Ill keep this short. I purchased a rather expensive product recently. I had some problems with my order but the vendor worked everything out and I have the product installed in my home.
I checked my email this morning and I have an email from them saying that they received my return and are processing a refund. I looked at my credit card statement and the refund has already processed.
I didnt return the product but I got a refund. So basically I got a free product. Im wondering what is the worst thing that could happen with this? Can they come back a month from now and say they've caught the mistake and charge me again?
Moral police need not opine.

Fine, Hardies?
even better! We could include Burger King
It's not really even a comparable situation. Say you paid for fries, but were then refunded their purchase amount of them later on - that might be more comparable.
Also, if the wrong kind of fry/ring lands in what you ordered, it's not really "free" - it's taking the place of an item you did order. If you had a curly fry land in there, it would probably take the place of a couple regular fries, would it not? So it's still not the same.
The usual response is that its up to the store to police any abuse.
Fraud is a deliberate attempt at deception.
He ordered an item , paid for it, got the item delivered how does he not rightfully own it. Once the transaction is accepted and completed its his TV.
OH OP they might try to charge you after the fact but you didnt authorise any new charges to card. So that would infact be theft by the retailer.
This is part of the dawg eat dawg world we live in...just as much as it is up to him to catch their over charge mistake, it is up to them to catch theirs?

In both situations you are ending up with a product and the business is not ending up with their full compensation.
Ok...how about this one since you aren't really grasping the every day equivalent...
What if you went and bought a ring, 14k Gold...come to find out the company accidentally used 18k Gold. You are getting gold you didn't pay for... It is only morally right that you return your ring right now.

He's not getting something he didn't pay for... HE PAID FOR THE ITEM AND RECEIVED A REFUND LATER. Did you miss that somewhere or something? This wasn't an accidental accessory included in his expensive electronic purchase or something, they refunded the entire amount.
Would it be right for OP to tell them 'Yes', does he have any legal obligation to do so 'NO'
Curtieson as with every thread started in here it really depends if they like or know the OP as to the answer they give
If a cashier wrongly scans a coupon in my favor thats the stores problem for mistraining that cashier not mine. When i go grocery shopping should i write down the price of every item and then vigilantly watch the register screen to make sure each items scans at the price im expecting.

Sure, if it was a weighted item, but even still...you are getting an item you didn't pay for...

no.....your analogy was just lacking all of the qualification of an analogy. you didn't do too well on that part of the SAT did you?
As far as the OP, most likely they took it off but will recharge it again soon. I've seen that happen before. You did authorize them to charge it, so they have every right to charge it and I'm sure they will.
How long has the charge been off there? A few days? If you plan on not calling them, then just say you don't check your bills, you just pay them every month when they come. Sadly my fiance does that. I have to check every bill now, since he likes to over pay for things.
One time I kinda had the same situation as you, but our's was a service and we thought they charged it. They didn't, then I got a bill for it 2 months later. I honestly had no clue they didn't charge it because we had a high CC bill that month and thought we paid it.
