RECALL: Excedrin®, NoDoz®, Bufferin® and Gas-X® Prevention® products

http://www.novartis-otc.com/otc/index.html

Novartis Consumer Health (NCH) is voluntarily recalling all lots of select bottle sizes of Excedrin® and NoDoz® products with expiry dates of December 20, 2014 or earlier as well as Bufferin® and Gas-X® Prevention® products with expiry dates of December 20, 2013 or earlier, in the United States.

NCH is taking this action as a precautionary measure, because the products may contain stray tablets, capsules, or caplets from other Novartis products, or contain broken or chipped tablets.

As this is a voluntary recall at the consumer level, Novartis Consumer Health advises consumers who have purchased these recalled products to discontinue use and return them to Novartis Consumer Health for a full refund.

Consumers that have the product(s) being recalled should contact the Novartis Consumer Relationship Center at 1-888-477-2403 (available Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern Time) for information on how to return the affected products and receive reimbursement.

Consumers also may click here to obtain a form to obtain a refund.

These actions have been communicated to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). We are working closely with the FDA and will continue to do so throughout this process.

Additional information may also be found on the FDA website at www.fda.gov.

*Update* I just got off the phone with the rebate center, finally got through. For the opened meds he took the down the lot # expiration date, product name and count. He said I will be getting fair market value on these items. Note* a few of the opened items were expired I don't know what they will give me for fair market value on those, didn't say. I asked what fair market value was and he said he didn't know.

For the items that are in boxes I have to send in the upc with the form he told me to attached separate sheet with the items listed because there isn't enough room on the original sheet. I will be taking a pic of all my upc's and form for future reference. He also said that they would only give $2 for postage. I asked if he could just take all the information over the phone he told me no I would have to mail them in.

**There have been differing reports of directions received from cs reps. Suggest if you call for yourself. Document the reps name, time, date, and take pictures.

Wonder if they'll give me a full refund for items paid for with ECBs, UPs, RRs, etc. The don't have a particularly good track record there...

At first I didn't see the Prevention part of Gas-X and was overjoyed at the thought of getting rid of the 100+ boxes (god I miss that $10/3 Q) I can't seem to get rid of.

But I'm pretty annoyed thatI just bought about 10 boxes of Excedrin at CVS the week of Christmas, and we go through that like water around here. Wonder since I paid with ECBs if they'll give a full refund?

The last recall I did was rolaids and they gave me xx amount per bottle, they didn't need receipts just upc codes and how many. I didn't have to send them back or anything.Just threw them away. I don't know if this will be different but it was very easy.

I wonder what they'd do for my 100+ boxes of Gas-X, assuming the dates fall into their recall category. I remember that $10/3 Q fondly. Smilie
Hmm I know I have quite a few of those also, I always wondered what the heck I was going to do with all of those.

I was being a bit sarcastic in my post given the Prevacid rebate debaucle. I do think they have to be shipped back this time since the recall form says we'll be reimbursed the MSRP of the item plus $2 shipping. Wonder if I'll get the same amount if I ship them all back in the same box?

I will find out today from Walgreens if I can take them back there. I am sure I can since it is a recall. I have a lot of them.

It doesn't say anything on the form about having to ship the product back to them. That's probably why you have to fill in the lot # & other details on the form.

But it says they will reimburse you $2 for s&h so doesn't that mean you send it back?

Is the form out? I keep clicking on it and it just takes me back to the same page. TIA!

I have a ton of excedrin too since it's a product we can use, and also gas-x (a few pregnancies later.. lol) and a few bufferins.

EDIT: I only spent 20 minutes on the phone before I gave up b/c the kids were fussing. I've spent nearly 1 hr on hold before like this before only to be disconnected in the end so I gave up earlier this time. Smilie Anyone else have luck?
