THERE ARE SEVERAL THINGS PEOPLE ARE MISSING FROM THE FULL VID

I've been through the comments, and people who either didn't watch the whole thing or only watched the edited version are missing some things. Aggies mom corrected a few of them:

#1: The daughter says she has to make all the beds, do all the dishes, clean all the counters, do all the laundry.
Correction: The father points out that she has to make her bed, and once a month has to make the guest bed. She only puts dishes in the dishwasher IF there are any out when she gets home. She only cleans the counters IF they are dirty. She does her laundry IF it needs done.

^^ I see nothing out of the ordinary for normal chores for a 15.. heck a 10 year old.

#2 Daughter: "we have a cleaning lady for this."
Correction: When the father addressed this he was obviously very agitated and said, "You will NEVER refer to her as a *pause* 'cleaning lady' AGAIN! She offers her services because of the help she gets at the clinic. She has done more work in one day than you have in your entire life."

#3 Extreme measures/shooting the computer
Correction: The father specifically said that he would shoot her computer the next time she pulled this stunt. He simply followed through on EXACTLY what he said he'd do. He "put one in for [his] wife" because when he called her in tears on the phone to tell her how their daughter had disrespected them again, she asked him to put one in for her.

This child disrespected her parents PUBLICLY, disrespected people who do work for her, and doesn't even show initiative enough to make her own money or contribute to the family at all. This video wasn't about shooting a computer, which of course was the only thing the media took away from it. It was about respect and integrity. The daughter has 0 respect, and the father has the integrity to follow through with his parenting.

Did he say what she was ground for the last time? We don't know what exactly she did.

I find it hard to believe that she has to do all of this every day. Even if she does, it was no reason to post such a rant on a public forum. Not only is there a scrolling message board, where your posts are visible, but most people will repost things that catch their attention. I can't imagine how many shared her post.

Even if everything she said is true and she's a modern day Cinderella, the manner in which she handled herself was as immature as it comes. She not only showed complete disregard for everyone around her, but for herself. It was a petulant, spoiled display. Apparently she is a teen, or she wouldn't have been told to get a job. Is this how she will handle other issues in her life? Would you want a co-worker that volatile? We have all seen reports in the news of teens that don't handle stress well and take it out on others. I'm not saying that she would or will go in that direction, but her rant shows a complete lack of judgement and self-control.
Quote from AggieMom :
Did you watch the video all the way through? She was responsible for wiping down the counters - IF they are dirty. Sweep the floor in the kitchen and living room. Make HER OWN bed, the guest bed once a month. Do HER OWN laundry. So really, 15 minutes tops for her chores if she keeps up with her own laundry and makes her bed in the morning before school. Not extreme at all for a 15 yr old.
Quote from beanqueen :
No, it doesn't sound like a lot. I had to do all that (maybe not my parents' bed making) but I had to do the dishes every day (counter tops go with dishes) and help with laundry and wash the floors and then I had to clean the bathroom on top of that (floors and bathroom once a week on Saturdays). I also swam 3 hours a day, was part of cross country and drama, when I didn't have a car I biked to practice and on weekends when there wasn't a swim meet I had to help my parents on the farm. Oh and I got straight A's in school.

It was being part of the family. My parents worked and still had to clean house and whatnot, school was my "job" and I had to help clean house and whatnot. It's part of living together and learning how to be an adult.

I don't think he shoulda shot up the computer. He should have taken it away and made her buy a new one and that one go to someone needy so that she understood that it was a privelege not a right.

However if that was the consequence he told her would happen then I'm proud of him for following through, because that's the most important thing...don't go back on your word when raising your kids. If you say you're gonna punish them a certain way for a certain action then make SURE it happens. Empty threats don't help at all!
Ok, I missed part of the video last night. I just saw the part about his version of her chores. So yeah she probably doesn't have as much to do in the home as she made it out to be. I did also notice he didn't say anything about the amount of time she worked in his clinic. Anyway, he was right, she was wrong but he didn't handle this as an adult should have. That laptop could have been donated to a charity that could have used it.

Yes, it could have been used for that but the whole point is that he TOLD her if she did this kinda stuff again, he'd shoot up her laptop. If he says it and he wants her to believe what he tells her then he HAD to follow through with it.

I agree making the initial threat was dumb, but he followed through with it and now she knows to better respect her father because he will do what he says he's going to do.

This.

Sometimes dumb threats happen as a parent but it's better to always follow through.

LOL as these smartass kids thinking they can get away with crap, especially having parents in IT or computer knowledgeable. I'm glad the dad posted this on the girl's Facebook wall...should embarrass the hell out of her with her friends...and rightfully so. I'm all for people having the freedom to say whatever they want, but this girl just learned (the hard way) that it is a two-way street.

Child Abuse, Appropriate, or went too far? What do you think?

Quote from MSNBC.com :
A video purporting to be the work of an angry father teaching his daughter a lesson by shooting bullets through her laptop is the viral video of day. The father, who identifies himself as Tommy Jordan [facebook.com], says his daughter broke ground rules when using Facebook, and posted disrespectful remarks about him there.

Yet another reason a kid who can't afford a laptop doesn't need a laptop.

BTW....this is a repost.....as is the thread about the chick with big boobs using them as an airbag.
