Another theory on obesity

There are many theories on the causes of obesity. Some say too much fat, too many calories. Ironically, many of the modern diets have generally failed to fix the problem.

The above video is long. For people who will reply with tl;dr here is the synopsis:

Watch it if you get a chance. I really enjoyed it and found it both eye opening and informative, without needing some shock factor or sex to sell it. It follows a simple premise and makes a lot of sense.

This was your accusation:

You still haven't shown me where I said that "everyone that bothers to get an education turns out exactly like that".
You mentioned me specifically, and then compared me to all the yokels you work for, and then proceeded to make those claims about "academics" and people that go to lecture. And I never said you said it verbatim, but it was pretty obvious what you meant.

And my kids don't actually play dodgeball. Again, it was a joke. But now I'm curious as to how you guys played it in school.
OMG, THE HORROR! Hurry, get them in a school to play dodgeball or they will fail at life, and be...

Second, the game itself doesn't enhance preparedness. The work that must be put into yourself to better equip you for the next game is the preparedness. The drive to do better is the preparedness. If you settle for being one of the first people to get knocked out at this young age then that mentality will follow you through life. These types of kids don't have any interest in enhancing themselves. They have no interest in bettering themselves. This theme will repeat for the rest of their life unless they finally realize that you get out only what you put in. This game is real life whether you want to see it or not.
That's only true for people that see competitive sports as anything other than "time I could be spending usefully". They'll realize that being the first one out will give them more time to think about things that actually matter to them. There's more than one type of person in this world.

Oh yeah, you're absolutely right. It's because they have zero drive to improve themselves throughout the rest of their life, and that starts in elementary school because they hate little snot-nosed kids throwing rubber balls at them. Sure, that make total sense. Thumbup
Glad you finally see it the way the rest of us do Wink

You are absolutely correct about there being more than one type of person in this world. There are two types, winners and losers.

Sort of, as that doesn't explain people with lower calorie diets who still are obese or obese 6 month old (yes they exist)

Calorie, exercise, etc all are part of it, but if one thing had to be labeled as a big cause, along with a complete lack of fiber it's the prevalence of sugar in everything. Also how it got there, what it does to eating habits of children over time, etc.

Again, the video can explain a lot better than I can.

So it's not sugar PERIOD. It's sugar and how it got there and why our bodies can't handle it (the fiber piece)

Some babies are just born fat.

14lb baby born naturally. [go.com] OMG
