OMG I had one of those things a long time ago. The directions said to feed it flies.
So......I fed it bits of raw hamburger. Yup I did. I would drop the hamburger into the open "thing" and it would CLAMP shut and start going to town. That was a creepy farker.

I'm pretty sure even those need water. Plus, I have like NO bugs in my house. Like ever. I think I see a fly in the house maybe once a year, if that.

Still though, you have to take those out periodically and fill 'em up.
Also, I have three cats and a dog. I can NOT have plants. The dog will dig 'em up, the cats will eat them and/or knock them off of whatever they're sitting on. One way or another, it'll be destroyed before I can even get a chance to forget to water it.
