I get them - free, or I make money 'buying' them. Get it? look through the cvs or rite aid threads some time, it will make more sense. or not. If you hang around slickdeals long enough, the concept of buying things you get paid to take from the store, only to then throw the stuff away, will make sense to you. or not. I'd explain it more fully, but I'm busy right now buying software on staples that I will proceed to throw away once it arrives.
I give plenty of stuff away, and it's things like this recall that make me sorry I bother - nobody really appreciates it, and then something like this recall comes up where I can get paid to send the stuff back.

That's funny cause I just got back from returning 4 boxes of Excedrin to CVS (they had CVS stickers on them). I did not have my receipt so I got full value for the items on a moneycard.

I am planning on waiting for a bit before I try and submit anything. Maybe in a few days they will have the reimbursement procedure figured out better.

What a mess!!! On their website where it list products this affects it shows Excedrin Menstrual Complete but on the link someone else posted above, that product isn't listed. The UPC is the same as one of the Migraine ones, though.

I guess I'm waiting also until they figure this out.

I see. Didn't know what MM stood for. I'm not new to SD. Just don't do the CVS and Rite-Aid stuff as there aren't any locations around here. Smilie

Not trying to derail the thread, just trying to understand what he meant. Sorry Serra.

I hope Serra didn't bust your chops for asking an honest question!?!? yes, mm= money maker. When cvs has excedrin (or anything else, but they have deals on excedrin alot), it's usually either free after extra bucks back, or buy $20 & get back $10 in cvs money, then use a $4 off cvs coupon, excedrin coupons, and it turns out to be a money maker. I give lots of the stuff away, and use it, but it piles up anyway. Lately I have been leaving boxes full of denture stuff and vitamins at the local old folks home in their community room, since the person at the front desk said they love free stuff. She also told me that when I leave boxes of stuff, the residents clean it out within an hour every time.

Anyway, has there been any confirmation on what the procedure is for people with bags full of excedrin? upc, no upc, separate forms, or one long list? Anyone open all their excedrins hunting for lucky percocets? If percocets are those translucent cylindrical thingys, I can tell you all, don't bother - I've swallowed 6 of them and all they've done for me is make me feel sick to my stomach. seems odd there was one in every bottle.

Thankfully they can all go in the same envelope. Use the pdf posted--it makes it a little easier.

I called a second time because I was unsure if I was told the correct info. The rep said lots of misinformation was given out yesterday--yikes. The product MUST be sent back along with a form for each one. They can all be in one envelope, and shipping will reimbursed for up to $2 per bottle, not total.

For those who have multiple bottles to return and want to complete a form for each bottle, I have created the PDF with a pfd form feature.

This will alow you to type from your pc the information on the form.

This might be helpful for repeated information like your your contact information and then hand write in the other information as you see fit.

I hope this helps.

John
It appears you need a form for each bottle. Use the attached. It allows you to type the information. Even if you just type your contact information, you have that compelted and then print several copies. Presto.

I also think typing would be helpful to the people who have to key this information in. It will insure that the address is coded correctly in the system for a speedy delivery.
